Sim Skunk Works Leonardo (SIAI Marchetti) SF-260 AM

Thank you for your kind words.

Great job, Richard!

your F-104 skins are sooo good. Do you take any comissions?

Hello
Ssw should integrate them into their next update if the author agrees of course.

Thank you JK. I appreciate.

In fact I am a selfish person, I work for myself, I create liveries that I like for the planes that I have in my hangar.
Then I make them available to the community for free.

Yes, I sometimes make liveries to order, I do it with pleasure and for free but they must meet my criteria above
You must provide me with sufficient documentation. A single photo of someone posing in front of a plane during their first solo is of no use to me!
I need as much information as possible, left view, right view, wings and if possible details of the registration, badges,

I always try to stick as close as possible to reality.

A repaint takes me a lot of time. I’m not as fast as my friend Jan Kees. Creating a texture can take a month.
That’s why if I don’t like the subject or if I don’t own the plane, I won’t accept the request.
I consider it a waste of time compared to the other projects I have in progress.

Thank you for your comprehension.

Richard

Interesting idea but personally I don’t see the point of having lots of additional liveries on one model. There are sites like Flightsim.to that offer a lot of them and the advantage is that I can decide what I keep or don’t keep to make room in my ssd, unlike a forced addition on an add-on where I can’t delete content that I won’t use. Incidentally, I’m really annoyed about the sf.260 smoke system: isn’t it possible to have a simple button on the dashboard to activate and deactivate it? I never use it and it bothers me to see it activated because I’m using this or that light.

Since the basic idea is to offer several easily activated color combinations, this would require at least four buttons or a rocker switch.
What’s more, in flight, handling a switch with the mouse is more difficult than simply pressing a button.
Not to mention that you lose the ability to activate it from an external view.
So no, a simple button on the panel won’t do the job.

Now, to please you, I propose to send you a file with only the white smoke activated by “Toggle Wing Lights”.
Which shouldn’t bother you, since there are no Wing Lights on the SF260 !
It’s a simple file replacement, so it’s very easy to do.

As this kind of file is not allowed as an attachment on the forum, send me a message with your email so I can send it to you.

Voilà voilà

Adding liveries is of benefit to Xbox users who don’t have access to flightsim.to.

@PlumbGlue67 Thank you for your diligence in finding a workaround, it’s appreciated.

In the future I still hope that an official update making the use of smoke less annoying will be proposed in this pay addon.
One last request: Could you simply put it on flightsim.to? Your solution will benefit the community and not just me. Many thanks in advance!

@wombleway I don’t see any problem in adding community liveries on consoles given your restriction. On the other hand, on PC, community content, I think, should remain an optional choice.

As I’m the conceptor of the SF260’s smoke effects, let’s say it’s a semi-official update.
Since the introduction of the multiple smoke effects, there’s been a lot of positive feedback.
And you’re only the second to find it annoying.
I made an identical proposal to the first one, who didn’t even reply me (should not bother him that much
).
So it doesn’t need to be published on fs.to.
I’ve explained above why it’s neither simple nor relevant to change the activaton system.
Imagine someone recording an acrobatics video and wanting to activate/deactivate the smoke at specific times.
With your system, he has to return to cockpit view, find the switch, hold the mouse cursor over it, activate/deactivate it and return to external view. All of this while flying aerobatics.
With back and forth from cockpit view to external view on the video if there’s no crash!
Not doable at all !
Do the test i.e. with the nav lights switch, you’ll see by yourself.
And check out Baracus250’s videos earlier in this thread.

If you want this file, send me an email adress where I can send it to you by return.

Voilà voilà

@ PlumbGlue67

Hello and thank you for your reply.

Let’s just say that I’m one of the brave two (on this section of the forum only) who dare to come and tell the community about a problem and not just, “only” two people out of a large majority who are satisfied ( on this section forum only)

I won’t be needing your file and if it can be of interest to the other person in question, I’ve solved the problem with a solution that suits me perfectly. I’ve removed the visualeffectLibs folder and updated the layout with the LayoutGenerator. As I don’t use the smoke, I’m no longer disturbed in my flying experience with this incredible aircraft.

I’d still like to thank you once again for your zeal in helping me personally with my problem, it’s much appreciated. Kind regards

If you are referring to me, smoking doesn’t interest me in the slightest, in fact it bothers me, so much so that I modified the file so as not to have any type of smoke.
I think it’s too impractical as it stands now.
I would only understand white smoke, but why all this smoke?
However, I don’t argue with this choice, but I don’t want to have to keep buttons busy just for the SF260’s smokes or have to create a new profile for the peripherals.

Just curious is there an update planned for this? The fuel selector issues still persist, as well as the issue where you can’t drop your RPM below 2500 at higher power settings.

Hello,
We have in our plans an upgrade of the SF-260 that will include the EA version of the aircraft with different and more modern equipment, the upgrade will be free for users who already have the AM version, we still do not have a timeline for this.
As for the propeller governor we know the problem: difficulty to reduce RPM below 2500 using only the pitch.
It is out of our control because it depends on sim pid logic.
The problem occurs only above a certain speed.
To better understand the issue simply turn off the engine in flight and you will see the propeller continue to turn, at 150 kias dead engine propeller turns at 1500 RPM, any attempt to modify propeller pitch PID was unsuccessfull.
On previous version was bizarre that happened even on the ground with the engine off and strong headwind.
As for fuel selector we have corrected this on the recent release, our tests show it work nicely.

Thanks for the reply, regarding the prop, how is it that other prop aircraft in the sim can fly faster and still drop their RPM if it’s a sim limitation? Also regarding the selector, I have to disagree. When the selector is on wing, the tip tanks drain. That’s a fuel feed ordering problem and it goes against what the POH states, so with all due respect, it is not correctly functioning.

Hello,
is a problem of engine power, the 260 HP of the engine at maximum MAP are able to maintain fairly constant revolutions of the propeller even if the required power increases with increasing pitch. This is not the case for other less powerful engines.
Reducing the MAP also decreases RPM, it is normal behavior, however honestly the governor PID has some issue out of our control.
As for the fuel selector i will look it again, but I seem to remember that I had already done the test and it seemed correct.
cheers

Would anyone who creates liveries for the SF260 be able to create two liveries for the Air Force of Zimbabwe SF260’s?
