Yeah, even with button hold trim I thought the trim wasn’t working, but it just needs a looooong time to adjust.
It’s excellent with the hair-trigger trim wheel on my VelocityOne yoke hahaha
This is one of the qualities that I love most about it! PC-12s are surprisingly large aircraft. I think the proportions and single engine are misleading in photos because in person, they are big!
Hey folks, any idea about release date of PC-12 NG (MSFS2020)?
In fact, PC-12 is in size much more comparable to a Lear 35 than to the Piper M500.
-
PC-12:
Wing Span: 53 ft 3 in
Length: 47 ft 3 in -
Lear 35:
Wing Span: 39 ft 6 in
Length: 48 ft 7 in -
Piper M500:
Wing Span: 43 ft
Length: 29.7 ft
It more or less splits the difference on MTOW, although a little more on the M500 side. ~5k for the M500, ~10k for the PC12, ~18k for the Lear.
I dunno, I’m the one that brought up the comparison and certainly part of it is because of the functionally similar panels and systems. I was expecting the PC12 to feel like a big FSR500, but it ended up feeling closer to a smaller, slower Lear with better takeoff/landing performance to me. Beyond the systems, it just has that feeling of heft and that you’re in a commercial cockpit, where the FSR500 feels like a really, really good high performance GA plane. And I suppose that’s an accurate comparison in sim and IRL. Certainly the use cases are more similar, I don’t know the stats but as far as I know PC12s are usually used in more ‘professional’ capacities - executive transport similar to small jets, medevac, specialty cargo while M500s I would think are still typically owner-flown for whatever practical purpose but at the end of the day really for fun, and sometimes very light executive transport or air taxi.
Thats quite a good comparison. The M500 is more like a slower TBM, while the PC-12 is a much heavier aircraft. If they were cars you’d be comparing a good car vs a racecar vs an SUV.
The TBM started off of a Piper-SOCATA collaboration so it has similar DNA to the M500 but is higher speed.
Did you mean Mooney? The TBM series are an enlarged development of the prototype Mooney 301 of the early 1980’s. It was intended to be built by both Socata in France & Mooney in the USA. Mooney backed out due to financial difficulties.
I remembered Piper, probably by mistake.
Love your PC12 BTW!
I can’t find anything on the SWS homepage either … has the NG-project been canceled?
I have no insight whatsoever, but I would guess SWS have dumped the NG in favour of the PC 12 Pro revealed recently by Pilatus. This would make perfect sense as the NGX is a default aircraft now in MSFS2024, so a very similar aircraft probably isn’t too viable commercially. Again, this is pure speculation. But I hope I’m right ![]()
Is the pro that much different from the NGX?
Yes, it has the Garmin G3000 Prime avionics suite. NG/NGX have the Honeywell Primus Apex suite. PC-12 PRO | Pilatus Aircraft
I’m happy with either option, as long as it’s a modern glass cockpit
Don’t get me wrong, I love the SWS PC-12, but I would personally prefer a more modern version.
Happy landings!
It’s in progress, we are doing LODs for it. The NG will be for 2024 only.
Just to understand you correctly: you are only working on the NGX for MSFS2024? There will be no further PC-12 for MSFS2020, neither NGX nor PRO?
THX!
We are doing the NG, not NGX and it will be for 2024. The 12 PRO I love but there isn’t enough info on the G3000 Prime to do a proper set of avionics.
Ok, now I got it.
As long as the MSFS2024 is not yet a flight simulator, but a completely buggy game in the pre-alpha, I unfortunately cannot enjoy the NG. Too bad.
Nevertheless, the PC-12/47 is a great joy to fly!
I adore my cargo PC12 in the for me, bug free worlds best flight simulator that is MSFS2024. Works beautifully. Much better than in the old sim. I feel like I’ve rediscovered it.
