FLIGHT DETAILS

The Community Fly-In Friday World Tour continues, and now for the first time in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 as well!

This week, we’re departing Poland and flying to our next world capital city, Minsk!

We also have a very special in-flight entertainment video featuring members of the MSFS Team and player community! We will broadcast the video upon reaching cruise altitude, with several members of the cast and crew joining for an audience Q&A following the approximately 45-minute performance. Long-time attendees of past Fly-In Friday events may remember this from previous years, but for many new viewers who have joined our group flights recently, this will be their first opportunity to see this special performance. Please no spoilers in chat from people who are already familiar with this video!

MSFS (2020) Pilots on PC can download the .pln file here:
2024-12-20 World Tour Stage 39 Warsaw to Minsk.PLN (1.2 KB)

MSFS 2024 Pilots on both PC and Xbox can import the flight plan from the new Flight Planner tool by clicking this link:

You can find instructions on how to load a flight plan from the Flight Planner website to your in-sim EFB on your PC or Xbox console on our forums here.

We will be starting at EPWA. Please load your aircraft 10 minutes prior to take off and taxi over to the runway in preparation for departure.

AIRCRAFT

Recommended aircraft: Cirrus SR22, Diamond DA62, Extra 330LT, Pitts Special, Joby S4, or any aircraft of your choice with a cruise speed of ~150 knots. Though not strictly required, we do highly encourage players to choose an aircraft with an autopilot function so you can relax and enjoy the in-flight entertainment at cruise altitude.

Did the flight, at night. I really enjoy the fixes they done for night flying:

The flight plan in the 2024 planner seems to just be direct from the first to last airport, as opposed to the screenshot in this post that shows a stop just north of the direct path. Loaded in directly as it exists in the link, it looks like this:

It seems like the added airport is likely UMMG?

I had a quick look into the file for MSFS2020. There is a waypoint at UMMG

I had the impression that we are stuck in an tight area and the world tour is not really a world tour anymore. Could we have a different approach than doing legs from point a to point b and the week after from point b to c and to really discover the world and not just Europe? I mean Asia, Africa, India, Caraïbes ? MSFS is providing a wide variety of lanscapes and it is a little bit shame to be stuck in an area for months. I have aprreciate much the fact to be in gran canyon for instance…

Can’t seem to load into 2020, nor little navmap. Not a supported format?

Same problem here, flightplan 2020 does not load, 2024 loads in EFB, but only departure/destination in aircraft (Cirrus SR22). And as a bonus toolbar refuses to appear to change weather. Well, I tried, again…

I loaded into 2024, got the checkpoints from there, manually made a new pln in 2020 as a workaround. Apparently the pln maker needs to make the plans in 2020 to support both sims…

Now i just finished the flight and it was nice, not much to see besides a lot of snow covered fields and trees. Although i used all the correct settings i could not see any other planes in the air, but i could see everyone on the map.

Looks like you guys took a whole different route and landed at another airport than the one in the flightplan.

Decided to hop in on MSFS2020 for this one, felt like taking out this jet (helped that I started late so I needed a bit of a boost to catch up).

Bit of formation practice with this VisionJet on the way

Band of misfits taking up the wing on Alyson.

Merry Christmas all!

As if a Christmas miracle, my MS2024 arrived just in time for today’s community flight. Still a lot of figuring out to do, but was happy to be able to join the flight while enjoying the in-flight entertainment. Merry Christmas, happy holidays and a happy new year to everyone of the flight sim community!
