Love your BAE 146
I only have it since a few days now and I’m still learning but it’s awesome! good job guys:)
You did it
great!!
Gotta get those “working class man and woman…” to those outback mines some how!!!.. Or did you make a “jailbreak…”
Did any aussies see what i did there… thats coning from a kiwi too…
I really hope you make it “virtually…” to New Zealand as well mate!!!
You will absolutely love it now you mentioned a it more about your msfs self…
Take the A32nx over from Any major port on the eastern coast and you reslly need to do a Queenstown RNP approach onto 23!!!
Take the Kodiak around some stunning Southern alps adventures!!! Milford sounds is a must!! Many STOL adventures await there!!! Maybe download one of those farm strips addons… Not quite Lukla but some challenging slopes around!!! North island has many little airstrips that will bring the white to your
…
Then of course…
Some BAE-146 flying mate!!!
Just remember that list of freeware airports as well as a a few payware… Go on and treat yourself… Or do what I do… Pay first “explaine later…”
Then like i said!!!
Just curious how you do that? Can you just do a “change aircraft” and the BAe 146 is somehow selectable, or is that not even necessary? Do you need both the RJ family rating and the ATR family rating for that to work?
Thinking of maybe doing the same thing for Air Wisconsin and swapping out the CRJ2 for the BAe 146 United Express if I can make that work…
Ah I’m currently mostly flying with Pilots Life App version 1. I did buy the version/chapter 2 as well, but so far I haven’t really used it and I’m not crazy about that type rating thing they introduced with it.
With version 1 you can just fly any aircraft you like. Currently using the Bae around the UK and the MD82 and 737 on the longer routes into W-Europe. Very enjoyable with all those 60 to 90 minutes flights in this particular schedule.
Ohh… got it. I am on version 2, actually your post got me curious, so I looked it up and ended up buying it. Still unemployed in that app and trying to figure out what I want to do… But guess maybe there is no way of using the BAe 146 in that app then, oh well. Still seems like fun and I can still fly my BAe 146 without it!
Yeah Chapter 2 is still in development quite a lot. I’ve seen some more community feedback regarding the type rating system and maybe they’ll offer a workaround for users that aren’t interested.
I see that version 1 is currently costing €20 and I would advertise it as more fun (less hassle) than chapter 2, but yeah, that’s on your budget. ![]()
I shared a nice moment with a VATSIM controller about an hour ago. The rather inundated Innsbruck approach controller (who also had a ‘Pan, Pan’ to deal with…) left me about 1000ft above the normal descent profile just before the FAF, and asked me “can you make the descent?”
To which I replied, “I’m a BAE-146, of course I can make that !” ![]()
Had the exact same thing happen to me at CYYC last week. Controller apologized for leaving me high… no problem. Then after landing he asked me if I wanted a fire truck sent out for my brakes. It’s just such nimble little beast.
the only thing missing from the plane is a better external modeling of the plane’s engines, since the lines do not seem very sharp, and a little more sharpness in rivets, does anyone think the same? I know that comparisons are hateful but the pmdg 737 has a much better engine modeling, it would be nice if justflight would give the engine modeling a spin since it is the main and most beautiful thing about the plane!
As far as I’m concerned while in VR it’s perfect.
Without a doubt it is perfect but it can be improved!
Looks like it’s been released in the Marketplace now
Well, first succesful flight today… YVR to ZMT. All went pretty well. I find it is tough to hold speed in cruise, lots of throttle adjustment needed. Also, with for throttles on the my bravo quadrant, it sure is hard to modulate all for in an even fashion.
I used a TOD calculator, but I ended up hitting my alt about 30 miles early. Will have to work on that. Then we went into an RNAV approach. The airplane flew the lateral path beautifully, but there was no vertical guidance. Approach was loaded in the FMC, I was in RNAV mode, LNAV was armed but no vertical guidance was selectable. Can the airplane do an RNAV appr? Cheers.
As someone posted/suggested way back up this thread, use TGT to target engine temp and it holds a steady cruise speed better.
I used a TGT engine target of 670C last night on cruise from EDDF to EGLL. Cruise speed held quite well. I also had engine SYNC on.
Good tip. It wasn’t too bad, but I did find I was adjusting often. Had SYNC on. What about the RNAV, can the airplane offer vertical guidance on an RNAV appr?
I dont do RNAV VNAV, so cant comment on it, but according to the manual. There is no VNAV on the 146.
“Vertical navigation (VNAV) Not available in this aircraft.” Pg.32
The HSI is capable of -
" A Navigation Mode annunciator indicates VOR, ILS or RNAV, in conjunction with an RNAV bearing pointer." Pg.115
And
" The glideslope pointer will display indications for both an ILS glideslope and RNAV/GPS pseudo-glideslope." Pg.115
But no mention of how a RNAV vertical path is possible with no VNAV.
I don’t know, maybe someone else with some RNAV experience can answer.
Re speed, it is hard to control with throttle along. I find without the TGT targeting I have to constantly adjust throttle to avoid incremental creeps in airspeed. Maybe there is a better way of doing this. I haven’t watched through all the tutorial videos out there.
Do you control the yoke with a joystick? Grabbing it with a VR controller doesn’t work, right? (Or does it and it’s just mine is broken?)
It’s unfortunate TGT on the TMS can’t be set below 600 because I was still (eventually) overspeeding with that setting at FL300, and it was even more of a problem at FL350. I guess it also varies a lot with wind conditions.
