Who is hyped for WU6?

I recon some issues will be fixed in SU6, most will not and some new ones will be gifted upon us.

Indeed, this looks ugly !

This forum is gonna blow in a few hours .. Buckle up and good luck. I hope all goes well for us today.

If anyone is wondering what they are planning to fix, below is what they said on 19th August:

In order to ensure that World Update 6 reaches a very high level of quality, we have decided to move back the release date to September 7th. We are very excited about this update as it features many enhancements to the region, including new aerials and elevation maps, new photogrammetry cities, 4 hand-crafted airports , nearly 100 POIs and new discovery flights, landing challenges, and bush trips. It’s a ton of content and we want to make sure that it will be great. In the meantime, here are some highlights from the World Update 6 release notes:

STABILITY

-Several crashes have been fixed across the title

NAVIGATION

-Fixed ATC radar altitude so the ATC no longer asks you to change your altitude when it is not applicable -The VFR Map now displays information for latitudes beyond 75 degrees -New AIRAC cycle 2108 is now available

ACTIVITY

-Fixed crash in autosave in bushtrip missions when the user has a non-ASCII name

PLANES

-SR22 performance and fuel consumption has been modified to better match POH -Gyro Drift is now correctly set when Aircraft Systems assistance preset is set to Easy / Medium / Hard

WORLD

-“Offscreen terrain pre caching” graphics settings has been added (Low, Medium, High and Ultra). If set to Ultra, all the offscreen terrain will be cached at full quality which will reduce FPS drops and LOD popping when panning the camera but may impact overall performance -Maximum photogrammetry draw distance has been further increased. As a result, photogrammetry of downtown building areas will be visible from farther away -Cities at night are now more visible on the World map

VR

-The title no longer crashes when quitting the sim in VR -Various tutorial fixes: briefs and debriefs are properly displayed, players can complete all the objectives in VR now

SDK

-Fixed group displaying issue in the scenery editor -Projected Mesh not rendered when moving camera or adding new one in the Scenery editor (we force the loading of LOD 0) -Improved some text rendering for XML gauges -Plane debug screens now correctly calculate and display GPH/gallon per hour fuel consumptions (DebugAircraftEngines & DebugAircraftTracking)

Full release notes will be released with the update on September 7th.

Nah, those reviews are pretty meaningless.

As an example, here are two more games that apparently really suck if you go by Microsoft Store reviews

Metacritic is a better place to go - don’t look at the Meta Score, look at the user score. MSFS is 7.2/10, Skyrim is 8.4/10, fallout 4 is 5.6/10.

I agree that MSFS has issues, but Microsoft Store reviews aren’t the best source of user sentiment.

I just hope that WU6 fixes the game for, cant even get to the main menu, whole pc freezse at 80% and my ticket just sits around at “open”

Remember this is a World Update, not a bugfixing / sim update. More prominent bug fixing will probably take place in the next Sim Update in October.

There is thankfully some stuff included you would only expect in a SU though, like ATC etc…

I’m not hyped. I’m worried that they will break the sim even more than it already is. They usually fix one thing and break 10 other things.

Yeah I’m not hyped at all. I’m hoping they fix things and don’t break others, however the track record isn’t good. Well have to wait and see. I’m surprised they haven’t learned their lesson about testing these updates before releasing them. It’s been over a year and they’ve said many times they wouldn’t let this happen again and yet it does.

I’m fairly hyped. The fix list looks good without being too extensive given this is a world update. The scenery stuff will be fine, although not a big issue for me. The sim is performing great for me right now and really enjoying it.

I hope they gonna fix the spoiler toggle function.
So far I can’t toggle the spoiler through the key binding or the button binding on my logitech joystick.

This problem refers to jets and airliners.

Me too, I upgraded to 32GB for MSFS after which I saw my RAM usage halve to a max of 11GB. I’m curious to see whether increasing the new draw distance slider will use the system RAM and not the VRAM.

“CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC”

I’ve been using the same Trackir unit that I purchased in 2010. Can’t do anything flight or racing related without it. Even bought a second one for backup.

Even on the release and celebrated birthday week of MSFS and its World update 6, the communication from official side leaves much to be desired, such as official release times etc.
Asobo and Microsoft really sell its customers for stupid…

As far as sensible communication with their customers is concerned, the two companies still have a lot to learn. I’ll be happy to give them lessons!

TrackIR is invaluable to say the least. I fly exclusively on VATSIM and most of the time under VFR. Before I got TrackIR I had to use the analog joystick on my joystick (heh) to keep looking for traffic and also for navigation by referencing TAC and sectional charts and looking outside and it got so tiresome. It’s so effortless with TrackIR. TrackIR is also a massive help when you’re in the pattern.
