Welcome! Happy flying
Hello, fellow flight simmers!!!
My name is Tony and Iām just now āgetting my feet wetā in flight simulation and, so far, Iām loving it!!! I havenāt got a proper flight sim setup as of yet because my computerās video card needs to be replaced to be able to work.
My main interests as far as aircraft in flight simulation are fighter jets & helicopters - with the latter, I love the Bell 222 A/B helicopter because I watched āAirwolfā every night of the week. And the reason I love fighter jets can be explained in two movie titles: āTop Gunā & āTop Gun 2: Maverickā (Iāve actually got both movies coming in the mail soon and I canāt wait to watch them!
I also should mention that Iām soon-to-be-49 and I was born mildly disabled with Cerebral Palsy & Hydrocephalus but now that Iām older, Iām a T2 Diabetic and Iām dealing with chronic pain issues.
I thank you for letting me join and I hope I get to be a member for a long time and I hope that my love for flight simulation (and driving simulation such as āAmerican Truck Simulatorā never, ever, ever dies)!
Take Care,
Tony T

Hi, I am new to the sub. I have been flying for about 2 years on MSFS 2020. I love it so i decided to get a thrustmaster TCA CAPTAIN PACK X AIRBUS EDITION for xbox. I cannot for the life of me navigate the menus with the joystick so i am forced to use my controller. In doing so I then become a copilot with my stick. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you
Welcome here!
Iām not an Xbox user and donāt have your specific peripheral, but maybe you can find your answer in this section of the forum:
I also found this topic on navigating the menuās with a flight stick. The solutions that are suggested could also work for your setup.
Issues with Thrustmaster T. Flight HOTAS One?
Happy flying!
When you update your Graphics card, you should try VR my friend.
I have always liked flight simulator and since a boy, always wanted to fly! Now im 45, I play the PC now more than ever!
I got back into flight sim because of a ps5 funnily enough.
I got a psvr2 for my son to play GT7 on the PlayStation. It was unbelievable! So good with a standard wheel. Then the Pc adaptor came out for the psvr2. Tried playing msfs2024 on my old pc with Vr but it was not up to it. 2k later I brought myself a decent 4070 ti super based new pc. Game changer! Its obviously still not the best PC, but ive parked the psvr2, got myself a crystal light and with dlss 4 the experience is now unbelievable! Love it!
Thank you!
Wow would love a setup like this only have a joystick at the moment

bit of a late reply vr is hit and miss in 2024, i have gone back to 2020 i noticed a big difference when i upgrade my system memory from 32 to 64 gig, im running a i9 with rtx 4090 on ultra with a pimax crystal light, i have tried it in 2024 it did look amazing but after the first update it stopped working so i un installed it and went back to 2020, looking forward to the bugs all being ironed out but it looks like it will be a while, have you looked on youtube for q3 users i know when i had my q2 it lagged badly using virtual desktop but ran absolute great with open xr may be worth a look

Hi Tony , welcome to flight simming! I will be a nice distraction for you.
I love flying helicopters mostly.
The Huey from Toag is fantastic as is the MD 500 from Cowensim. Happy flying!
Gāday everyone, I hope youāre all well.
Iām not exactly new to flight simming, I started back in February 2000 with MSFS 98, then MSFS 2002, 2004 and finally FSX (until my eight years old gaming PC died in 2021).
I want to get back into flight simming again, and Iām looking at getting a high powered gaming PC.
My question is, if I was to buy MSFS 2020 (I heard MSFS has too many bugs), should I get the disc version or the downloadable one?
Thank You
Hi @Sebr1968 & welcome to the forums!
IMO, there is no point in getting the disc version of MSFS 2020 anymore. Since 2020 released, there have been so many system updates, world updates & other changes to the sim that one will still need to download a large part of the core sim whether you purchase discs or not, so Iād suggest just purchasing from either the Microsoft Store or Steam.
Thanks for your reply.
Hi, you can call me: Shadow
I am playing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 on: PC
I want to try flight simulation because: Iāve always loved the view from a plane. Now I can see it whenever I want without spending $100ās on a single flight.
Iām most interested in learning about ATC procedures and different SOPs for the various aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator:
PhillyN8V here. Iām relatively new to flight simming. I had MS Flight Simulator for Windows 98 back in the day, then poor choices had me āgoneā for quite some years. Now I have MS Flight Simulator 2020 for PC and Iām just getting back into it. Glad to be here and glad to meet all of you!
Hello, My name is Clint. I am new to posting on here but have been reading for months. I cant seem to find a way to post my issue, but I logged on today and everything I have done in the last three months is gone.
Hi, you can call me: MWR Flyer or just Michael
I am playing Microsoft Flight Simulator on: ASUS Laptop Q530VJ (Because I was too cheap to buy an HP Laptop) - i7-13620H 2.40 GHz - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 6GB Laptop GPU. Fligh Sim 2024 runs from my Samsung SSD 980 Pro 1TB internal disk drive. Thatās about it nothing spactular. Itās good enough.
I want to try flight simulation because: I am an aviation fan. I earned my solo ticket in 1976 while at the Navy technical training school in Millington TN. Havenāt flown since. Siming is a great way to keep flying and see places around the world. (A lot cheaper this way.)
In the Navy I worked on the F-14 Tomcat and F-14 wepons system trainer simulator. In my civilian life Iām a mechanical designer. Amoung other work, I worked for an aircraft startup called Adam Aircraft designing the flight control and ECS and pressurization systems for that in-line twin engine carbon composit aircraft.
Iām most interested in learning about flying missions in Microsoft Flight Simulator: Maybe even taking a career path. I donāt fly as often as I can. (Life gets in the way a lot) I switch between 2020 and 2024 when I can.
I hope to meet other simmers and fly formation and hang out more.
