Brenner Pass - flight from Bolzano to Innsbruck

San Francisco weather got slightly better so I did leg 12 of California dreams bush-trip in WB-Sim C172 in real weather: KCCR :airplane: CA35
I had to be careful. Cloud ceiling was at 5000ft and strong wind was pushing me to B airspace that I wanted to avoid. But I crossed the bay reached San Rafael airport and landed with about 8kn crosswind.

Then I continued the last leg to CA51. And it was a bit slow flight with 30kn headwind. Unfortunately, when I had the airport in sight, the sim froze :frowning:

LAS to Burbank in the PMDG B738. :open_hands: A bit more of a challenge than the A320 but that’s sort of the fun in it. But I do say, the B738 is so much more smooth in the flare. :butter: even with a 5 knt tailwind. :smirk: Still bumpy over the Sierra Nevada’s. This would have a been a fun little jaunt IRL.

TBM from Goteborg to Oslo:

Log book of interesting events and pictures

Not an expert, but I’m on STD barometric pressure at 180000, is that not FL180?

What even … “FL” but giving me a QNH :frowning:

ATC driving me nuts … FL180 but QNH 19.47, expedite your descend … WHAT DO YOU WANT from me …

So I put it back to STD? No! You are below now. What the …

I’m hoping the AI ATC’s that are always announcded come soon and are actually worth something …

I really don’t get what I’m doing wrong with this altitude. I am 400 ft above, so if I put it to STD then I am good because then I am at 18400 ft and will descend 400 ft. But once I’m there, it is also not “correct” and then it gives me the QNH again, which I don’t need for FL … what even … I wonder if 18000 ft is the transition altitude (although in Sweden it is actually 5000 ft as I understand). Maybe this is not correctly implemented. So I request increase of 2000 ft.

I enjoyed my trip around the Shetland Isles so much that I decided to take a similar day trip around the Orkney Islands:

Apart from the wonderful scenery, this trip allows you to practice many cross-wind landings under live weather conditions!
OK, off we go:

The wide open spaces allow you to land at many scenic spots along the way. This is atop Ward Hill (481m) on the island of Hoy:

Crossing Hoy Sound to the Mainland. The town of Stromness is on the right:

Leaving Sanday, en-route to North Ronaldsay:

End of the flight: Fair Isle Airstrip with Ward hill behind it. I’m guessing those black lines are channels to divert water away from the end of the runway, but they & the boggy areas sorta look like Neolithic rock art too.

Well, it took me three years to do a flight to the sub pens in Groton that Freaky made. Not a lot of development otherwise in the area. Otis ANG to Groton-New London

FL180 is the standard transition level in the US but I’ve also noticed it lazily appplied to other parts of the world in flight sim

Drove my new AMX 10-RC from Wick to Golspie in Scotland

I was actually surprised how little I had to slew myself out of terrain on this trip! Some bridges were impassable and there were two holes in the road between Wick and Golspie but otherwise it was kinda smooth sailing. I even learned something new - if you want to minimize the risk of getting yeeted across the landscape when crossing a bridge, you have to drive veeeery slowly across. Somehow that solves 9/10 bridge glitches.

Anyway, here are some shots I took. It is quite relaxing to drive this beauty once I modified my joystick control scheme for it!

I finished California dreams bush-trip in WB-Sim C172 in real weather: CA35 :airplane: CA51
Again early morning flight. Still strong 20kn headwind, but less turbulence and less clouds.

I spawned just with moon setting.
