NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 576.52 Discussion

Summary

590.10 (bugfix_main) is on the wild. Soon they will release new driver i think, or they will wait new 24H2 fixes. If anyone wanna test.

Windows 11 24H2 and MSFS: observations, insights, issues and tips - #171 by DrewmorKuZy

Interesting. On my multi monitor setup with two side views and a central monitor, I’m sometimes finding that at random, the two side monitors will just randomly cut their displayed frame rate in half. I lock the to 50% VSYNC with a 60Hz monitor, so all three displays usually display 30FPS without issue. A couple of days ago however, out of owhere, I started to see the two side screens drop their FPS whilst the main screen remained locked at 30FPS (the FPS counter also maintained 30FPS).

Only way of fixing that is to ALT-TAB each of the side windows into window mode and then back to full screen. It might run OK for another 10 minutes and then just randomly cut in half again.

Not sure if its a driver issue or a sim issue…

GeForce Hotfix Display Driver version 576.66

Tried hotfix but still getting DXGI crash

RTX 5080

In which GPU?

Likely simply a v-sync issue. What Is VSync, and Should You Enable It?

“If the device connected to the display cannot produce frames at a sufficient rate, the current frame will persist for two refreshes, dropping the FPS to half the refresh rate.”

Hi,

FE RTX 5080

So this is interesting: I had settled on running TAA with my 5070Ti and hadn’t tried DLSS in 576.52 till just yesterday and hmmm, DLSS looks better to me this week than some weeks ago. Will do some flights in DLSS today and through the weekend, but my tentative albeit subjective hypothesis is that the current driver may have improved upon DLSS in 24.

I doubt it’s the driver version itself, but is it possible that you are now running DLSS4 preset K (which offers vastly improved image quality over older presets) as opposed to some other setting earlier? You can check by enabling the on screen debug info of the driver.

Just landed the PMDG 777-200ER at handcrafted JFK in SU2 and OMG JFK never looked so good, and with frame rates in the 50s! While this is no doubt due to preset K DLSS: I had tried preset K in earlier 50xx drivers and was not so impressed back then. Also, I saw in a YT video recently about DLSS that the drivers are where NVIDIA delivers game-specific instruction sets for DLSS, so I really think something improved starting with 576.52 for MSFS. Tomorrow I will fly 2020 in DLSS (DX12) to see if my hypothesis holds up. Cheers!

I always thought TAA was the holy grail until someone on the forum explained how DLAA works and why it’s better. Since then, I have been using DLSS with Preset K, with the DLAA setting and never look back except to check FPS differences occasionally. I don’t use FG.

DLAA does reduce FPS slightly and uses more resources. But for me it’s worth it.

2024 has had DLSS 310,1 for a while and when switching to preset K the sim uses DLSS 310.2.1.

2020 is still using DLSS 2.4.12. I don’t know if using the latest presets in the Nvidia App for 2020 would be as impressive as using with 2024. I haven’t messed around with the settings lately as I rarely use 2020.

Coldplay - are you complaining about 576.52 - if so, what driver did you go back to and then your FENIX screens are OK?

Flying the 777F now in 2020, and wow! I tried really hard to like DLSS a month or two ago. Got into DLSS Swapper, preset K, etc. After trying a bunch of different setting combinations that you and others have recommended, I went back to TAA and called it a day. If the latest preset k DLSS looked/performed this good back then I would have dropped TAA for 2020 as well as 2024.

Ok so this is all super subjective, but preset k DLSS is nearly as good in 2020 today as it was for me in 2024 yesterday (SU2). The only thing that has changed from a month or two ago was 576.52 (from whatever driver NVIDIA was pushing for my 5070Ti back then). This driver is different for me and if the gains are maintained, I’m done with TAA and am now a DLSS convert, at least on Quality setting. Getting 50-60 FPS on my 60Hz HDTV with no FG, and all other settings the same as last week in TAA.

I would like your opinion with the DLAA setting instead of the Quality setting. :slightly_smiling_face:

I tried DLAA yesterday in 24 and didn’t like it as much as DLSS/Quality in 576.52, but it was close. While we are both on 16GB cards, I have not limited my frame rate to 30 FPS, so perhaps that is a factor? With the weekend coming I may try DLAA again however for me right now either DLAA or DLSS in this driver is a world of difference than previous drivers. Seriously, I will scurry back to TAA at the drop of a Captain’s hat, so this is really something different happening on my PC. Cheers!

I’m in the same boat as you regarding using the Quality setting. It has become much better. And yup, I am still limiting my frame rates at 30 FPS using Vsync.

I might do some more experimenting as well this weekend and try 60 FPS with DLAA. It could very well be the quality of DLAA is affected depending on frame rates.

DLAA/DLSS image quality itself is fixed and will not be affected by FPS.
Using FG on the other hand will lower the internal render resolution and add graphical artifacts.

Technically DLAA is always better than DLSS at any quality level, since it is native and both share the same anti aliasing algo. That being said, DLSS on quality level at 4K has become nearly indistinguishable from DLAA now with preset K.

I have read so many conflicting things about getting DLSS 4 to work and preset K etc.

Would be mine telling me the exact steps that you did to make it all work?

Sure, used DLSS Swapper to bring in the latest for both flight sims; then selected the overrides in the NVIDIA app. Oops, there I said it. The NVIDIA app. Ok my PC is only 3 1/2 months old and it came installed, so I just started using it albeit with my own setting choices not the apps recommendations. (I get that folks a. have had problems with the app in the past and; b. there are other ways to go about this.) As a result, both 2020 and 2024/SU2 now run the latest DLSS version/preset K. There are posts and YT videos that walk one through this and that’s how I learned how to do it. The thing is, for me at least, it had not all come together as something that truly works/works well on my PC until 576.52 and that is why I have been posting about it on this thread.
