To Beaver or not to Beaver... that is the question

Newest version of G36 fixes this.

i confirm, water rudder are useless. (and wake effect doesn’t look nice). Behavior on high wake (strong wind) is as ridiculous as before. My god, having this 1 year after the release. What a shame.

The water rudders are set to 60 (degrees of movement) in the [CONTACT_POINTS], if you change 60 to 90 you’ll get them working again.

Even at 60, they should work. their physical model has a problem. The good process is to change the model, not the aircraft configuration (like for physic in flight where they sometimes tweak aircraft to compensate bad behavior of the model).
They should employe people with skill in these kind of problematic. They are really amazing for game and visual aspect, but for the sim aspect, IMHO, they have lacks, sorry to say.

I landed the XCub in the North Portland (Oregon USA) Harbor and taxied through to a spot that would be wide enough to turn a float plane around in RL. I was only able to get about 110 degrees around and crashed into a stall (that would be a boat parking spot). Makes me feel like I’m the helmsman on a battleship. Water effects are there now, although I think they were better in FS98.

The plane also has what can only be described as a programmed in bounce which has nothing to do with visible waves.

Still fun to land and take off from water :grinning:

So far the Aeroplane Heaven Cessna 140 is the only floatplane I have tried (granted that are not very many, default or add-on) that is steerable in any practical way on the water. Not sure what AH is doing right that everyone else is doing wrong. It’s kind of ironic because post SU5 the 140’s water rudders don’t animate (minor thing I’m sure will be patched).

Anything new here? How is the progress going? Waiting patiently for this one. One of my three most anticipated airplanes next to TwinOtter and PC-6.

We’re working on it.

You should do what just flight does and offer different avionics configs for your Beaver:

Landing Strip: double stack GPS with approach mode AP

Extra 70s Bush: double VOR stack, DME, ADF

Yes, that is the plan.

If you read up in the thread, that’s been their plan all along. What he said was he’s not going to do 50 different versions. They are choosing to limit it to a few configurations that are more manageable.

Refreshing the thread  . Any news about the DHC2? I imagine the C310R is coming out next from Milviz.

I would imagine they’re waiting on some SDK improvements and the water handling to be fixed since it’s a mess right now.

that just never gets old…err or does it

We actually took a very VERY close look at the model/textures and decided she, along with the otter, needed a redux. So they’re in the shop getting fixed up.

Code is ongoing so work hasn’t stopped.

Our intention is to do a Beaver, TBeaver, Otter and Totter… (yes… I know they are not proper names but I use them anyway)… they might not all come out at the same time or even be “free” additions… we are considering.

it could take years (being optimistic)

No need to be negative in your optimism…

It will absolutely be in the new year but… deffo way before spring.

I call shenanigans on this thread, as it is premised on a question that isn’t a question. The answer is ALWAYS “to Beaver”. End of story!
