discovery flight in Switzerland is gorgeous. Scenery is truly amazing at 4K.
finally the top menu chevron bar disappears whenever you switch view. I wish there was a timeout for it on one view, but it at least disappears on its own now.
no CTDs yet, I had optimised my experience to minimise these before the update
ATC FL bug now fixed. No more harassment by ATC.
WU6 negatives (so far)
night lighting bug (now to be hotfixed)
clouds when you fly through them look degraded/pixellated as you fly through them and there are some weird graphical anomalies now that were not there before this update
had a huge frame rate drop in the Neo on finals into my local airport EGPF last night, I have landed here many times before without this issue. Had previously landed the Neo elsewhere and not seen framerate drop. Will need to monitor more and try out at other airports.
How on the earth at least the mouse bug is not fixed? It’s absolutely not flyable now, not to mention other bugs. Having different updates (sim and world) is clearly not working! At least main problems that affects flying must be fixed. I am sure everyone is so sick and tired of waiting a whole month hoping that issues will be fixed! And every update creates another one. Hotfixes should be frequently or we can start flying 2 years later i guess…
I’ve just been casually mucking around doing some landing challenges this morning (XBox series X) first time post WU6. Frustratingly/disappointingly I’ve had one FS2020 hang on the screen where my landing was to be reviewed. No results just a complete FS2020 hang/freeze. Exited to dashboard then ‘quit’ FS2020 and relaunched.
Did another landing challenge which was ok, then tried another and on the challenge loading screen I had a CTD.
I had no issues like this in previous release. Could do landing challenges all day with no problems. Can I have SU5 version back please, it was on a whole fine and more stable for me.
I can at least say on my part that the “expedite your decent/climb has been fixed”. Remember to set your baro altimeter to standard when reaching any altitude above 18,000ft but set back once you have decended below that altitude.
I thought I would never have to say it but … it seems like it’s back to a fully modded XP11 since MSFS doesn’t seem to go in any favourable direction at all. It’s outrageous what’s been happening since August of last year. Despite the ultimate hype that I had last experienced when FSX was announced some 15 years ago, I have only started up the new sim every other month since release, and that really is saying something. What a shame.
Things I’m seeing on xbox series x that didn’t exist before:
Serious:
No night flying as the night lighting is completely absent or messed up.
Photogrammetry is messed up. Always morphing and changing when panning the camera, especially in built up places like Tokyo, London, Seattle and Miami. Never had that as a major problem before.
Micro stutter is back
Medium but still there from SU5:
Third party airports have had no updates so assets still do not work properly
Constant popping in of textures and statics
No jetways at some airports
This all really needs to be fixed as its draining. Just when you think the game is in a sweet spot all hell breaks lose again.
The Series X was in a sweet spot performance wise on release graphically/frame rate wise. It now seems a bit off that sweet spot after trying to address bugs which is what i’ve been fearing all along. I’d try a reinstall, but surely we can’t be expected to do that after every update. It’s an enormous install on a 30MBPS broadband. I will eagerly hold out for next hotfix & SU6. Before FS2020 was relased I was killing time playing Steep (an expansive snowboarding game). Played it straight every day for 2 months on the series X at 4K. Graphicaly wonderful. Only one CTD in those 2 months. I think I’m up to 20 CTD’s with FS2020 since July release.
Just like to add, went back in to FS2020 this afternoon did a few landing challenges, finished them, went and did a 40 min flight in the Neo, landing fine, no issues, frame rate fine. Makes me wonder if streaming services are affecting CTDs, as it was stable looking, high res and no stutters when panning around the cockpit this afternoon. Maybe Saturday afternoon is server quiet time🤷♂️ It has to be something like that or we have an unpredictable Jekyll and Hyde like simulator. I did turn off real time traffic (as well as AI traffic), but live traffic has been working OK for me before this update. Maybe I’ll leave it all off for now and see how things go.
I’m absolutely convinced this is the case. I find the performance of the sim can, at times, vary from day to day. The only variable is the streaming data as nothing else changes.
I’m convinced it’s the root cause of many CTD’s too.
You should look at thread on many (not all) PC users experiencing a similar thing. They don’t CTD but their frame rates go from 60fps to 5fps making it almost unplayable. Always on longer flights. Maybe the XBox just manifests the really low fps into a CTD where as PCs hold it together a bit but at very low fps.
Yeah you could very well be right that overall in the core sim something is there on those long haul final approaches that needs a look. I don’t know, but on Xbox nearly every long haul will ctd on final or just before. The odd time you get lucky and land (but probably ctd while taxiing lol).
And if it’s not that, often times all instrument screens go black, making it all but impossible to complete some more challenging landings after hours in flight. It seems to be some kind of memory leak, and mostly unique to Xbox, but it’s a real bummer when it seemingly randomly happens.
They have a few workarounds, but none are consistent across users. They vary from toggling real time traffic off then on again (buffer filling up?) to saving flghts when it happens and restarting them. You’d need to read the long thread (and there are others, been going on since April). It’s all long flights though. They are also reporting that their GPU use when it happens is LOW. Yes LOW. so its more like a buffer filling up or something else maxing out. Dunno.
The thread I read though for info is here (a lot of parallels, but many different PC platforms/specs)-
