[Polls] Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Marketplace Feedback

If it’s intentional, it’s a cynical way of doing business. Buying Simverse coins doesn’t even get you a discount. (In fact, you can even save a few pennies – literally, only pennies – by buying the coins in smaller quantities.)

Some totally amazing person logged a bug report about this a couple months ago.
Hopefully it gets fixed soon, as it’s annoying. And the funny thing is that if you go and take a flight and come back to the menus, it shows up again.

That’s how HoYo and Epic make billions every year, lots of little tricks like this. And I say that as someone who regularly plays Fortnite.

As I understand it, the EU recently proposed regulations that would govern these sorts of fake currencies, allowing customers to buy the exact amount they need for a particular item. Let’s hope that passes.

I was going to make a wishlist item on this but I found one that may (or may not - I can’t tell) apply in the same way.

See this: Need better mod management features (load priorties/mod merging/conflict avoidance, etc) for users and devs - Official Microsoft Flight Simulator / Wishlist - Microsoft Flight Simulator Forums

We definitely need a fix.

If you select special offers, aircraft and 2024 only, there’s only one that isn’t mscenery. I wonder how many who buy “top ranked” ones from that list, thinking that there aren’t any other planes compatible with 2024?
I thought they said that the marketplace team worked hard on making it better in 2024? It’s still promoting shovel ware over quality in so many instances, despite ratings. the only good aircraft in that list with 4.5/5 is second to last in recommended.

Same thing in the regular airplane section. First section is nearly 100% mscenery for recommended, only one other maker and then an upgrade for me. High-quality like the Hawk T1 from Just flight only first shows up in row eight, far behind all the spammed out shovel ware.

It is disrespectful to the devs that put in a lot of work and love into their products and confusing for any user that isn’t following a ton of reviews and FS media.

Clean install on a new PC and after I hit play and the start sequence … click start and get to the menu and go to set graphics options and I get immediately taken to Market Place with a “null” and Ok button. Clicked on everything try to exit and nothing … followed by eventual CTD.

I thought after 6 months MSFS 2024 would be at least playable, I was wrong. However, on the plus side, I was issued a $199 refund (Aviator edition).

Shame, maybe I’ll try again next year.

Make no mistake, Mscenery, Brodek3d and Captain Sim have been given the a huge opportunity for the casual simmer to make casual purchases
This is completely intentional, to maximize sales in the MP. I mean if PMDGs 777 was there nobody would have purchased captain sims. Also the above devs have a nack to release an aircraft months prior to a study level version, it’s not a coincidence. Captain Sim or someone will release a 747 just prior to PMDG. Just like the A380, 777 and 737 before.
They will deny this, but it’s true
The 2024 MP is a joke, we need new release tab, an upgrade tab. It’s messy, confusing and thus don’t wanna look at it

I agree with mostly everything you’re saying about layout of the MP.

I think though, if the PMDG 777 was available at the same time as CS, some people would still buy CS. Not everyone wants to pay the PMDG price, or wants to have the full systems experience. They want to hop in a big metal tube that looks modern and fly over some cool scenery. And that’s totally valid.

Personally I’m not a fan of devs like CS or MScenery. However, I can see there is a need for the part of the market they are mostly targeting. In the time I have been simming for, this quality used to be average freeware. I disagree with how they sell it, the value they put on the items, and when they choose to release.

Just wanted to drop my 2 cents here as well.
I am not a UI or UX expert, but the few times I have opened the marketplace I didn’t feel invited at all to browse it.

It doesn’t look clean or organized, it looks like I’m looking at a magnification of something.. Almost as if Windows set my resolution back to 640x480 and all the information is not fitting my screen anymore. It doesn’t look appealing or modern to me at all, nor is it intuitive.

I’m not a fan of these rule based interfaces, though I know why they exist. I hated the look of Windows 8/8.1, and refused to use it.

The issue isn’t that they exist, the issue is that they tend to basically monopolize the prime spaces by flooding, creating a feedback loop.

With each passing day, I see more and more reasons to just ignore the marketplace altogether. I hope marketplace-only devs are paying close attention to customer trends, because I can’t possibly be the only one feeling like this.

I highly doubt they’d deny it - there’d be no reason to. It’s a valid business form. The patient and more wealthy will wait for the better, more expensive option. The impatient, the youtubers wanting to review things and the less wealthy will buy the cheaper one. I doubt PMDG and the like worry about it. They don’t lose sales because of a cheap knock off coming first. If they were worried about it, they’d simply not announce what they were working on until BAM.. it hit the store.

A couple of them have already said 80+% of their sales come from the MP. It’s huge. There’s a number of people on the forum complaining, but didn’t one of the mods say some time ago that they figure it’s around 1.5% of users use the forums? We’re all the extreme minority.

Fair point.

What exactly does it mean if an aircraft is tagged “Permanently incompatible”? This appeared with SU2. Anyone knows this?

It means that the developer has deemed that addon incompatible with MSFS 2024, and they will not be making it compatible in the future.
Note that in one instance when that happened to me, the developer came out with a new 2024 version and left the 2020 version permanently incompatible. There was another developer that deemed one of their products permanently incompatible, only to remove that designation later.

Ok, my 182Q behaves like that, it doesn’t work in 2024.

But why does it show then at all? If I will never be able to use it I don’t want to see it in my library.

In 2020 I own the CAS J3. In 2024 it is tagged as “permanently incompatible” in my library, so I didn’t enable it. Still, I have this aircraft available and can fly it. It’s a 2024 version as I have to remove chocks during the walkaround.

Very strange.
