Flew from Southampton to Manchester in the 172 using IFR. Miserable weather, couldn’t see anything so the take off wasn’t pretty. But I got to EGCC ok. Now I can appreciate whey people complain about the icing effect!

I had time to stretch today’s southward jurney from El Golea (DAUE) to Reggane (DAAN). It was astounding how in the middle of nowhere this flight went, yet still that “nowhere” was an ever changing one of features so out of my European mind as if from another planet.

My journey went right over something that definitley looked like an airport, but neither the on board GPS marked it on the map, nor the game itself labeled it. I wonder if it was too small for the game to consider it more than a terrain feature, or if it’s an abandoned airport for some reason. I guess I’ll never know

Retried my flight from yesterday, another leg in my trip to see Mount Etna in the FK9.

EBRO (Schweighofen) to LFST (Strasbourg).

Very happy it didn’t crash again! Hoping it was a one-off. I did try to disable some software, but RAM is well within limits so I don’t think I was out of memory yesterday.

I had well prepared the flight using landmarks: railways, forrests, towns. Had a map with those features clearly listed. Timing and heading corrected for wind. This eventually brought me to my destination.

HOWEVER, the visibility was terrible. And looking at the current METAR, this is quite accurate. I guess the Sahara dust has something to do with it?
I don’t remember haze and visibility being this well simulated. So I’m hoping this was an improvement made recently! That would be great.

What was not great is that I could barely see in front of my eyes. So I had to fly quite low to ensure I could see the landmarks.

Not a very relaxed flight!

Photo Album

Ready to go, on the ground here, visibility looks OK …

But up in the air, I’m quickly met with Sahara dust or something:

Not what I like to see …

Ah, there is the airport … I think

Down-wind runway 23

As my instructor used to say, “you’re coming in from outer-space”

Slip and slide onto the giant runway

Parked in Strasbourg

Today marks my 4th day playing this, and the first time I ditched my ‘fantasy airline(s)’ idea which saw me flying around in a Boeing 747 in 2 liveries and tail numbers to reflect what I was trying to do there - for a new idea.

‘My own personal private jet’, idea.

Saw me start out at LCY - London City Airport because, new jet, new livery/tail number call sign flight number/the works, brand new jet ‘idea’.

I chose this because of its location and proximity to me, so, I’d love to go to London Bridge, take the DLR to LCY, and boom, I’m there, all on my Oyster Card, why not… Though, if I ever really did have private jet/airline money, I’d probably hire a car/limo or whatever to take me to LCY… nonetheless, LCY it was… I finally figured out the weather and time of day live controls yesterday, and today was also my first flight of this…

Now… The range went out the window and I mostly still fly on autopilot.
… I’m new, don’t hate…

I flew non-stop to Willow Grove, PA because, of proximity to where I know in the US, being Willow Grove and Horsham and New Britain, PA.. If I had a private jet, and if I could clear things with customs and immigration, and small private jets could traverse the globe nonstop (magically), I’d fly to Willow Grove’s naval air field over Philadephia (PHL) just because of sheer convenience, and being around the corner to where I know in America…

So I took off, the first time I saw Elephant & Castle from the air on this game… Xbox Screenshot… I was already having a good time…
… I’m not waiting 7 hours, so after I tested the new aeroplane to see how high I could take it, 420 FL is my new favourite, because, 420 and it’s 20 below its max, and testing/loving my new call sign and flight number and jet, so after I flew it around online (I found out how to make it all live; live weather and people, showed it all off; then fast-forwarded to my approach, LOVED IT…

Right off the bat I knew where I was looking out the window, it put me above Elizabeth, NJ and I looked, and sure enough, Newark, EWR was there… I honestly looked for Ikea from the cockpit/flight camera, but I also looked for NYC talking to NYC (all in my private jet heading towards Willow Grove, PA) and… I went from expecting my approach to be over Canada I guess, (747 flyer, and, I learned to fly on a 747 on this game as soon as I found it after 2 or 3 flights in the first plane it put me in… I took to the 747 and bought it back learning to fly for my airline(s) ideas…
So I made it to my approach, not booted, good connection, then I heard New York on the radio, I had the GPS on too so, that sort of confirmed what I hope when I saw the map… Saw the map, though I saw New York, heard it, looked up and saw Elizabeth, and saw Newark, looked for Ikea but then right away looked but couldn’t see NYC, because, in a nanosecond I looked for Ikea, I wanted to see if I could see Manhattan or JFK… I couldn’t…
I flew over Manhattan with my airline idea # 1 and that was cool, when I went into JFK.

Then I flew in on auto pilot smiling at the live weather and sky and things seeing what I recognised.

I also cheated and reset my fuel, but, let’s pretend I’m a timelord in this game for my own amusement, right, I’m this airline owner/1%'er with money to burn and nothing but traverse the Earth all day right, in this game, I can change the time of day and the weather… pretty much.

But I auto-piloted it just letting the AI do it all, with a big smile on my face, when I saw the JFK traffic and general business of it all, and when New York ATC handed me over to Willow Grove as I came in past everybody over New Jersey, it felt like leaving the rat race behind, and ‘they’re all in their work clothes at the end of the day trying to go home in the rush hour in the big cities’ and 'I get put down in the suburbs on my US door step/where I know in that country, in style, with my beautiful call sign/flight number and register.

