Severe Problems on Xbox After Sim Update 9

Generally on previous versions that seemed to help. But on SU9 it’s pot luck whether it works on system resume or a complete reboot.

I’ve had a reboot where afterwards the screen locks and then stutters in the rest of the SIM.

I have the stuttering issue with both custom livery aircraft and default liveries. A320, B787, F/A-18, Cessna Caravan, Cessna 172, doesn’t matter. There’s just constant stutter while flying and on the ground, too. The whole game behaves as if it couldn’t stream in data fast enough. The menus stutter and freeze too as if they were waiting for something. The world map streams in the satellite images extremely slowly. I zoom in on an airport and it takes half a minute until the higher resolution imagery loads. It all can be server related of course. Either the servers are slow, or the game somehow can’t efficiently request/stream the required data. I’m no expert, it’s just my gut feeling. What’s sure is that these issues are independent from aircraft and their liveries.

Now, other issues, like the frozen avionics screens are surely not server related, that’s a whole different category, I feel. :man_shrugging: We can’t do much beside waiting.

I agree with most of what you say and yes, the Xbox situation is pretty dire. However, I don’t think after all the recent problems, that I am prepared to wait for a fix within weeks. A fix is needed immediately, even if it means rolling back to pre SU9. All of us on Xbox have had a pretty raw deal and yet we keep paying subscription for something unplayable on line and it seems like those taking our money just don’t care. My message to Microsoft and Asobo is simply, " You have taken hard earned money for this underwhelming sim, the least you can do is get it to work. Far from solving anything, SU9 has seriously wrecked it again" I have moderated my language but I have to express my anger.

I haven’t had any problems so far but I still wouldn’t mind rolling back to SU8. Besides the changes to the C172, I haven’t noticed anything.

The problem is, rollback is never an option really. There were many other bugs that SU9 fixed, not to mention new graphical features on the F/A-18, for example, which are needed to provide a good Top Gun expansion. And then there’s feature parity (cross-play) between Xbox and PC, add-on compatibility (the Concorde has just been updated for SU9, for example), etc. And if they made changes to how the data is handled between the servers and the clients, that can’t be rolled back either. This is something that could be done with a single-player game but not with an online-based title. There are just too many variables here. But again, I think the situation is bad and widespread enough that it’s become a top priority. I honestly would be surprised if we didn’t get some news about this next week. :crossed_fingers:

I wasn’t suggesting a permanent rollback, just time to investigate. Surely we shouldn’t be expected to settle for an unplayable sim for an indefinite period. I take on board what you say about Concord but it was SU 9 that broke it in the first place and third party developers have to pick up the pieces. Microsoft and Asobo need to act now.

Has anyone on Xbox managed to get stars when activating LOC on an ILS approach using the 787?

I can’t get it done, clearly I’m doing something wrong or is this broken as well?

It’s a bit off-topic, but I flew the 787 since SU9 and was able to shoot an ILS approach with zero issues.

Everything ILS-related functioned as it should in the approach to landing phase of the flight.

However, I have found the default airliner systems to be horribly inconsistent in their behavior. One flight with go without a hitch, others will be full of strange autopilot/navigation behaviors.

OK, so I’ve updated everything and went for a test flight in the stock A320 and it didn’t fail to disappoint. Pressed the constraints button and the navigation screen freezes up as well as the VFR map. The freezing up of the world map is horrid.

I really don’t know what to say at this point. Everyone says turn this off and remove that…no, I’m not doing it. Everything was fine before SU9. Others are saying I’m ungrateful because I’m complaining. I don’t think I am. I just want the sim to work as it should.

I’ve made the decision not to spend another dime on this sim until things get sorted. I don’t want to spend good money after bad. I’m certain others are feeling the same way and Marketplace sales will reflect it.

We need a hotfix and we need it now, please.

The best thing to do is contact head of Xbox, Phil Spencer. The sim needs significant change to all areas both on console and PC and the only way that will happen is if you email him or try and reach out to him on Twitter. He will investigate with Jorg what’s going on, if enough of you contact him.

