PMDG 737 Discussion (Xbox Series S|X version)

Thank you for your words. Indeed I think it’s NOT PMDG , but it’s maybe just a coincidence it happened 2 out of 3 times with it.

I contacted msfs already and hope they find and answer where lies the problem. Maybe something with rolling cache / saved data.

No problem mate, hope it gets resolved for you promptly.

Hello to everyone!!!

question is someone here that have problem with ILS frenquency and course not change automatic? Its first time have this problem with B737 and is like this for many days *

I have knowledge with PMDG many years so I do everything correct for ILS approach *

I have this issues : frenquency stuck 110.50 on RTP

LNAV saw me B/CRS no localizer vertical or horizontal

Course stuck on 037

Last update AIRAC 2604*

Flight plan upload from Simbrief

Thank you

I’m an Xbox Series x PMDG B737 pilot..
what system are you running and with what settings…
which PMDG B737 variant and config were you flying and what approach?

I haven’t had any problems with the 800 or 900 - they are two of the best performing aircraft in the sim for me - except the 900 had a nav data download failure today.

Normally when I have big troubles with avionics freezes or similar, it come down to add ons I’ve installed or pilot error ( I’m a lousy FO sometimes so it’s often my fault ) I keep a log now of installed add ons and problems. In MSFS2024 on Xbox series X I find I get best performance from PMDG aircraft if I install rather than stream them….

Thank you for the answer !!! I run it on Xbox s *

Only live weather ON all the rest is OFF

I have this issues on default EKCH
Before that issue the course turn automatic and also the frenquency ILS but no anymore !!

B737-800

And yes also for me PMDG is the best aircraft that have in msfs 2024

The ILS frequency in the 737 does NOT automatically tune. You have to manually set the frequency yourself on the nav radio control panels in the center console. You also have to manually set the ILS course with the course knobs on the autopilot control panel.

Yes ofcourse I can manually set the course and the ILS frenquency but the think is that always be automatically *

So is something that doesn’t work correctly and I’m not wrong I have many hours on PMDG !!! And same airport with the B777-300ER no problem everything good ILS frenquency course everything works !

I will have some flights later on to figure out !

And again is thanks to PMDG that I enjoy my SIM so I don’t complain or something is just that I want to understand!!!

The real 737 is not like the 777 where the ILS tunes automatically. The pilot must set both frequency and course manually. The 737 has no ability to do that automatically.

Thank you for the help :airplane:

Just got the hi-fidelity(?) 737-600 update. I hate to say it (and genuinely hope I’m wrong), but my worst fears seem to have been realised and a performance hit is noticeable (jerkiness near the ground being the most obvious hit).

Has anyone else noticed a change in performance? I’m on XboxX.

Personally I find the PMDG (I’ve got the 737-800 and 777-300ER) products perform better than the 1st party aircraft included with the sim on Xbox series X. One thing definitely to note - make sure you download and install rather than stream for the 737. It works much better that way

Hi. I agree - PMDG aircraft perform brilliantly on the wonder box in general.

My question was specific to today’s “high-fidelity” update.

Do you get the intermittent stutters at cruise in the 777, like every 90secs a slide show for 3 seconds then back to normal? If not I might try downloading

Ah sorry I didn’t know this was a thing. Well that’s not so good

I don’t. So definitely worth downloading it. And also avoid using ATC after takeoff

I used to get stutters but not any more - mine disappeared when, as @Azlog says, I installed the PMDG aircraft on Xbox rather than streamed them, I also think PMDG made some updates that solved some of the underlying issues too. But my PMDG aircraft perform better than most of the stock MSFS aircraft on Xbox… I’ve got the 737-800, 737-900 and the 777-200LR and 777F installed and they are an absolute joy to fly. Will be in the queue for the PMDG 747-800 when it arrives…

Had first ever instances of WASM crashes on PMDG B737 yesterday. They were repeatable.

Delta B737-900ER BW, two class. kSFO-KDTW, gate D8 0715z. Clicking on the RKCTY RNAV approach caused a repeatable (3 times in all) WASM crash.

Now I’ve also noted that after several weeks of use the sim increasingly reverts to last-flight aircraft/location on load and takes longer to start this happened yesterday directly after the WASM crashes. I tried to set up a new flight from KPDX to KLAX with the United 737-900ER and was taken back to the gate at kSFO with the Delta variant. Clearing my16 GB rolling cache restored normal behaviour and this morning I’m in the middle of the KSFO-KDTW flight that gave me the WASM crashes yesterday… so of course it’s always difficult to correlate these things but I do wonder if Rolling Cache is causing issues somehow which can exacerbate WASM crashes.

In terms of add ons Additional info:-
I’ve got 4 PMDG aircraft installed - B737-800, B737-900, B777-200LR, and B777F. I’m streaming the Kodiak100, FlightFX Hondajet and Px180 and the A2A Aerostar 600, also have Seafront simulations Global Shipping and marine database installed.

Edit- I’m on SU4.

Don’t know whether any of this is helpful..

I will give it some time to settle until the run for the update is over. I tried to download the -600 two times yesterday. One download failed, the other attempt failed to install after downloading.

Extremely slow loading, also when changing the liveries. Think it may be a server issue, not on PMDG side.

Probably better to delete the Rolling Cache. Are installed addons also saved into the rolling cache?

Th installed aircraft are on Reserved Space.
But I’m not entirely sure how RC works on Xbox either - based on the info we’ve been given at any rate - To date I’ve found that on MSFS2024 16GB seems optimal for me but others have set theirs up bigger. I find that larger than 16GB gives me much morel likelihood of flights not loading correctly (reversions) and longer load times in Free Flight…
I’m starting to think that resetting RC once a week might be a good bit of housekeeping …

Edit: it’s very rare for me to have any issues with PMDG aircraft on Xbox

I use 32Gb rolling cache and clear it by reducing to 1Gb and then back up to 32Gb. I’d say that I don’t clear it all that often but I do it every time there’s a beta update or sim update. Also occasionally if one of my installed aircraft is updated but shouldn’t really need to

I’ve only ever had a couple of WASM crashes in PMDG aircraft on 24. The first was in the 737 just after it got upgraded for 24 and I was getting it when I was loading the simbrief plan into the FMC. I disabled my “real taxiway signs” addon and that fixed it. I also got it randomly after parking at the gate in the 777 at a default airport (Addis Ababa) after a 3 hour flight but after clearing the rolling cache after that I haven’t had another since
