Okay, PMDG, I am seriously jonesing for a 2024 version of the DC-6, already!
Preach, brother.
Maybe they will get to that after they complete to roll-out of the 737 series for FS2024.
it sseems they are all on the 737ā¦dc 6 is alway secondary for pmdgā¦because the majority of simmer is for that aircraft type
Is the DC-6 broken for anyone else after the Stranger Things update? My DC-6 is unflyable, I checked my control bindings for conflicts and I canāt operate the AFE or any of the major controls. I also canāt unlock the control yoke. Really odd - everything was working basically correct on Dec 9th, then this mandatory Stranger Things content update and now the airplane is not operable. Anyone else having the same issue?
Yes, it has been broken for me as you describe for the last few SU4 beta (and now release) versions.
In my case it is not tied to Stranger Things.
Incidentally, it still works on one of my PCs. The odd part being both PCs have had a full fresh uninstall/reinstall of the sim, so all new sim files, fresh WASM compilations, freshly synced user data, etc.
I cannot understand why it works on one machine, but not the other. The one it works on is Intel/Nvidia/1080p and the one it doesnāt work on (my sim PC) is AMD/AMD/4k. I dunno if that has any bearing on it, at all.
Thanks for letting me know, it is maddening. I received some sort of WASM error across the radio stack when my DC-6 shut down this week.
All the attention on the 737 800 but i want to know something about development for DC6 in fs2024
They said when they are done updating the 737s, they will look at the DC6
I have no idea how, but I managed to get N6PM to load sans WASM errors.
So until I can sort out what is going on with the other versions/liveries I, at least, can fly the DC-6.
EDIT:
I just love shutting down an engine and feathering a prop:
I dropped the layout.json file in the PMDG DC-6 Liveries folder onto MSFSLayoutGenerator and that cured my WASM error issues with the non-default liveries. Well, it did as far as the ones I tested.
Iāll have to try that later. At least itās a simple fix!
Does that also fix third party liveries showing as separate aircraft in the selection screen instead of showing in the Liveries tab?
Unfortunately, no. To fix that requires some editing of the aircraft.cfg file that is part of the livery. Any edits will need to be followed up with the use of the layout generator tool.
I havenāt had consistent success getting the edits right, but I think it is probably due to me being hasty with my fixes.
Take a look at this guide:
Thanks for linking that thread, Iāll look it over.
Apologies if my incessant posts about this are tiresome.
Iāve noted an additional detail. Iāve needed to, first, load into the PMDG House liveried version of the DC-6 in order for subsequent loads in a non-PMDG House liveried version to not have the WASM errors. This may have been what fixed my issue vs. using Layout Generator (however, if youāve never done the Layout Generator step for 2024, you will still need to. Iād done this months ago, but thought perhaps I needed to do it again for the latest SU).
I have not, yet, determined if this is a one-shot deal or if this is needed with each quit/launch cycle of the sim.
The plot thickensā¦. Iām sure PMDG will fix it, but I really hope thatās sooner rather than years from now.
My DC6 no longer shows up as one of my aircraft in 2024. I fly the sim fairly regularly, and as far as I know, itās all caught up on updates. Any ideas on things I can try to bring it back? Thanks.
Last night I loaded up the DC-6A with a 3rd party livery and all was peachy ā systems worked and no WASM errors. However, I didnāt get to fly.
Today, I loaded up the same, with the intention to fly, and no dice ā WASM errors. None of my usual tricks to get it working are doing anything.
ARGH.
I know PMDG needs to prioritize monetization with the 737 upgrades (and 747 series after), but they said they were going to update the DC-6 for 2024 and had even made timeline statements, said it was close, etc. Frankly, they shouldnāt have made those statements if they werenāt going to get it done in a timely fashion. I donāt participate in PMDG bashing, but Iām pretty disappointed in the lack of follow through on the, much needed, update.
i think is more than one year i hear from them that Pmdg dc6 update is near release, meanwhile prioritize 737 aircraft releases (because is the majority of the public request ?!)
