[Official] Community Fly-In Friday: World Tour Stage 2: Washington to Ottawa

We will be hosting an Official Fly-in alongside a group of community members (you!) on Twitch. This is an open event, free to all who would like to fly along with us and available to pilots of all skill levels. The goal is to have a great time, explore new locations of the world, and make new friends. This event is open to pilots on both the PC and Xbox platforms.

FLIGHT DETAILS

Welcome back from the holiday break! We hope everyone was able to relax and recharge over the past few weeks as we are now continue our Community Fly-In Friday World Tour!

This week we will pick up from where we landed last time from the USA capital city of Washington, DC and fly to Ottawa, Canada’s capital. En route, we will fly over the majestic Niagara Falls and the largest city in Canada, Toronto!

We will be starting at KDCA. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: for this flight, we are recommending any aircraft of your choice with a cruise speed of 300 knots or greater.

MULTIPLAYER SETTINGS

Please adhere to the following settings so you can see everyone / be seen by everyone.

It is advised in this flight to turn off both aircraft collisions and terrain collisions. If you do crash, you can use “slew” mode to join the pack. If the pack will be too scattered before the first stop, we will use slew on a defined point to regroup.

I’m sure I slightly modded the route, but with it being part of the around the world flight does the route really matter?

I chose the F-18 for my plane, first time I took it on a long flight

Tried to test this yesterday, but get reproducable CTDs over washington even with community folder empty and in save mode. Even tried different drivers and deactivation of photogrammetry, multiplayer and air-traffic. Setting buildings to low and other things. Nothing helped. It’s frustrating.

I can fly just fine anywhere else outside a 20-30 mile radius of washington without CTDs, or random other points in the world, just not there.

Was able to fly World Tour Stage 1 into washington just fine last time.

I either sit this one out or start somewhere outside washington.

Edit: was able to fix it, it was this problem after i reinstalled Capture One a couple of days ago. I remembered that when i stumbled across this thread:

CTDs can be caused by many reasons. This one is rather exotic and I like to share my findings for anyone with the same problem. I experienced many in-flight CTDs for weeks (or even months) and was not able to complete any flight for months. Analyzing the windows error reporter logs I found a few suspicous dll files loaded into the MSFS process. These files belong to a codec installed by Capture One 20 and are not needed to run MSFS. Happy New Year. Nice flight to fly along. I probably have some broken landing gear after bouncing hard on a couple of the touch and go waypoints.

I flew this leg today, because I didn’t have the time earlier.
Brilliant landscape, full of snow. Very beautiful.
Chose the Daher TBM. This is listed with a cruise speed of 330kts. I only could get something like 230. Am I missing something?
