Hey everyone! I am posting here for the first time. So, I’m flying since 2009 – once my father brought a joystick. Now I am not only just a simmer, but also a founder of Plan2Sim. Nice 2 meet u all!

Thanks for the welcome Jummivana, i shall enjoy! I have one question…I made a name change, it shows the name change at the xbox site and in-game but not here on the boards. THogan#3978 is the moniker being directed to someone who could help would be appreciated.

Hello @TalkedTax2884,

Try logging out of your forum account and then logging back in. That should switch your username to your new Xbox account name.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Thank you Sir! I feel i should have known that.

Hi, you can call me: Will
I’m playing Microsoft Flight Simulator on: PC
I started flight simming because: I have always wanted to fly myself.

I started taking flight lessons in 1999, but only got a few hours before real life got in the way. I started playing flight sims when PCs first came out and remember FS1 using green lines on a small black screen. I did log thousands of hours in FS 2004, but have not simmed for almost 10 years or so. I am looking forward to getting my feet wet again. I hope there are still some live ATC folks that I can fly with.

David, if you can afford it, I would recommend getting a flight yoke and rudder pedals.

Hi David and welcome!

We have a peripheral guide here which includes many different products from various vendors offering something for every budget! Note that this article was published last December, so there may be some new products on the market now that weren’t available when we wrote this guide. As always, we recommend you do your own product research before making a purchase, but this guide is a great starting point:

Thanks,
MSFS Team

I went thru two sets of joysticks before I found the one that didn’t break when I was in Challenge mode. I like hard and fast thru the canyon in a F18. I paid a lot of money for these and has been worth it. Thrust master HOTAS Warthog. Other sticks only lasted up to a month or two then break or get roughness that is no longer smooth and those were 300 to 400 dollar sticks. Thrust master has lasted way over a year now and still going strong. The stick is the same as in the Warthog A10

Hi all, you can call me Marvel0169. I’m playing Microsoft Flight Simulator on Pc, and I started flight simming because I am an enthusiast of flight simulations. I have also IL2-GB and DCS, but I am very curious to try MSFS.
In MSFS, I’m most excited to have a tool for “training” me on aerobatics. I hope will be able to set properly my rig to have good results.

Have a nice flights!

M.

Hey, this is Dallas Dan. Im currently in Dallas Texas.

I started flight sim 2020 last year on PC, really liked it and then jumped to MSFS 2024. Love the career mode in 24. Ive never flown IRL, but this game makes me want to try. At least getting my PPL for funsies would be interesting imo.

I love planes and Im REALLY surprised how comprehensive this game is in their tutorial system. Im enjoying the fixed and rotorwing missions in career and I cant wait to see whats next. Cheers.

having to jump though hoops juts to post a question regarding a game i paid for is annoying.

It can be a bit overwhelming, for sure.
The forums are fairly big, as they necessarily have to cover a lot of subjects.
If you need any help getting started, this is a good article to begin:

You can also send us a DM and we will do our best to help.

I like to use it to learn aerobatics also. I have learned that some planes are not modeled correctly though. I have an aerobatics manual I downloaded for the Stearman. The steps for wingovers and loops worked well but following the procedure for spins didn’t give the expected results.

Hi, you can call me: PeacetimePig

I’m playing Microsoft Flight Simulator on: PC

I started flight simming because: I can’t afford a real Boeing 737-800

In MSFS, I’m most excited to learn about: ATC comms

Welcome!
I’m guessing most of us here couldn’t afford a real Boeing 737-800 and ended up here
Anything specific you want to learn about ATC comms?

Haha, thanks - yeah, sucks doesn’t it

I’m quite fluent in most areas of flying but the thing that I feel ‘weak’ on is always the comms side of things - I’d like to learn properly when I should be talking to ATC, what I should be saying and who I should be talking to (ie, Ground for pushback) etc.

I think the sim makes it a little too easy in missions / career - just press enter and it’s done. Whereas in Free Flight you’re presented with all these options and no guidance.

Hi everyone,

I first discovered Flight Simulator back in the 1980s — it was already a dream back then. About 10 years ago, I tried it again on PC and got really into immersive flying, but I didn’t have the right setup and eventually stopped.

Four years ago, I came back to it on Xbox Series, and after two years, it inspired me to start real flying. I’m now taking ULM lessons and flying in real life.

These days, I focus more on GA aircraft to stay close to my real experience (currently flying the Tecnam P2012). I mainly use MSFS 2020 to practice radio communication, navigation, and VFR procedures. I also stream to a tablet, which helps a lot for navigation.

The simulator has become a real training support for me, and even my instructor encourages it.

Happy to be part of this community!
