Solution for Stutters & Pauses (updated for SU5)

Has the CRJ been patched yet?

Asking for a friend

where is that in Process Lasso?

Process Lasso is freeware/payware program. I have only ever used the freeware version. https://bitsum.com/

yes I downloaded it.
I just cant find ‘‘Windows dynamic thread priority boost’’

You need to start MSFS before you use process lasso, as the Flightsimulator.exe only shows up when it is running. This post has the step by step process I used towards the bottom of the post. Solution for Stutters & Pauses (updated for SU5) - #985 by BilingualHarp7

But a better fix for me was to install the Windows gaming fix update as that negated the need for process lasso. Solution for Stutters & Pauses (updated for SU5) - #1080 by BilingualHarp7

Since the SU5 update stutters seem to be history and Lasso can’t to do a thing for dropped frames except perhaps cause more of them.

SU5 did not cure the stutters for me, it introduced them. Process Lasso was the temporary work around, until KB5004296 provided the permanent cure.

May I ask how you did this. My Windows Update shows everything up to date, but KB5004296 does not appear in the history. Nor does it appear in the “optional” page. I’m running Win10Pro 21H1 (OS Build 19043.1165).

Thanks.

EDIT - Ah, I see it was the previous OS update (.1151). Presumably then, it is incorporated in the .1165 update, but that has not solved my VR stutter problem.

As far as I know it is not included in any existing update yet. In order for me even see KB5004296 I had to install optional “Feature update to Windows 10, version 21H1”. After that was installed KB5004296 appeared in the optional updates.

That update should be available for the following versions of Windows 10.

In any event, that update has been superceded by a newer CU, KB5003033:

That update is a day shy of being 2 weeks old!!

As I mentioned elsewhere, either let NVCP or MSFS handle vsinc … don’t mix them

I seriously doubt that ANY update to windows 10 makes a difference in MSFS,
or Nvidia settings or other tweaks external to MSFS for that matter.
The real huge boost to the FPS / performance for me was the recent update 5, in spite
of the CTD’s, obviously measured before and after said update with the very same versions of windows 10, drivers etc . They have greatly changed the graphics engine, something that was due a very long time ago. See also my thread about this matter…

thread-link if you wouldn’t mind

I have given up on trying to fix the stutters in VR where they are more than noticeable. I flew in 2D yesterday, noticed how little you notice/see of your surroundings (only seeing a narrow corridor ahead - like wearing blinkers for a horse), therefore got lost on approach to the Airport. That confirms to me that Flying in VR is really the only way to go. I have Regular stutters one after the other, maybe 1 secound apart. I can spend hours trying out all types of things listed here with no sucess getting rid of them. I´m just going to go outside enjoy the weather and hope that there will be a fix in world update 6. It all used to work relatively fine on my old graphics card till SU5, so a fix has to be possible (trying to get a new RX 6800XT card at MSRP from AMD though)…

Don’t mind at all, here you have it:

In other words, if I have 3033 then I don’t need to worry about 4296? I have 3033 installed but I don’t see 4296 as being available.

since SU5, i also experience periodic stutter. every 40 seconds sim freeze for half sec.
no addons on community folder. the stutter is clearly visible on GPU graph.
does not seem to depend on Aircraft or location.

I am also getting stutters it drops from a steady 40fps to 1 etc for maybe 10sec, quite often it’s at same time as ATC message or when I switch view

I just tried this Process Lasso. I can also say this has dramatically improved the experience. It’s no longer a stutter-fest! Especially in exterior views, it’s silky smooth. I think the stutters following SU5 will have just been an oversight. In the past these stutter issues have been resolved, so I’d expect it will be fixed this time around aswell.

Still though, thanks for this post. Process Lasso has fixed it for the timebeing at least! I disabled the GUI from starting with windows but still allowed the Core/Service to start with windows, and this works perfectly fine.
