A little bit of clarification here. Itās a DIY flight enthusiast cockpit builder project. Iām not selling any āitemsā or physical products. This has not started with any intention of selling anything at all. Just sharing my project with the community. My 2DOF Motion Simulator cockpit project is still absolutely free for all, including all the materials, etc. My 6DOF build process and most information, photos, videos etc. is all published for free - this is not a commercial project. People can get inspired and build a similar rig based on my photos and videos, without paying a dime. But I have been asked by several people to publish detailed plans, and those plans (including schematics, BOMs, custom 3D part morels etc) I made available for a fee, because it took a lot of time to produce those. Unlike my sceneries, this is not a business venture, and itās not likely Iām going to even compensate the time spent on the project by offering the plans for sale. āAdvertisingā in the forum would not change that. So it would be a lousy business model to try to earn a profit. Iām not entirely sure if itās within the rules. I thought it was not a problem, but I may be mistaken. If needed, any mention of the plans could be removed; thatās not why I posted it. Iām just excited about the possibility of building a full motion 6DOF VR sim for under $1000 in parts (Iām not selling the parts, itās just a budget estimate!), and wanted to share this, because many people do not realize itās even remotely possible. All the tools and software for building something like this are free - go ahead and build it, itās an awesome experience that takes MSFS to a whole new level. My plans are not required for that, they just make it easier. They donāt even guarantee success, itās still a barely tested DIY project. I wonāt take more bandwidth with this, but just wanted to clarify what itās aboutā¦
Thank you very much for the clarification - itās much appreciated. In my opinion, perhaps the Code of Conduct could be expanded and made a bit more precise to avoid any misunderstandings or misinterpretations in the future.
Thanks again for taking the time to explain everything so clearly.
I think we can get back to sharing photos of our cockpits. I would post a picture of my command center, but I keep making changes to it, so Iāll hold off for a little while longer.
That said, below is one part of my gaming rig.
Winwing PFP 3N
The Winwing 3XO was the latest addition - awesome if you like flying the A320 as much as I do.. The nice thing about it was that it allowed me to use the odyssey monitor strictly as a cockpit window. Throw in a couple of old Kindle Fireās for the gauges (thank you spacedesk) and even though things are a little off-center, I think Iām doneā¦(hopefully).
Just something I already had and havenāt felt the need to upgrade (yet)- I found it to be well made - and you canāt beat the $39 price. If it ever goes I may go with the TCA Airbus one just to keep the motif going. But Iāve also seen some really good reviews of Winwingsā Ursa Minor joysticks. Iād be interested to get some feedback from folks on here who use that one.
As I found myself flying more choppers than planes in the last couple of months. I decided to add a little something. Fits like a glove between the throttle and seat:
Why not use SimXr or OpenKneeboard ? Thatās what Iām going to install to use with my VR setup as soon as my G1000 touch screens arrive (hopefully) next month.
Same collective setup I bought from Virpil for my helo flying. I paid for it in March and was told yesterday that it should arrive next week (fingers crossed). They make great products, just sloooooow to deliver, like all the other better quality producing companies.
