PMDG Douglas DC-6

I think you’re blaming the wrong folks - the SU4 beta was where a lot of tinkering with WASM happened and it broke a lot of aircraft. Some of us reported the problem- it was extensive and needed a rethink. MS/Asobo preferred to release it when it shouldn’t have been let through the door… it is going to take months or longer for most of the aircraft with issues caused by the SU4 beta to be fixed…
It was a very poor effort to release SU4 like that.

I dunno, they (PMDG) were blaming LOD issues that they claimed Asobo needed to fix. It’s always some sort of ping pong game between them and Asobo, but in the end we’re left in a holding pattern.

They haven’t, to date, mentioned WASM changes as the reason for the delays.

Well, for me at least on Xbox, the DC6 stopped working after one of the SU4 betas, a long with a host of other aircraft issues - I’m assuming it was WASM related.

We will soon have some time for the DC-6. But keep in mind that the FS2024 version will not be a full rebuild like our 777 and 737, but just a ‘making it work’ project.

That will be good enough for me. I had no complaints as it worked in FS2024 from day one and it still is one of my all time favourites :+1:

Same for me. The DC-6 flies so much nicer in FS2024; we have no idea why, but it just feels a lot more ‘logical’. Add to that the better world and clouds and it’s a great match.

Yep …definitely looks like a recent change has broken the DC6 in 2024!

Fingers crossed you can get a fix for it ….because before it was working well in 24.

some part of the cockpit textures were not even at msfs2020 level. it has no chance in msfs24 with these setbacks

Once you guys are done with all your current airliner projects like the 74s and all the relivant 37 and 77 updates are all done…

Any possibility that you giys will branch out into the world of turbo props that haven’t graced our Sim yet…

Aircraft like the metro, dashies, convairs, 1900s and going back to these timeless classics such as the dc6 with a full 2024 update

even if I don’t understand why despite the DC6 need less work it is always put in the background for Fs 2024 compatibility, its only a making it work ?!

Luckily for us it won’t be "build up from the ground” so myabe no addulitional cupofcoffe fee :thinking::wink:

I think what he means is that they aren’t currently planning on developing a 2024 Native version of the DC-6. They just want to eliminate or at least reduce the number of bugs in the plane. So, no walkaround or other 2024 features. But it will fly.

It has no chance with who? I’m looking at the picture you sent and I’m trying to figure out why I wouldn’t purchase it based on the image you’re showing. I’m sorry you don’t like flying it for whatever reason you have a problem with whatever you see in that image. Looks like a couple of canvas covers too me. I’m not sure what’s wrong with them in my own opinion.

You’re right. It’s a hideous piece of old junk…

Can’t wait to get my hands on it in 2024 :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Same. Hence my repeated begging for it.

I’ll be happily flying it in 2024 with a “No Chance in 2024” themed livery. (Maybe it should be “No Pants in 2026” hmm…)

If you don’t have any problem with fsx style 2d cockpit textures (below ss from p3d) , then no problem for me. But I got used to high standard cockpit and 3d model quality that came with MSFS2024/2020

Exactly how much time do you spend staring at the side of the cockpit? I really don’t see anything wrong there. Maybe it isn’t the highest resolution texture, but it also appears to be a piece of canvas? I’m sorry you can’t see beyond that.

It is not only low res, but also 2d picture.

Criteria is not the staring time. If it was, fenix, tfdi, inibuilds wasting their time by modeling the planes rivets by rivets inside out. Even pmdg itself, why don’t we see these type of textures in new 737?

As I mentioned before, if you are happy with it, there is absolutely no problem. But I played fs9 and fsx enough back in time.

Would I like to see those textures improved? Yes.

Is that alone enough to condemn one of, if not, the only seriously well done vintage four-engined radial aircraft in the entire sim? No.

If there is another vintage aircraft available for the sim that can truly compete with the DC-6, tell me where it is.

I am not condemning anything. I just don’t like how they treat this product because it is not selling good compared to 737 or 777.

That has more to do with the market than anything else. The market for radial engine steam gauges is pretty small. There are the vociferous users who don’t really want anything to do with glass cockpits and love vintage aircraft, like me, but, the market for modern airliners is huge compared to planes like this. And PMDG treats it accordingly, as they should.

I’m mainly glad that PMDG put the effort into it that they did and released it to market. It was a pretty risky decision for the business-wise to produce this at all. Especially when they first released it. It was literally one of the first good planes released for 2020.
