Solution for Stutters & Pauses (updated for SU5)

Monitor is G-Sync, and i have v-sync disabled when using it

having never had g-sinc I can’t say too much more other than try a different refresh rate

The monitor is true G-sync (not just G-sync compatible → Acer Predator XB271HU). When using i disable v-sync (i got stuttering even if i enable it). On TV, I enable V-sync because of screen tearing, so it stays at 60fps with drops at 51fps sometimes in big cities but it’s still very smooth.

what I found is, that it has 30-165 range. If you come not lower than these 30 all should be fine.

and if you have enabled g-sync , you have to enable v-sync too. Disable v-sync in case of g-sync was the old spec, but is changed in meanwhile. I noticed that too a while ago ( https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/60-fps-but-stutters-on-an-4k-60-hz-monitor-with-an-rtx2080-ti/326841/70?u=michamma )

Something new: Audio Stutter.

My Audio “crackles” and “drops out” during flight when it seems to reload bigger pieces of scenery.

Before, no matter how long the stutter was, audio seemed unaffected by it.

The Audio dropouts really annoy me.. anything that can be done about it?

Greetings,

Paul

I think installing Windows 11 cured that for me although I believe theres an optional W10 update that fixes this. Also if you have Afterburner running make sure you have the very latest Riva update.

The other possibility is that you have hyperthreading turned off, since the JUL27 update it shouldn’t be.

i am using an external soundcard (music hobby) but i am updating that driver instead of Riva then.

it’s worth trying.

Windows update-wise i should be on the latest update status

thanks for quick reply,

paul

I think it’s an optional Windows update so maybe not automatic

There should be no tearing if you have both a G-sync monitor and G-sync enabled in your NVIDIA GPU. G-sync dynamically changes the monitor’s refresh rate to the FPS. V-sync sort of does the same thing for non-Gsync monitors.

i dont have screen tearing, my problem is stutterring on pc g-sync monitor plugged with displayport and NO stutterring on my TV plugged with HDMI. It is totally smooth when i play on TV.

You do realise that the xbox crew will be reading this and laughing at us?

After a couple of hours of Flight I have the same issue too…

Anything that gets progressively worse for no reason is more than likely a memory leak but I’m not really sure that is the case here.

  1. Fly aircraft without an EFIS cockpit. SUCCESS This one also works with stutters virtually eliminated, and not just because these aircraft fly slower.

So essentially the web browser component is causing drama. I wonder how much work it’d be for Asobo to run/render the glass cockpit stuff on a separate process and use shared memory to communicate data and textures between the browser and game processes.

Because the game’s sure not bothered by multiple external browsers running the same time, of which one is at least running video (Twitch stream or some Youtube video).

I mean, in that Digital Foundry interview it was pretty much alluded to that situation regarding the browser stuff in-game is “complicated”.

–edit:
For that matter, I don’t even see how the garbage collection in the HTML+JavaScript runtime ought to block the main game loop. It seems more like the game stutters because the HTML stuff stops rendering during collection, and the main renderer opts to wait it out instead of repeating glass cockpit frames.

After a couple hours of play, it is!

After SU5 I have stutters about one hour each time during a filght, GPU begins to going down and FPS to. When I turn off ONLINE TRAFFIC everything is back to normal. I’ve never been like this before

A bug report to zendesk would be sensible.

I did, months ago

Hello,

Sometimes, i get a longs pauses “spikes” on starting a fly, the GPU up and down for 2/3 minutes and all becomes normal again:

Do you know why ? it is not systematic

I have the same problem. In my case my frames drop to 1 and then jumps between 1 and 10. It then goes back to 60. Strange thing happens then. Avionics resets itself and AP is disconnected. In crj the speedbrake is activated.