I’m from London, so’s my private jet, so, I’ve given it a British registry since I’ve not yet googled the best places to register a jet, I stuck with what I know (4 days, newbie here)… and registered my new jet with a Briitsh format. GHIGH (I amuse myself).

I then… flew my new jet out of Willow Grove, PA’s naval airfield, to Euguene, Oregon (EUG) - where my airline # 1 idea saw EUG being a global hub with non stop flights to a lot of obscure popular/busy places in a with for Eugene and Springfield to be better connected to the world. I made it my airline’s hub in my mind for fun flying that 747 out of it in airline # 1 idea and learning how to customise everything…

When I took off, I finally saw Willow Grove itself from the air, I screenshotted all the places I mentioned from London to Willow Grove, but when I saw my doorstep out there, I was looking for roads and the mall and the turnpike and… EVERYTHING.
A bunch of screenshots when I took off…

I got it up to 420 FL, had so much fun, (I was with Willow Grove ATC, who handed me back to New York ATC and I heard a lot of traffic I was enjoying with interesting sounding flights/loving my own call sign in and amongst all that, that I enjoyed it all the way until New York ATC handed me over to Cleveland’s ATC which… Made me realise I was really doing nothing/have stuff to do except virtual my long flights… So I skipped ahead to my approach…

I lost connection’s ability to give me voice ATC and put in an hour or so getting from LCY to Willow Grove to EUG, from when I saw Elephant & Castle out the window to seeing Horsham out the window in the same flight to pulling out of Willow Grove and seeing Willow Grove out the window to be back in Oregon, and, this was live weather, etc conditions… I took off at midnight, skipped ahead to Pennsylvania at 7 pm, and finished in Oregon at 5 pm an hour later… and in my mind… I’ve parked it there…

I wish I could do all thee things in real life…

On my next flight,/time I play this (later today I guess); I want to go out from EUG to Ocean County, NJ (where I know in that state) and then fly to DUB (Dublin, Ireland) for St. Patrick’s Day ‘■■■■■ and giggles’ however, in Oregon, it’s still the 16th  so I’m good spending the night in Oregon in the game in my new fancy/schmancy private jet with its British Tail Number and everything, and last I saw it, it was daylight out but the sun was beginning to set (you could see it on the Earth/Map/Menu) and that flight started with Elephant & Castle at midnight local time 'out the window taking my now jet out of the box I put at my Oyster Card loving London local at LCY.

Perhaps I should have a private 747 aswell and make that flight # 001 and my Censa private jet flight # 002
and at least care about range.

Added some slight cape animation and some laser beams from Superman’s eyes (triggered with light nav switch) today

I got back on local time IDK, after 11 pm in Oregon when I decided I wanted to care about range, so, since my small private jet was in the area, I flew it up to Boeing Field 'to personally pick up my new Boeing 747…
First time I saw Seattle on this game in doing that despite the better part of the week using EUG as my hub…

I got there, never skipped ahead, got an achievement for sitting through a flight longer than 300miles when I did…

Then I went out, took my 747 to Dublin to test it out for St. Patrick’s Day… I only have base liveries so I went for the Green one…
I flew it to Dublin, crashed it flying around Dublin (twice), then decided I had more fun with my little private jet to reset the flight number for it to be 001 where ever I take it, flew to Teeside/MME (where I had this UK airline’s hub all week, for fun) just to see/triple check my private jet can land and park there, it could, then I went back to Dublin and that’s where my private jet is.

I figure it can hang around there today, tonight, I arrived at 8 am and got back at 9 am to pretend I’m in Ireland for St. Patrick’s Day… and worked out I don’t want to care about range or have a big private 747.

I was going to go to DUB via this airport I wanted to check out in New Jersey I saw coming into Willow Grove last night, but when I remembered I wanted a Boeing 747 and that they come out of Seattle, I when to Dublin via BFI (Boeing Airfield) and then went to Dublin from there.

that rocks! Keep at it.

Sorry you couldn’t complete your flight.

I’ve been getting frequent, random CTDs since SU8 whenever I fly the Spitfire.

What airplane are you flying here?

I forgot to mention, but, after days of using EUG as my hub, flying my small private jet up to Boeing Field last night was the first time I saw Eugene on the game, I went up and right over Eugene itself, over the heart of it and I saw College Hill and everything, was a nice surprise/first for me in this game.

I saw Springfield from a 747 going to Philadelphia PHL from it, but, last night, I flew over the heart of Eugene, that was cool.

Explored DD’s Renton (KRNT) scenery in VR.
The attention to detail is amazing and even a little PMDG easter egg thrown in there!
The most detailed scenery I’ve ever experienced thus far!

Decided to rob Fort Knox. Don’t imagine the security is too heavy on a Thursday.

Nice little strip

Lots of parking

They need to adjust the close limit switch on this gate. Just walk right on in.

Doors locked! I’d hate for costly repairs so I guess I’ll just leave

Hello, I was using the freeware FK9:

It was my first flight in SU8, but I did the flight again yesterday with no issues. I’ve had an occasional CTD but for me - so far - it has been very rare

Took Iron Man and Superman over the Grand Canyon
