Severe Problems on Xbox After Sim Update 9

Didn’t notice that yet but noticed dimming after some time of inactivity

Honestly, I never noticed this issue in any game. I have the Xbox Series X since day one.

At least with my LG C1 (and previously CX) all games stay absolutely the same when using Dolby Vision.

Also, never saw Vincent Teoh from HDTVTest or others like Markus from Gaming Tech, who only does HDR / Dolby Vision analysis, talk about this.

Maybe this is a HDR specific issue?

Could you please link any discussion thread about this?

For those who have the dimming screens after some time: Do you have an LG OLED? Because that is some burn in protection build in. For that reason i bought myself a service remote so i can manually disable that function in the service menu.

I have an LG OLED but no dimming problem other than the mentioned timeout after a longer inactivity which reduces the screen brightness.

Can someone suggest to me the best 55" TV for the Xbox console… I have a 43" but I want a bigger immersive viewing experience. :+1:

Comfortably below $1000, hisense u7g no contest cheap speed demon ~$600. Over $1000 without going big bucks C1 OLED. Dozens of qleds and other nonsense costs more than OLED.

The hisense can take anything series x can throw at it, but viewing angles other than front and center(for the non paying customers) is far from great, but for a personal monitor it’s the best budget performance tv. OLED is the hero in the 1100-1500 range before going to fancy versions in the high end world. Infinite viewing angle and blacks like nothing else.

I have a $2800 Sony A90 65" fancy pants oled in the living room but my xbox driving/flying setup in the basement i got the hisense to apease the mrs with a new s/x and a bunch of other toys at once and discovered my older Samsung wasnt up to snuff and couldn’t be happier with my cheapie mo betta. If it were a primary/household TV probably would stretch to the C1. Mine is on an artulated mount to match the driving rig height and i just roll that up to it or my flight/fps desk or just push it against the wall for kicking back with controller games or Raymond Legends with my kids.

I was out of town for two weeks and just flew a handful of favorite flughts in HI and St Marteen and AK and the game seems pretty fantastic, what the heck changed? I didn’t try adding back my problematic 3rd party stuff yet but was running like SU8 for me. Even 3 different aircraft/areas on one load up no issues. I didn’t do any heavy IFR just some basic hand flown AP but it all seemed excellent, including multiple landings at different 3rd party areas/airports. Including with the Kodak, beach 18 and goose.

After exiting Sim Update 10 Beta, Dolby Vision (and probably also HDR) is again absolutely stunning on my LG C1, without insanely dark nights and absolutely dim daylight.

By the way, before doing this, I found that disabling HDR in settings made everything brighter and better, but nights were still horrible. So this Beta is really broken regarding this.

The regular public version is absolutely OK and disabling HDR in settings will make colors washed and peak brightness reduced, different from when it is activated, where the sun, water and reflections in fuselage are absolutely stunning in Dolby Vision.

Talking about these HDR issues on Xbox, I again must say I never had any problem both on LG CX (65") and currently on LG C1 (77"). What do happen in Flight Simulator, mainly when we let cockpit camera enabled and static, is that the TV auto protection will really dim the picture, because everything is static, but it’s only necessary to move the camera or change it, so that the TV will immediately be bright again.

This is a feature not only in game mode, but in all HDMI ports and apps to prevent burn in.

Also, I don’t enable logo brightness protection because the TV also will dim a bit the whole image and not only where there are static objects displayed. Maybe this will also force everything to be dimmer after some time because the cockpit panel is huge, compared to other static things like in FIFA, Formula 1, Red Dead Redemption 2, Forza, etc.

I recommend trying to send feedback in this subforum about this issue. It could very well be something that Sim Update 10 is going to break.

Is there something wrong with Dolby Vision and/or HDR in the SU 10 Beta? I only just entered the beta yesterday and did one flight, i found it a little overly bright?

Do you have the ENTC addon airport? I always get the black aviation screens when switching from inside to outside of the cockpit. A lot of CTD’s also. Same with the free Paderborn airport addon.

Quick question. I joined the test build a few weeks back to help log data.

I’ve looked for the SU10 beta and it says I’m already joined. I didn’t knowingly do this. (not that I mind)

Do I need to do anything else or is that it, I’m in the beta?

Edit - I see there are a load of world updates. Though it’s getting stuck and restarting

You are quite right - you were automatically signed up - the 7th July development blog has the announcement that all Xbox users who were in the stability test beta would be automatically subscribed to the SU 10 beta

If you had joined the test build it said you would automatically get the SU 10 beta but this doesn’t mean that you have it already installed. You should have seen a few updates happening when starting MSFS like SU10 Beta update itself plus quite a large update to World Updates too. When I joined I had to quit MSFS and restart my XBOX before I could see the downloads starting. Just in case you might not have done that…

Hello @xbeerbellyx,

We announced in last week’s Development Blog post that anyone participating in the Xbox Stability Test would automatically be transitioned to the SU10 beta.

In addition, we plan to end the Xbox Stability Test as soon as Sim Update 10 Beta is live. All Xbox users who are currently in the Xbox Stability Test will be automatically transitioned to the Sim Update 10 Beta build within a few hours of the Sim Update 10 Beta going live. More details and directions on how to leave the build if you do not wish to participate will be outlined in the information provided via the forums tomorrow. Thank you again to those who joined this testing experience. The team is evaluating the data in order to provide solutions in a timely manner. We found this test to be very successful, and we are looking to run similar stability initiatives in the future as we work to improve the overall sim.

Thanks,
MSFS Team

Hey im having huge issues even completing a flight on the cloud. All goes great and after i pass a certain area it crashes. Gutted as ive just bought concorde to learn. Jfk is broken as is dallas and others. Nightmare to be honest. Thinking of cancelling my subscription

Had a great flight from Trondheim to Stuttgart in the LVFR A321, close to 4 hours, beutiful sunset and stunning views during approach, display went blank, did a decent manual (“blind”) landing, saved the passengers and then CTD on the taxiway about a 1/2 mile from the gate..

Are you in the beta?

I was hoping they would have fixed the blank display that can lead to a CTD.

Yes I am. No difference compared to the SU9 level … at least regarding CTDs and blank screens.
