Tail end of the flight from Monument Valley (UT25) over to Telluride (KTEX). Next time I might try making my turn from another 1-2000 feet high so I can have a longer final. Good fun battling the wind though as it was varying direction a lot.
This is my favorite thread on the forum. I started the first iteration long ago. The second is going strong and looks like it will last for a LONG time. Keep posting amazing pics and routes. I get ideas on where to go from this thread.
Fly safe!
I tried a flight around Anchorage Alaska and one from JFK to LGA, via a number of waypoints around NYC, flying the Edgly Optica so I could do some sightseeing.
I discovered two things:
- Since I have a DC-6 installed, AI ground aircraft includes DC-6’s. LOTS of DC-6’s.
(There were several parked at jetways when I landed at LGA.)
- If I have multiple screens defined using Space Desk, and I take a screen shot, it captures all three screens at the same time!
Blast it all! I took some nice scenery around NYC and I’ll have to cut all the screen-shots out of the composite pictures!!! (hiss, hiss, growl, growl!!!)
Flew the CRJ 700 super late last night from Detroit Metro to KROC
Tried a repeat of my JFK to LGA flight using the Diamond DV-40, after installing the bridge pack for NYC, and they’re much better!
Here’s the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.
Note the difference from the original Asobo version of the bridge.
I flew up the East River admiring the new bridges. The Dv-40 is such a dream to fly, I forgot to take pictures while I was flying! (I was busy admiring the scenery.)
I then flew up the Hudson river, following the Palisades Parkway toward Bear Mountain, while my heartstrings got a severe tugging, thinking about lost loves in the past. (I used to travel that way to visit.)
I turned back at the Tappan-Zee bridge, (also well done), and flew back down the Hudson River to LaGuardia.
Here’s the Harlem River bridge as I’m just about ready to turn final to LGA.
Short final with a great view of Rikker’s Island.
An even better view of Rikker’s Island. Trust me, you don’t even want to VISIT there as that’s where NYC sends its toughest hombres to cool their heels for years at a time.
A lousy landing lead to a “go around”. Wave bye-bye to LaGuardia!
Finally, I got on the ground.
You will notice the lack of landing pictures - that’s deliberate. That landing seriously stank as well as I went bouncing like a rubber ball all the way down the runway and missed going off the end into the airplane washing station by the skin of my teeth! Any pictures would violate my right against self-incrimination, so I snuck off the runway and hid as far away from everyone else as I could find a parking spot.

BUILT MY FIRST HELIPORT - 42FD Palm Beach State College
Yo @wingboss7 Thanks for joining me in the maiden flight to/from my first creation with the SDK, a heliport. You might have notice me blinking out of existence every time I tried to land…
Me chasing WingBoss7 like I know how to fly this thing!!
This is my first attempt at a heliport, got to figure out how to get the start name right.
And how to cut that grass - MSFS needs a golf green grass:
So, my heavy stuttering in NWUK, which duplicated the earlier Normandie issue, had me wondering, even though I had solved it through sim settings, just what add-ons were conflicting and were just a bit old and wonky. So, I turned off all 3rd party apps, scenery and airports, except for ORBX’ North UK, and my global VFR clutter and ships. Was interested in how I did not miss the clutter and the ORBX bits were enough business to satisfy this Los Angeles guy. Performance was fine, and I was surprised at how good the Manchester Barton Aerodrome looked - even down to the heliport. So, test flight and op from Hawarden (deserving of some app-maker’s attention) to Blackpool to Manchester.
Haha I saw you booping around in a heli, thought I would come say hi before teleporting over to the Swiss alps. Helipad looks good for first go at it! I got a few local pads I need to update as well. I saw that as a white circle on my side obviously. I was flying at live time and weather, boy was it a beautiful sunset down there!
Smooth landing ![]()
Really Bonding with ‘Little Nellie’, though flights are limited until someone makes a Blofeld livery for the Bell 47 (helo dogfights over the volcanoes?). Nice, though quirky to install and get started freeware on fs.to. Be sure to use your GA fixed-wing (like a Cessna) control settings, not helo settings. REX should be sure to only have ‘pink’ trees in April as the sakura are done by May.
KIAH to CYHZ. The AP in the avionics update is still a bit off, hence the altitude hiccup on descent. Great flight otherwise.
Took off from Whidbey Island for a short hop to Vancouver. Ran out of fuel mid way, and put it down safely on an island. One for the memory banks.
I completed another leg on my American tour in the DC-6. I am learning a bit of geography along the way. So far I’ve visited the states of Alaska, Washington, Idaho and now in Oregon.
