What did you do in MSFS today? (Part 2)

Creeping closer to Tenerife with my Piper Turbo Arrow III. This time a leg from GMMN (Casablanca) to GMMX (Marrakesh). About an hour of flying.

Using VOR to VOR navigation this time as it’s more in-land and the landmarks are fewer. SLK to BGR, heading 200 FROM.

Photo Book

Unless I am grossly incorrectly spatially aware this town should be Settat.

The lake from “Barrage Al Massira”

Beautiful sights from high up …

Already less than 20 nm from the BGR (Benguerir) VOR.

I switch tanks every 15. Sadly after every reload of a saved game, the aircraft restarts fully fueled up:

I’m not passing these mountains today, so I’ll keep it at 5000 ft

Actually a nice airbase an Benguerir, not shown on SkyVector:

I bet this long straight road is interesting to drive on:

At Marrakesh, next flight will be over these mountains in the distance:

At Tenerife, I will finally switch it up and fly the TBM back to the Alps.

I’m back on the air and I actually have something to contribute!

I decided to fly out of LBSB, (“Sunny Beach” Airport in Bulgaria), to fly over some places I visited with the granddaughters about five or so years ago.

Note:
Bing’s representation of the area is at least 15 years old, perhaps even 20, because much of the local area within MSFS is missing and totally undeveloped, whereas IRL it has been substantially improved for the last 20 years.  (The place we stayed was built 20 years ago and I have provided Google Maps images for comparison purposes.)

First:
Flying a Diamond DV-20 from LBSB, (a grass strip, provided as a courtesy to crop dusters?)

. . .due east, (more or less), to Nessebar, a historical island fortress from the middle ages.

Here I fly past a very famous landmark, the Windmill of Nessebar.  (The small building in the middle of the surface causeway.)

And this is what it’s supposed to look like.  (Google street-view)

Having explored Nessebar, I decided to fly back over the (Town?  City?) of Ravda, which is a pretty darn nice place to visit.

Here you can see Nessebar in the distance, just off the nose of the airplane and a major attraction, (a big aqua-park), just off to the left.

And here’s a closer view of the aqua-park.

Here’s Google’s view of the same place.  The aqua-park is in the top center, and the place we stayed at while we were there, (the Ravda Cascades), in the lower center.

Here’s the same place as viewed in-flight.  Note that there is just a teeny-tiny bit of detail missing.

And, to top it all off, here’s my (carefully staged), landing picture back at LBSB.

Truth be told, the landing seriously stank, I overshot once and when I DID get back on the ground, (facing the opposite way), I overran the runway and drove the plane all over the fields off the end of the runway.  To preserve at least a semblance of dignity, I turned around, drove back to the airport, parked, and THEN took the picture.  :man_facepalming:

Started flying the ATR again, it was a while ago since I was flying the PMDG over and over. Now looking into the ATR again. I’ll post a older video, great price for what you get in my opinion.

P.s. I’m working on new ATR videos.

Detroit to Minneapolis. FL380 over Milwaukee. This town has certainly seen its share of visitors.

Couple miles out of Minne.

On the ground in Minneapolis. Super busy airport made for a super glitchy approach again. I get to log two landings on this one apparently.

Short in time so a little bit of scenery inspection, castles and stadiums today. Windsor you sit about 4’ off the ground, at least the dust effects are so good I still wouldn’t spill a drink setting it down in negative space.

Next leg of tour around Pacific in DC-3 in real weather: KHIO :airplane: KRDD
I prepared partial IFR plan, because of overcast on first half of the route. Luckily the departure was quite simple. Just follow VOR and then simple flying from VOR to VOR. At the same time I was able to observe stunning sunrise. After passing OED I cancelled the IFR flight and continued VFR. There were no clouds anymore and especially the next V-leg had min altitude 12000", because of the mountains. I decided to fly VFR, follow the road through valleys and stay at 9500". And then I could also descend earlier flying through the valley.

Amongst other flights two flights to Nice (LFMN). First I was in the TBM930 from EGNX via LFLL.

I was over the mtow don’t tell anybody…hence why I had to stop over in Lille as I couldn’t take the required amount of fuel.

Leaving Lille I was reminded that fall is here…yayyyyyyyy!!

Approach to Nice was stunning and the high minimums increased the hand flying fun all the way down.

I later came back to Lille from Libya (HLLQ) in the CJ4 to find this guy landing after me. Made for a nice sunset shot.

Continuing my around the world continental coastline trip, today I flew from PANC (Anchorage, AK) to PACJ (Juneau, AK) in the TBM 930. The weather was nasty with heavy rain at both airports. The landing at Juneau was dicey. Almost no visibility on approach, I used RNAV 8 approach, and I couldn’t see the runway until I was on short final. I managed a pretty decent landing for such harsh conditions. The head winds were so strong that I slowed enough to exit the first taxi way. The pucker factor was high on this one.

Another quick beautiful flight in the E-175 from MDSD to MDPP.
MDSD is such a beautiful positioned airport, driving the coastal Autopista Las Americas (route 3) to the right you can see the lights and inbound/outbound air traffic as you get closer to the airport.
This particular Bravoairspace MDSD scenery also has a pretty cool old aircraft boneyard scenery area to explore as well.

I continued Pacific tour in DC-3 in real weather: KRDD :airplane: KSFO. Today I tried just VFR. METAR looked good for both airports. But it was quite foggy in San Francisco area. Luckily the airport was not. And I was also lucky to find the recommended VFR route through the area without fog. I thought of choosing 2 very busy airports for this part of the tour: KSFO and KLAX. KSFO was really busy. Tower told me to follow aircraft on final. Which one? I could see 2 for left runway (+1 on the right runway).

Let’s see how KLAX will be busy next time.

I just completed the bush flights added in the last major update. Again my bush flights are at 100% complete.

Those flights are one of my favorite things to do on MSFS. Why? 1. Because I enjoy sight-seeing with those descriptions of the areas’ history, geography, demographics, etc. 2. It’s forces me to try out a variety of aircraft. and 3. They allow a convenient “chapter-like” defined flight where I can escape real life for a half hour ±.

I look forward to the next batch. Meanwhile I may re-fly a couple of my favorites.

GMMX - GMAD (Marakech - Agadir), 100 nm flight, in the Piper Arrow III.

Using the VOR’s at both airports. Crossing the mountains of the Atlas.

I discovered I had my Save State disabled and my Auto Fuel Selector enabled. Maybe that is why my fuel was always full … aha

Look inside for pictures

Bye everyone!

Will I clear these mountains? At 16000 ft?

High and dry, FL160-ish

Some serious ground speed:

Ik keep waiting for the VOR to show up, but it doesn’t look like it’s happening … (in the end, it did!)

Gaining some speed on the descent:

Time for a virtual snack. Next up, Lanzarotte!

Just an easy flight from Petaluma to Pismo the other day.

Every time I get there I find a crowd by the Dr. Pepper machine. What’s in that stuff?
