Waste of time

Turn Graphics global settings to Low.

Disable Bing Maps and Photogrammetry.

Disable Online Traffic and Live Weather.

Remove all third party and Community Mods (including anything that talks to FSUIPC and / or SimConnect.

Confirm RAM, GPU and CPU are not under/overclocked.

Reboot.

Start a flight with the 152 and a simple flight at a non Photogrammetry and non customized airfield.

Do a few circuits and bumps.

Move from a single airfield to a hop to another airfield.

All stable, no crashes?

Do it again with a glass cockpit GA plane. Circuits and bumps, then a small hop.

Do it again with a default jet.

And again. And again.

Here comes the hard part - turning on ONE of the above settings. I would start with Bing Maps and then, Photogrammetry.

After you proved it works at Low, turn it all off again and try at Medium Global settings.

This is how true regression testing works. You strip the system down to the bare minimum.

You are trying to minimize the dependence between variables. Based on your posts, you have way too many to come to a reasonable conclusion about what may or may not be working in your setup.

Bottom-Line: It SHOULD work at that Low level with everything turned off. If it does not, it’s not the sim that is the problem.

They do not. I haven’t had any CTDs up until 2 weeks back where now they’re more frequent than ever. I haven’t changed any settings at all. Very frustrating

Thank you that has confirmed that I have been doing my testing correctly. I removed it completely went to low settings validated the sim with short, then longer flights, then began by adding in the 3rd party software.
I did not know about the bing maps and photogrammetry.

That is indeed one of the best steps to take, as it helps prevent the Simconnect CTD issue.
Simconnect becomes more unstable the more data that is put through it, which is why it affects longer fights a lot.
Turning off AI helps a lot in this, but will not a fix-all cure.
So will not using things like Simbrief, or Little Nav Map, or FSUIPC7 (which has developed a workaround that helps with those users.).

OK - so I must spend literally 000’s of £££ to have something that is unusable?
You make a brilliant argument for me to take my cash and head off to x-plane.
One or two crashes fair enough, 16 out of 20? That is ridiculous. On top
of hours upon hours to uninstall/reinstall and try and work out what the hell is
going on.
If you represent the attitude held by ASOBO then I have the answer I need
and I will trot off and find something else.

Hey sounds like you are describing the beta pipeline which Jorg is setting up with third party companies to given them a week or so prior to publishing patches to ensure this sort of stuff happens less in the future. Hopefully by mid 2021 this will be up and running.

Sorry you’ve certainly said this before, but just in yes/no terms:

When you went back to base settings, did the CTD stop?

For example, if you’re running the sim as vanilla (just base sim content included with the version you bought, no extra aircraft, .cfg mods or scenery) do you still get CTD?

Apologies, you must be sick of answering the same Q’s, there’s just a lot of posts and most of them seem to mention some sort of add on or modification so I wanted to ask explicitly.

You mention in this post that you validated with base settings then added content. Does validated = no issues?

What is the wattage of your PSU???. I use a Corsair HX1200i and have plenty of headroom and my PSU does not even break into a sweat. A PC being under powered can cause a lot of issues.

It’s important to remember that all previous FS you have flown were standalone locally installed programs.

You have a Cloud based delivery of critical sim components involved. You have a new sim core that brings all current hardware to it’s knees.

These are just a few differences that make comparisons to FSX, P3D, not an apples to apples.

I haven’t had a ctd for about 2 months. But now suddenly again. I haven’t changed anything. And before that I read something that you shouldn’t play too much with the settings. what is that supposed to mean? i have never seen such an unstable game. And how can it be possible that a game once works perfectly and then doesn’t work again. and the joke of it all is that I also built a new pc. Yes, the performance is better but the ctds are defiantly randome. or this game destroys itself over time boooooooooo

it is so weird that some people have so many crash to desktop while me i have only had like 5 the entire time and have even done 19 hour flights and many long hauls with no issues. i even raised my lod to 300 and play on 4k and 99% of the time it’s smooth i and have over 200 gb of stuff in my community folder, well i hope u find the issue that’s causing the ctd’s.

I don’t understand that either. As I wrote above, I had no ctd for 2 months and now suddenly unplayable. and I haven’t changed anything. really frustrating. maybe it’s the windows updates or the nvidia drivers no idea. The problem with the whole thing is that you simply shouldn’t have such problems with games. and you never know what is causing the problem. is it windows? am I doing something wrong? is it graphic driver ???

That, and I don’t take a crash or suspension of the program personally. Stuff happens

Looks (like many others have mentioned) like the usual add-ons that have bad inter-compatibility. Certain mods don’t work well with others and cause mods. If the person above has over a thousand £ of add-ons, it may come across an issue that I have seen: the add-ons are not always up to date unless using 3rd party software to keep it updated. Not all addons are probably at their latest version.

Why so many add-ons tho? Not judging your choice, but I feel like msfs has what it needs for a base sim. I can see the habit from xplane, but I don’t think it applies the same way.

I myself am waiting a bit longer before investing in the sim’s addons. Remember the first year of any simulator and msfs doesn’t too bad. Definitely needs some work but it’s getting there.

it may well be that some have installed too many addons and therefore ctds. but i only have a few and all with 3rd party. so everyone is always up to date. And as I said, how can it be that I had no ctd for 2 months and now suddenly again and again and again.

Same here, no CTD’s for me either
BUT I do not have one single ADDON and have not manually altered anything with MSFS. I am waiting until the sim is more stable before I shove any of those ADDONS in my system.

After the last update is when I noticed the increase in CTDs among so many more people including myself. Regardless of Simconnect, third party addons or Bing maps. Bottom line 1.12.13.0 is NOT WORKING and I wish I could go back to an older version or they would give us a choice to update or not. I would even take it back to three months ago everything was working fine. Things are getting worse not better. Ugly scenery spikes and taxi ribbon errors etcc
are FAR BETTER than CTD. Asobo get a clue.

I can understand if you say I wait until the simulator is more stable, but that’s why there are exactly the alpha and beta hmmmmm. We also have to be honest and just say that the simulator isn’t finished. you can’t just skip the beta and bring out an unfinished game and claim the full amount.

My installation is working quite well; I’ve flown a good number of flights across Europe and North America on this build.

If that’s the case; there’s a good chance that your issues are all local.

Yes it did stabilise out for a bit but there were a few near misses so to speak. On landing after a long flight the same stuttering and freezing happened but it sort of resolved itself within a few seconds and then got back to normal. Thank you for a considered reply.
