Interestingly, I’ve never the tried deleting the ‘streamed packages’ folder as directed here: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/17268168854044-Loading-issues
I’ll give that a whirl tonight!

Thanks for that !! i will try also..
Promising. 1st load after deleting that folder was a success…
ok, so clearing that folder seems to work, but I have to do it before every load.
If loading crashes, opening the app in safe mode seems to always work. What does safe mode disable? It mentions mods/community files, but as far as I’m aware, I’ve not got any. Could it be a hangover from my MS2020 install (not that I’ve used third party add-ons for that either)?
From release notes:
"* Added a popup to propose launching the sim in Safe Mode in case the title crashed during the previous launch
My goodness, this is frustrating… ![]()
Unfortunately I am also affected by this problem, the strange thing is that for a couple of weeks everything was working fine, yesterday I changed the VGA drivers with the most recent ones since then the sim no longer starts stuck at 68%, there is no need to go back to the old drivers it still doesn’t work.
Deleted the suggested files, disconnected the internet, reinstalled the sim 2 times but nothing has any effect always stuck at 68%, the fact that it always stops at the same point indicates that something is loading that blocks all loading.
It is shameful that you can’t fly because the “game” doesn’t even start, it would be a good thing to ask for a refund and wait for better times since apparently despite the numerous complaints nothing seems to happen.
I am very disappointed with the sim, luckily I still have MSFS2020 installed I will console myself with that until they put a real patch on it.
Disappointed user.
I would be careful about activating anything from MSFS 2020 in game, in the My Library folder until the MarketPlace is officially opened. I found that much of the MSFS 2020 content is disabled for a reason and enabling some of them can have a negative impact.
If you take all of the folders from the Streamed Packages folder, then copy all the contents to the Official2024 folder this might help.
Official2024 is in the default location of the community folder. LocalCache/Packages/Official2024
Just leave the MSFS2020 untouched.
I had a look at the latest development update: January 16th, 2025 Development Update - Microsoft Flight Simulator
I just can’t believe that this problem is not being taken care of.
I’m very disappointed with Asobo.
What a pity…
And I noticed that this thread is in the “User support” flow, not in the Bugs one… Support folks, are you reading these messages?
I just filed another request on Zendesk. Let’s see…
– update: it’s been closed as “solved”…
I have the same issue, like hundreds (thousands?) of others. I have tried all the “fixes”. No joy. There are pages of complaints about this on the internet.
Well I finally got the game to start. I was always stuck at 68% but now it goes
all the way. Takes about 10 mins to start though. I had uninstalled the game for
a couple of weeks and played msfs2020 instead but then I decided to give 2024
another go, so I installed it again. Tried to start it but again got stuck at
68%. I went looking for things to try and came across the GAMING SERVICES REPAIR
TOOL. I ran that and ever since then I can manage to start the game. The repair
tool can be found here for PC: 1.Launch the xbox app for pc 2.Click your
Profile picture 3.Click on Support 4.Click on Gaming Services Repair Tool
5.Click on Start Repairing. I hope this is of help to others. I had previously
clocked up 42 hours of trying to get passed 68%. I now have other problems
(crashes and No Internet Errors), but at least I can start the game. What a mess
this game is in.
Tried that time ago, won’t always pass the 68% checkmark…
Hey, I disconnect internet (Lan or wifi) then run the game, after it’s open wait until a grey pop up page will say no internet connection, the plug the internet (or turn it on). Wait It will load and it will open the game hopefully.
Update
Disconnecting Lan or wifi has never worked, as well as reinstalling or repairing the sim files, I have never tried with game services but I will try next time I get stuck at 68%, yes because now it seems to go without having done anything after 3 days of attempts and reinstallations in the end it loads the “game”…it takes about 10 minutes but it works.
This is exactly what I found out to be the most effective.
I might try again this week. Currently, I’ve given up and returned to MSFS2020, which runs 50fps on medium settings (1080p) on my old system!
have they linked to how it’s solved?
Same to me, what a wasted time, stuck at 68 and after two or three times It works, Up to Next time to charge that stucks again, Iv tried everything some explane around but nothing, Hope some good game ingeneer take notice of this and solve It ASAP, meanwhile I keep flighting in XP.
I’ve also attempted to log a bug report…do feel free to chip in!
