I just discovered this now. PMDG 737 saves the panel state “fantastic” but useless because when I load the saved flight, the toolbar is missing. Even the functions (ATC) which are mapped to a keystroke, don’t work.
When reloading any flight with any plane, the toolbar is missing so i can’t open an atc window or any of the toolbar functions. This bug is mentioned in the bugs area and has been around since 2020 !! The new PMDG 737 saves your panel state when you save a flight, buts it’s useless if the sim can’t give you the toolbar to interact with the loaded flight.
The missing toolbar is just one weak point of the weared “load a saved flight” function! So its not a tool bar problem, its a “load a saved flight problem”. Better to move it there. And yes, we are waiting since launch of MSFS that they pick up this defective function. I do not know why they just do ignore it in their improvement list. May be it is spread into many different posted flags so it never got enough voices.
- ATC not working (sometimes later during the flight suddenly)
- Weather unable to change - and so time unable to change
- Toolbar sometimes missing, sometimes not. If missing it pops in after take off
- All systems on and engines running despite the saved conditions where all systems off
There is an assumption that the function “save a flight” and “load a saved flight” are somehow connected to the bush flying trips which have more or less and sometimes similar problems (no correct saving possible, missing end of trip although correct landing…)
Could we/somehow bring all these over 2 years already posted issues into one major post/headline and sum up all the many different votes? That should bring it then on their improvement list …
I hope a forum mod could merge this topic with its votes with this “bug-logged” topic:
But I don’t know how / who to ask …
After reloading a saved flight …
- ATC not working (sometimes later during the flight suddenly)
- Weather unable to change - and so time unable to change
- Toolbar mostly missing, sometimes not. If missing it sometimes pops in after take off
- All systems on and engines running despite the saved conditions where all systems off
PMDG 737 have found a way to integrate Panel State with a save. This highlights the issues with the Sim’s flight reload function.
Toolbar still not appearing after loading flight. Game broken and unplayable.
Xbox Series X
Version: 1.25.12.0
I am on SU9, and this problem is STILL happening!
No toolbar after loading a saved flight ie after doing a LOAD of a .FLT file.
Has Microsoft or Asobo acknowledged they are aware of this debilitating bug, and are they working on finally fixing it?
I don’t think it has been acknowledged.
The other post I linked to in my previous post has the “bug-logged” label to it. But I don’t know what that actually means. I think that means the “community manager” has passed it on to the product team.
It’s unfortunate because it’s not exactly a subtle bug.
Thank you, @Monkfishman3086
I have submitted a Bug Report and received the standard “[Microsoft Flight Simulator - Bug report received]” email message from MSFS support@flightsimulator.zendesk.com Fri, May 27, 2022 at 3:18 PM. They said “Thank you for submitting a bug report. Our team will review the information and try to reproduce the issue thanks to the information you provided.”
Let’s hope they receive enough similar bug reports about this same problem, that will stimulate them to realize that NO, it’s NOT OK that resuming a saved flight will not allow you access to the in-game white Toolbar.
For example, by not having that toolbar:
- You can’t set the simulated time-of-day or change the weather, etc.
- You can’t simply pull down the Flight Assistance to turn on the taxi ribbon to verify the taxi path, and/or to turn it off to increase the immersive experience.
- You can’t use the Travel To functionality to jump to a particular waypoint or phase along the flight path.
- etc.
So in its present state of preventing access to the in-game Toolbar, saving and resuming from a saved flight (.FLT file) is pretty much like a three-legged horse: perhaps it can hobble along and do something, but it’s nowhere near as useful as it could be if that important part were not missing!
I have this issue on Series X, but I also notice that recently, no matter what .flt save file I load, the plane is back at the beginning of the flight with no toolbar. I saved the flights under separate names at different stages of the flight, but regardless of which save I load, the flight is at the beginning!
Bizarre…
I can’t believe this is still an issue, we’ve had major updates since this was first reported
Yes, I can’t believe more users don’t complain about this. Do saved flt files restore the Toolbar on PC? Is this just an Xbox thing?
It’s definitely not an Xbox thing. I’ve been complaining about this bug since release, so almost 2 years now. That’s just one of a few ways saving is broken, and Asobo hasn’t even acknowledged it yet.
Toolbar still not appearing after loading a flight on Microsoft Store/Xbox app edition, 1.25.9.0
Almost a year later, the issue still exists.
Same here
Seems like they don’t care about console. ;(
The issue with the missing Toolbar also occurs on (my) PC.
I’ve done my best to isolate two cases on (my) PC in another topic on this issue. One for the missing weather icon and one for the Toolbar being completely missing.
Indeed, editing the FLT file can bring the weather icon back. I’ve been using it consistently.
My experience is that it makes a difference if you start cold and dark on a parking spot or on the runway. But on xbox it seems to make no difference. I think the missing Toolbar problem is actually in the binary SPB file that is saved together with your FLT file. When the Toolbar is missing the file seems much smaller than when everything is working.
The missing Weather icon seems to be about incorrect parameters in the Weather section of the FLT file.
Speaking of the SPB file, it appears that the program is using the SPB file data so that if you load the saved .FLT file, the Cloud icon will not appear on the Toolbar.
The .FLT file and the .SPB file have the same filename.
Renaming the .FLT file to a new name resolves this.
Can’t do this on XBox, so we are stuck with the issue.
@Hester40MT, my apology:
My previous Reply was incorrect because I always save the flight before clicking “FLY”.
On my PC, saving a flight while in flight, after clicking “FLY”, on the World Map, will cause the Toolbar to not appear when you load the flight later.
PC/MS Store
World Map
- Select KJFK to KEWR IFR/ILS and click FLY.
Toolbar appears with “Cloud” icon
Save flight as test.FLT
Load test.FLT
Toolbar is not there.
World Map
2. Select KJFK to KEWR IFR/ILS and don’t click FLY.
Save flight a Newtest.FLT
Load newtest.FLT
Toolbar is present.
