i am just checking this addon and it seems all their memberships are full. How does their business model actually works? you want to support them and they dont want your money
Iāll have to try this out.
I donāt know how to get this. Iām not familiar with Patreon. Tried to sign up but it said the creator isnt accepting new signups at the moment.
Different business model than Iām used to.
Yes, because January is free for users, itāll be accesible again in February, or contact themby email.
Will this ever be on Xbox marketplace?
No, it will never be on the Marketplace or on XBox. It requires an external program to configure the aircraft and load passengers and fuel.
Darn. Hopefully a different one is made
Not entirely true with latest version. They have increased efb functionality to copy config options in there now. The only thing that is strange is livery installs which for the most part seem to need the external program to install.
All simbrief imports etc donāt need the external program to load, again all done via efb. I canāt remember the last time I opened the external program other than after installing an upgrade and license check. Itās certainly not a requirement.
But thereās this MDClient running in system tray and I guess itās needed for some features to work. From the manual:
Currently MDClient enables the following features (more will be added in the future):
⢠Realistic mode and Turnaround mode
⢠Automatic retrieval of latest SimBrief OFP in EFBās Electronic Flight Book and Weight and
Balance apps, or the INIT FLIGHT entry of the MCDU ACARS menu
⢠Selection of the EFBās OFP from a sorted list of all downloaded flight plans.
⢠Full ACARS capabilities from the cockpit MCDU including retrieval of ATIS and METAR
from a selected server (either VATSIM or IVAO).
⢠Fully functional CPDLC.
⢠Printing of ACARS/CPDLC messages either to a physical printer connected to the PC (best
choice is a POS-type printer) or to the Pushover app available for both IOS and Android
phones and tablets.
By the way, I finally got this aircraft last week and Iām totally hooked. Itās a brilliant aircraft and really fun to master and fly it. I had it back in the FSX days but totally forgot most of the stuff.
Fair doās yes, forgot about the MDClient & enhanced stuff (most of which I canāt find). But most of the basics are all done without ever visiting the loader. The livery installs are soemthign else though.
If you ever figure out the ACARS or CPDLC stuff Iād be interested to know more. I canāt figure out and there is no help guides as far as I can tell.
I love the Maddog. Itās a really nice experience other than the external app and slightly poorer textures by todayās standards. The cockpit instruments look fine though. A joy to fly and fairly easy to manage FMC wise after coming from Boeings.
Watch this tutorial, it should be there:
Iāve learned a lot from this guy. One of the best tutorial videos Iāve ever seen for any aircraft.
You donāt need to use their installer.
All that does is to allow an installed livery to be implemented by their damage/use system.
All normally installed liveries will show up in the sim.
Yes Iāve copied a few liveries into community folder directly and they do work. You are right the liader is more to tie a livery to precise model and equipment.
I think its overly complex system, but not required for most things.
They enabled all the equipment options into the EFB in last update which is nicer.
Thank you I will go have a watch.
Well, I shouldāve listened to you and bought this aircraft earlier. I still think itās a bit too expensive but itās so addictive that I canāt stop flying it now. It even beat the fantastic Flysimware Learjet 35A as my current favourite aircraft. And it will keep me entertained before Just Flight brings Avro RJ and F70/100. Anyway, I havenāt got the MD-83/88 expansion (yet). Do you have it and if yes, is it worth it in your opinion?
Yes Iāve got the expansion. It brings different higher powered engines and one or two extra fuel tanks and OHP switches for longer range use. The cockpits are otherwise almost identical. I think all the variants are the same dimensions too as liveries can be used between variants.
I think IRL the MD82 was more analog, and the MD88 is more glass cockpit but in Leonardo version all 3 variants basically have the same avionics and gauges.
I mainly fly the MD-88 now as it was this one I remember from years ago. If you arenāt interested in more powerful engines or longer range use then itās probably not worth it. The MD83 in the expansion also for some strange reason hits my performance harder so I rarely use it. The base MD82 and expansion MD88 are fine perf wise, so Iām not sure what is going on there.
One of my favourite parts is the mechanical flaps/trim setup. Very cool, unique and interesting. Also love to fly the AAL old metallic liveries. This is what I remember so well from flying (passenger) back in the 1990ās.
The soundpack could be better, as it misses the unique engine whine, but itās not a big deal with what is there.
I still canāt believe that it comes in a tiny download (by todayās standards) it was sub 500MB. Must be all those optimised textures.
This aircraft itās pretty cool to fly but I just cannot get use to the sounds, itās like flying with the engine with zero volume
There are some third party sound mods you can get which Iāve seen people recommend in the past, such as ftsim+ (not free though). In fairness, those engines are very far away at the opposite end of the aircraft, I wouldnāt expect to hear them much from the cockpit. Not that I have experience being in the cockpit so not sure that counts for much.
I use FTSim+ sounds and theyāre not bad.
I had a look into it but they are currently not accepting any new members, so there is no way to download those sounds toolsā¦
