What do you think the surprise will be?

I’m really hoping it’s being able have passenger /co-pilot applause for displays of good airmanship or screams of terror for my usual standard…

I think they will replace the fine coffee we usually serve with Folger’s crystals.

Well, it has been many surprises since release. Removal of windgusts feature in su4, removal of lightnings in su7?, Completely change of the Meteoblue weather to be more of a METAR weather with transitions and stuff in su7. Maybe some other feature removal/change is the surprise?

I don’t want to be the negative Nellie, but 2 years of watching updates has trained me to be a pessimist here.

I’m expecting a whole lot of hype and no real content or improvement. Maybe a red flag jet to go with the F/A-18 we already received.. As someone above mentioned, maybe some thing similar to Reno.

I wouldn’t expect any SU type content (fixes or new core features). But maybe something will get in there. That would cheer me. I’m way more interested in core improvements than I am in gee-whiz junk.

I figured it out, Tom Cruise is going to visit each and every user out there and personally teach them to fly like the Mav… NO?

There’s a wishlist item for shared cockpit, feel free to vote as the feature is planned but not started and being a lot of work to implement, the earlier they get started, the better. Unless that’s the surprise, but difficult to say as it’s just a feature amongst others.

Many pc users would start complain about performance issues if they did that. Many did before xbox-release. I’m a pc-user but do not blame xbox. I blame those complaining about performance.

Right, I think the surprise will be something tangible, either a new plane for purchase or included, not a fix or feature that’s already been announced.

And, yes, I voted for that wish when it was created

I was just sharing my excitement over how much I’d love to see shared cockpit implemented.
I’m imagining I’d have to make a new wish list to have the visible co-pilot/pilot implemented with shared cockpit, with motions appropriate to the actions of both users (probably hide the body of the user and show the other). I’m not sure how popular such a feature would be, but, it would be a cool addition I’d like to see.

It wasn’t Xbox users nor PC users that crippled the graphics or performance. It was someone else.

I didn’t even know there was a surprise coming. This is news to me.

My hope, new ATC engine. But not getting my hopes up.

I agree that shared cockpit may not be top contender as the surprise, tho I’d love to have it sooner than later.
Asobo has been releasing planes like the aviat Huskey and that wasn’t announced in a major fashion so I’m not optimistic on the surprise being just a plane - unless particularly unique and in a large set of options, but even then.

We can work with what we have:
The roadmap 2022 category is Major Releases with the description being “Large updates that expand the simulation in a variety of ways”.

We got Xbox cloud streaming out of the first surprise. These are pretty significant and with E3 around the corner, I wonder what’s in the air that is significant enough to change the dynamic or add to it.

They discussed ATC in the Dev Q&A. They said essentially, they tried to use the old FSX code, but it didn’t work out, so they’re going to completely rewrite it. The earliest we’ll see the new ATC will be the end of the year; it’s much more likely it’ll start rolling out Q2 next year as they are doing a complete rewrite, all new code, as stated by Martial.

I’m going to guess that Blackshark over the last two years has been experimenting with better rendering of photogrametry data. Consider that MS has announced they have a whole new team working on getting PG data now. Jorge has always answered about he wants to do something different and fix PG when it comes up in Q&A. They have talked about making the algorithms smarter for the area you are in (like SA is mainly all small buildings surrounded by a fence. Ask anyone who has visited SA, the fences EVERYONE has is a standout feature of SA, but in sim they render as a large house). This next World Update has 13 PG cities instead of just the normal 3-5. They are investing big in PG, so I am guessing they are also investing in the rendering of it too…

Well at least we know it’s getting a revamp at some point.

As noted above, a completely rewritten ATC is planned and is NOT the surprise.