From performance to accessibility across all devices, the sim has failed to live up to its promises. Spencer will apply the brakes to stop the casual gamer being left behind too.

I managed to get a smooth flight out of this current state on the series X. I flew the BN islander out of London Heathrow down to Jersey in the Channel Islands. This was with all the settings turned on. Feel like I was just lucky though as now I’m in the Dreamliner which is a stuttering mess inside cockpit view whilst panning camera around.

Good advice. If it was me, I’d be monitoring the forums and keeping my finger on the pulse of the users. I’d like to think they are…

A little 1 hour flight from Hiroshima to Tokyo in the ANS and all went well. Like you said, sometimes it’s more like a hit and miss I guess.

Only the ground performance when taxiing to the gate, oh boy that was not good. Maybe it’s because the Tokio surroundings or something…

But when parked and using the drone, it was all smooth again. I don’t get this type of behavior…

ILS landing? Usually it triggers automatically and I use LOC to capture the localiser when I’m aligned with the runway and then APP once the glide slope diamond is in line to capture the g/s

While we are at it, they say Bush Trips are fixed…mine still don’t load up the NAV data. SU NINE and still broken.

This cannot be true: the last Beta version of SU9 (number II) was definitively not the version that they published as final SU9! They must have made changes to it. I used SU 9 for at least 1 more day after the SU 9 came out officially and I was able to use the sim with the same level of functionality as I did during the Beta. Then I switched manually to the SU9 final level by leaving the Beta (something that MS/Asobo recommended to do prior to May 6 (?) or so). Not until then the mess startet for me. Long story short: I was able to run Beta II nicely on “Servers” that had the changed and final version of SU 9. This contradicts the statement that the SW level on both “Servers” and “Clients” need to be identical… and couldn’t be rolled back. Btw…this is something that I would assume to be the case on a Server-Client infrastructure anyway.

And another day when NOTHING works!

I use the ATC at a small airport, want to taxi to the runway… CRASH TO DESKTOP!

I turn off all (!) online settings, fly with a MSFS that looks like from 1990, move the camera in the outside view very carefully… CRASH TO DESKTOP!

I uninstall EVERYTHING, download the complete MSFS half the night again, install no third party add-ons, only the worldupdates that come from Asobo itself (!), set everything to a minimum again, still have to wait 5 minutes at startup until the MSFS has loaded, want to go to the globe, the mouse pointer is stuck again and stutters, I already fear bad things… CRASH TO DESKTOP!

It can not be that here a product within a few days by an OFFICIAL (!) Update, which has been certified by Asobo & MICROSOFT, has been virtually DESTROYED! I say it again: The MSFS is at this time for me, on the “top console” Series X UNPLAYABLE and therefore NOT TO USE. For this I have definitely paid no money and would have better continue to play the product FREE in Gamepass. Would have saved a lot of trouble and money!

And what annoys me once again especially:
Even after three days (!) there is still no official statement from the development team, in which they at least say that the problems are known and they are working on it. Instead, they seem to be going about their daily business. Very poor performance Asobo! Very poor performance by Microsoft!

Yes indeed! Want another good example for a mediocre SW development performance: just got an update (I’m on Xbox) for the Garmin NXi that hopefully fixes issues for those who use it. Very annoying and unprofessional: the version window does not list any changes! In fact it does not list any changes since it was originally delivered. This is an extremely bad habit and does not by any standard show good software development practice. Of cause this goes for most of the parties involved in fs2020 and infrastructure development: the latest example being MS/Asobo with shippung an SU9 that was changed from what we had in SU9 Beta II without any updates to the list of changes between SU9 Beta II and SU9 released.

Though I agree with this and it’s a problem, the G1000 NXi changelog at least can be found online, here: Working Title /NXI - v0.12.1

I noticed that most third-parties don’t offer a version history in the marketplace, which is a shame.
