Early morning hop from Arlington, Oregon to The Dalles / Columbia Gorge Regional, heading downriver.
First photo session with the An-225 - haven’t flown it yet, though. Still a bit in disbelief that this is a screenshot captured on my Series X - the future for us console simmers is bright.
I took the Albatros further South in my world tour with it, going VOR to VOR from Panama Pacifica (MPPA) to José María Córdova (SKRG):
SU12 seemed to have messed up something in the GNS530, even though I have removed and reinstalled my addons, still my actual direction and the GNS perceived heading was way different as you can see. With an actual heading of 138 the plane on the GNS was looking about 190-200-ish. Couldn’t find ou how to sync that, but managed to complete the flight nevertheless
Video later here:
Is this the Inibuilds KOKC? If so how is it? I live in the area and am thinking about buying it.
Having established that SU12 works I did another flight, but this time with the HondaJet and on Vatsim:
Video later here:
I don’t usually do landing challenges, but I gave the featured one a try:
This was the best one in 4 attempts
Flew from Harrisburg PA KMDT to Chicago Midway KMDW on a Boeing 737 Max
Found mahself a shack. This is from yesterday in NZ, took a flight over in the PAC 750, then saw something resembling an ultralight airstrip but unlabeled. So I took the Drifter back to investigate, and catch some ridge lift on a breezy day.
Long transit day - Quebec to Goose Bay to Narsarsuaq Greenland. RON before the Reykjavik leg. G3000 handled the dogleg RNAV 06 descent perfectly.
Gave the An-2 a try - it’s really weird seeing the airspeed in kph. I kept looking around for the VSI too lol. Thank goodness for the ToolTips, although I wish they also indicated condition for some of the levers.
Gorgeous view flying over Temecula in the morning.
My parking spot for today.
Took the JPL C152 on a couple of trips fraught with danger and several key mistakes on my part, which of course added to the fun. First I took off from L08 (Borrego Valley) to F70 (French Valley), and diligently did everything except for glance down to see that she was out of oil. Took off, and noticed this detail once I had reached 4500 feet. As I pondered the situation, the engine died and I had to turn around and land in the desert (wind direction made returning to the airport impossible). I landed safely, then re-started a new trip from KMYF (Montgomery Field for repairs and oil), to F70 once more. Live weather created some gorgeous conditions, mostly rain and then into some IFR conditions about 14 miles from F70, meaning that I once again could not continue. I decided to venture into the zero-visibility conditions, and then test my skill at doing a u-turn. It’s really scary to do but I made it. I was able to land at a nearby airport and then move time to morning and weather to a Floyd preset to finish my journey to F70 then from there back to KNKX where I found a real ■■■■■■■ parking spot. Also got to play around a lot with leaning using the EGT you can swap in place of the clock. A bit easier to do than in the Bonanza. Fun and learning all in one session!!
Flew the Antonov AN2 from VOMM (India) to VOBL (India)
Did some patterns in the Bagolu Skyhawk.
Wait for it:
I chose Woodland near Portland, no bad intentions, but it turned out to confuse people on Vatsim: “Did you just say final?!”
Sorry! ![]()
So I started to emphasise the “Wwooodddland”.
Cool thing: Volanta records all touchdowns in patterns.
Landings got better, as I deliberately focused on and practiced the often-heard “eyes at the end of the runway!”
