Reflections look grainy, even if reflections are on ultra

request (#178810)
After several attempts, I was able to confirm that the source of the problem is ā€œCubemap Reflectionā€ (ReflectionProbe). The quality of cloud reflection on see proves it. Minimizing it from UserCfg.opt to 96 (ReflectionProbe) I get blurry pixellation but it doesnā€™t allow to turn it off completely.
What can cause this?

I too have the same problem, with su11 they broke something. Anyone with a solution please? :disappointed_relieved::sweat:

already possible to add a screenshot ( and Please not in Zoom-Level 5000% , just the original image without horrible strong zooming-in ) ? For interesst may also your system specs, the in-game resolution, also mention whether you also manually changed some settings in usercfg or nvidia-control-center, etc. ā€¦

Sorry I donā€™t understand much about computers, Iā€™m just a stylist. I havenā€™t changed anything, just updates to the simulator, in options everything is set to high level by default. Copy from System Information: Intel(R) Coreā„¢ i7-9750 CPU, 16.0GB RAM installed, 64-bit OS, x64-based processor, Windows 11 Pro 22H2. Where can I find more information? When I bought computers I remember having an nvidia. Iā€™ll post a picture as soon as I can. I see reflections with squares they are so ugly. thank you so much :fu:

the in-game resolution and a possible render-scale might be important ( graphic settings ), may be with lower resolutions such effects come more on top and therefore other users not can see it ( in special if users use zooming much ). Some users just tweak manually some settings ā€œjust everywhereā€ ( game files, nvidia settings, etc. ) and so we never can compare - therefore the question

Of course the performance of the whole system might also be a point ( in special for laptops ). But I assume its more depends on a specifiy setting or driver. Usually the ā€œhighā€ setting should be fine.
The most easy way to find out which GPU is installed, you can see if you open Taskmanager and the ā€œperformance tabā€, the driver version is also shown. Of course you see it also in the windows system information app ( components, graphics ).

so, i have nvidia 1650 super. Not a laptop, I have a pc and for me all the options are always the recommended ones and the resolution is that of the screen recommended! But lately Iā€™ve seen reflections of the clouds an ugly sea with little squares.

Hi @enri984 , could you kindly take a few screenshots of your graphics settings and post them into this bug report? Thank you!

Try turning off Antistropic Filtering in MSFS and instead set it to 16X in NVCP instead. That seems to have resolved for me along with the config file changes you already mentioned.

Sure, I uploaded just now and updated the title. I cannot load UserCfg.opt file. Tell me if I can do anything else. Thank you very much!

Ok thanks, i can try it and tell you if it works for me.

edit:

Unfortunately it doesnā€™t work for me, pixelation everywhereā€¦I was hoping for that though. Thanks anyway.

Thank you! I just edited your post slightly. Everything under the :loudspeaker: is a template for other people to respond to this bug report.

When I have pixelation issue, if I go to settings and reset the graphics to default and change it back again to what I had, it fixes the issue until it happens again next time.

That basically ties in with my thoughts that certain settings do not play nicely with each other and not all systems are affected ā€¦ If you could isolate the exact culprit(s) it could be of great help to other sufferers.

Hi, below is the response from NVIDIA Customer Care Technical Support ā€œsupport@nvidia.zendesk.comā€
(sorry for any translation errors)

"Hello Enrico,

Thank you for waiting!

At this moment I received feedback from the specialist department.

Colleagues inform me that this is a known anomaly that our engineers are already working on, in collaboration with Microsoft, to provide a solution. It is not possible for me to provide you with a precise timing for its resolution since I have no way of interfering in the line of work of the engineers but what I can tell you is that, as soon as the causes are identified, the solution packages will be developed which will then be distributed automatically in the form of new drivers or game patches, depending on where the cause of the anomaly lies.
I therefore invite you to keep both the game and the drivers at the most recent version; one of the future updates will be the bearer of good news.

The good news is that it shouldnā€™t be a hardware anomaly.
Thank you for bringing your case to our attention and for providing us with additional information that will help us find a solution.
I trust your understanding and hope that there is a positive change as soon as possibleā€¦

these default answers are so funny

You should ask AMD too:

May be they know why its seemingly only at your pc so worst, at least what you describe

PS: and may be one of the supporters ask you about zoom-levels, etc.

@MichaMMA since you have all this enthusiasm why donā€™t yourself ask AMD!
ā€¦and maybe we could meet all together for a drink!

I thought about to buy an AMD card, but I decided again for nvidiaā€¦ and still waiting that gigabyte send me an repaired mainboard back, so that I can use these card

But, I also not expect a different default answer from AMD then. And because you get similar same ā€œresultā€ on both cards , its may be not a hardware, driver, etc. thingā€¦ just normal , or settings related, or a resolution thing, or a OS setting related to resolution or scaling, etcā€¦ I think in special it depends on resolution and whether users use the zoom-function, can such ā€œrasteringā€ normal. Technics like such rastering is often used to reduce amount of pixels which needs to computed, but its usually only noticable in zoom or other rare situtions. Usually a reset of all manuall settings ( nvidia control center as also in-game ) can at least try to eliminate possible wrong settings. If that not helps, hmmmā€¦

Just yesterday I did a pc upgrade with Gigabyte RTX 3060 12 GB VRAM, 32 GB system RAM and PSU proportionate to the new GPU. These changes I had already planned, not because of this pixilation issue. In fact, absolutely nothing has changed (except improving everything globally). I continue to confirm that it is a software problem and I have done all possible tests together with Microsoft and NVIDIA assistance. We have confirmed that it is not a hardware problem. Regarding the zoom speech you say, I donā€™t quite understand what you mean, however I have everything absolutely predefined and I donā€™t like touching the Nvidia panel, I prefer not to mess it up.

PS. This problem before the latest sim updates did not exist.

Hiā€¦ yepā€¦ thats what I expected, just because you tried already the AMD card.

With ā€œzoomā€ I meant the zoom-with the mouse-scrollweel. May be it is just more noticable in high zoom levels, like we can see your example images, e.g. : https://forums.flightsimulator.com/uploads/default/original/4X/0/f/c/0fc306f1f92754c85d8076a9eb217f4487f08d3f.jpeg
The algoithm seems to work like/with dithering and may be in some situations these dithering-pattern is visible.
