Released: MD-80

First you need to let DB Cooper jump out of that plane with his parachute and all the ransom money…

The trans & aux hydraulic pumps needs to be turned ON to get the stairs stowed.

OK. I see what’s been happening. Fueling can’t be happening either when boarding begins or when you power up the aircraft. I did use SimBrief. When I click on Fuel Requested, it begins to fuel. I am gonna wait until it’s done fueling before powering up. On second take it started fueling but stopped. I think that’s cause I powered up the aircraft and began boarding. On third take now.

Any lights on by any chance? If I remember correctly they have to be off

Turn on your hydraulic pumps

Nice. This is what happens when you bang your head against the wall a few times - eventually you figure it out. I love that this thing doesn’t forgive stupid mistakes!

The stairs require the hydraulic aux pumps and ptu to be online. You find them behind the copilots yoke.

That’s honestly the best part. If you enjoy failures and being punished for them, try pushing the engines past their limit during takeoff, just make sure to choose a sufficiently long runway to do so.

This plane keeps surprising me, I learned something new today, glad you solved it!

I can tell it’s going to be one VERY rewarding journey with this bird. I can’t wait to get in the air for the first time.

Just loveeeee how that altimeter spins slower and slower after you pass FL180. She’s a true battle ship, yet she steers as sweet as a flying carpet.

If you’re flying with the honeycomb alpha, make sure to set the scale on max though and the thing above that to the whole range. Or she’ll feel like a flying carpet without a yoke attached to it. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Have fun with it Jeremy, I sure do too.

Does anyone know how that copilot figure can be removed from the cockpit?

edit: Ah with the load manager

I don’t have the Maddog yet but for DC Designs Concorde I just set my copilot’s weight to 0 in the fuel and weight setting from the top toolbar menu.

After ALL that work on my 3rd try I crashed it on takeoff. I did have AT armed and pressed the TOGA button but seemed to be accelerating too slow so I pushed the engines too hard and they gave out on me. Ah… gonna try again. What exactly is the sequence you guys use for takeoff? I have my flaps dialed to 2.5 per calculator. So that’s extended to 1st position afterwards, right? CG is 19.8 which is dialed in correctly on trimmer. Arm AT, press EPR selector to FLEX setting, then press the button on the throttle, right? I am a little confused. This is very challenging for me as I am used to Boeings and Airbus aircraft. Very cool though. I AM gonna get her in the air today.

Also… after importing SimBrief, my TOW is 57613, but the calc says 53 something is maximum allowed. What gives?

Isn’t take-off flaps standard 11 or 15 degrees in MD80?Where do you take that 2.5 value from?

I select TO and keep it below the limit. I can’t check right now but I think I takeoff with flaps 15.
AT doesn’t work on TO mode, after you takeoff you switch to CLIMB MODE and then the AT should kick in.

I understand you dialed 19.2 CG and 11 flaps in the pedestal to get the Long Trim value you subsequently set on the trim wheel. Then you set the 11 degree flaps.

I got her up in the air! Boy, it feels heavy!!! Such a cool feeling. It was challenging. I will probably do a video later today so that others can avoid my mistakes. Still in the middle of my first flight though. We will see how approach and landing works.

It took me a while to do it. Very rewarding, vnav doesn’t half fluctuate

I’ve been using the AT on takeoff. Make sure to have the TO or TO FLX chosen which should set your EPR limit. I arm the AT before lining up, and you should see the CLMP message to the right of the PFD. Then, once lined up, I feed in a little power and select the EPR LIM button to the left of the speed knob. That engages the AT and runs the engines to full TO power you set earlier.

Not sure if that is 100% by the book, but works everytime for me  Once in climb, select the climb power and it reduces automatically.
