It’s rain and snow flurries at home in Portland, but down in Southern California I had a lovely flight from Big Bear to Burbank.

I’m really remembering how much I liked the Carenado Mooney and am happy it got a recent update! The engine gauge readouts are really well designed on it as modeled, and it feels great. The autopilot takes some getting used to but I’ve about figured out the VS handling.

Took the straight route over the mountains; 10,500 may have been a bit low but the view was great!

Passed over Burbank, to lose altitude in the Valley and turn around for landing on rwy 8.

And passing over Van Nuys on the way back:

It’s 4:45am USA time. US servers are dead and have been for a few hours, understandably. I switch to European server, and…

Yes it was the weekly DC Designs community group flight. Every week we have dozens of pilots join in on a flight. We have pilots from all over the globe join in the fun and games. This week was a few runs down the Grand Canyon.
They weren’t trying to race, more checking targeting systems calibrations
After all a Mig is a natural target

I did some sightseeing around Moscow in the Diamond Katana after I installed new Moscow scenery.

Russia’s “Mission Control”

Tzaritsina, the summer home of Catherine the Great when in Moscow.
It is virtually the entire picture up to the Tzaritsina train station and tracks.

The Butovo “Firing Range” - which is an important memorial here.

. . . and a detail from Yandex Maps showing the “firing range” and it’s associated memorial church.

And just in case you were wondering. . . . Where I live here in Butovo.

Interesting.

From my point of view it appeared a group of mil jets were flying very high above the canyon opposite direction from me, and had changed altitude and direction to position themselves the same direction as me, and just so happened to fly fast enough to keep yourselves in my rear view mirror

Nice spectating. Hopefully you enjoyed the view of the back of my plane from above

I haven’t been able to fly for a few days and I was itching to ba airborne once again. I almost set up a flight from KDSM to KSTL as it had Vatsim coverage, then by the time I had my flight plan, they went offline.. Sadly this seems to be happening quite often.

I decided to skip that one tokeep it for later and did a short trip from Losnij (LDLO) to Split - Kastela (LDSP). There was no controller or even any traffic nearby, so I just sat in silence, tuned to unicom. However the Croatian islands and coastline is quite a sight, so I was kind of compensated.
