The VR forum needs specific hardware sub-categories per headset ecosystem

TL;DR: It would make it much easier and less cluttered with clearly differentiated per-headset hardware/ecosystem topics.

You might want to consider this:

  • Hardware and Performance:
Discussions about smoothness, settings and frame rates with your hardware while using VR.

  • Ocullus Headsets:
Discussions about smoothness, settings and frame rates specific to using Oculus Headsets.

  • SteamVR Headsets:
Discussions about smoothness, settings and frame rates specific to using headsets with SteamVR.

  • WMR Headsets:
Discussions about smoothness, settings and frame rates specific to using headset with WMR.

These wouldn’t be sub sub forums (you can’t do this in your system), instead, they would be at the same level as the other VR forums.

In essence, the forums you’ve created already are mostly about the FS2020 point of view of VR (mouse interactions, using menus, cameras). The Hardware and Performance though is a “catch it all” type with things which should be related mostly to FS2020 performance in VR with various headsets. However it is a mess because there are discussions about FS2020 performance, discussion about headset config, discussions about configuring Windows tools for helping performance in FS2020 etc… And people don’t find easily what discussion is pertaining to their headset either.

The idea is for people having a “Hardware and Performance” question going directly to the forum where there is most likely already an answer, prior posting another similar question. In addition, it is to keep things specific to each hardware really separated at first glance. Last but not least it would give clear separated forums for things which are relevant to FS2020 VR perf bugs in general on one hand (the existing hardware and perf forum), and clear forums specific to each major headset ecosystem on the other hand (specific SteamVR questions about what best driver, config etc…, same for WMR headsets etc…)

Here are some examples with existing discussions:

Good thinking and a great idea!

It would save a lot of time sifting through questions, replies and comments which are not relevant to our hardware and HMD. It definitely gets my vote.

Is this the layout you are suggesting?

Yes exactly this, given you can’t create sub-forums.

I believe it is important to also use a proper description because there are issues pertaining to using a headset but relevant to FS2020 in VR, and there are issues pertaining to using a headset but relevant to the VR ecosystem only (Occulus, SteamVR, WMR), and a proper description will help people finding the right forum to use (well not always we know this but every help counts)!

I was suggesting for example the following, but I’ll let you find better wordings:

  • Discussions about smoothness, settings and frame rates with your hardware while using VR.

vs

  • Discussions about smoothness, settings and frame rates specific to using headsets with SteamVR.

PS: the description is not dissimilar an idea than this:
