Real Environment Xtreme Announcement | REX Weather Force Weather Engine

Yes. Why didn’t you just nose dive into the hole to find out :joy::man_facepalming:t3:

My passengers would not have appreciated it.

Since the WorldUpdate today, REX crashes my sim everytime when loading realtime weather. Has anybody the same issue?

I have about 5 Gigs to go (gotta download the UK update) and then I will test it as I am doing a Carribean Bush Trip with REX since that Bush Trip has clear weather as default. Will report my findings. I was wondering if Asobo would eventually nuke REX since it goes against their policy.

Yes. REX was working fine until this update and now I get CTD every time. Disabled all my add-ons and enabled one by one and REX was the issue.

REX is 86 until they update it.

Same here… :\

Same on mine too

Same here. Thought it might be mod plane (was using Working Title CJ4) so switched to default TBM and same thing; CTD a few seconds after injection is complete.

Same here…

Bought Rex Weather Force 2020 yesterday.
Did not work and asked Rex customer service what to do.
They wrote me in a e-mail today:
Hi Monique,
We are currently working on the Weather Force compatibility update for Microsoft Flight Simulator v.1.13.16. The update will be ready today once approved.

Had the Same issue !!

It’s updated and now ready for use with MSFS 1.13.16.

My old version was very buggy, as weather would pop in and out regardless of settings. Had to use DWP cause live was so bad. So I did not use it. But this recent update seems to have stabilized the live weather issue. It’s running very smoothly for me now. No ctd (yet). Bizarre that some are now having issues.

Personally, I find Rex very poor. Currently flying in Greenland and there is no snow at any airfield I have landed at. I’m at Kulasuk at the moment and it should be covered in snow. Very poor comsidering it is a paid for app. MSFS weather now appears to be far more accurate.

Hi, AKChiisai

I have it works pretty good; the only thing I have found is if you update it, you have to delete everything; the first time I did, I deleted all my information, including the Key. On top of that, I forgot where I purchased it, and that was a mess, but I got it worked out. I wouldn’t say I like the backup procedure. Everything else is fine.

Flew out of Brampton Ontario CNC3 in live weather and it had snow on the ground. Apparently REX will now detect if snow fell recently and how long it will stay on the ground in that region. Pretty cool :+1:

I find REX a great addon that adds a more realistic feel to weather.

However, main issue for me is that I mostly play shared cockpit (through YourControls) with friends. And although we have the same REX version, same MSFS parameters (position and time), real time weather does not produce the exact same weather for both of us.

This results in having cloud position and winds not being synced, and cause inconsistent info (for example, on the A320 FD and IAS differs). It’s a shame that “live weather” does not produce identical results on two machines configured in the same way.

We end up playing with stock weather engine when doing shared cockpit.

I’ve sent a support request to REX team, but have not yet got news from them.

The only disadvantage to default weather is that it doesn’t work currently. If they do make it work it should be way better than anything a METAR based weather engine can do because it can reproduce much higher resolution weather. With default weather you should be able to have rain on one end of the runway and sunshine at the other end. A METAR based engine can never do that.

Or course, this all hinges on Asobo actually getting the thing running properly. We’ll just have to wait and see if that’s even possible.

REX is terrible, don’t make the same mistake as me - don’t buy it. Apparently MS is working on its weather engine so will have to wait for that, in the meantime MS weather is better than REX by a landslide.
