As was explained above, if you can get to the airport to struggle with aircraft, you can play the game and fly.
Buggy or not, that doesn’t constitute a game breaking issue in the eyes of MS/Asobo and therefore would not be a candidate for a hotfix.
Folks get mad at me for saying this like I came up with the policy, but I am just parroting what Community Managers have said about hotfixes over the years.
Day one, when nobody could install, load, or launch 2024, THAT rose to the occasion of a hotfix.
Issues with certain aircraft do not. Because you can simply switch aircraft and still play the game.
You still might find your issue to be game breaking. I often do. But that doesn’t mean it qualifies for a hotfix.
It helps to understand what they will and won’t hotfix certain issues so as to set realistic expectations.
Oh yes it’s perfectly acceptable to release a product that “supports” VR but has game breaking issues then use the excuse not to fix because you have no factual evidence of the number of VR users, yet again a know it all.
I don’t know if you can even call this playable.
You can’t start a mission with a helicopter because a crash immediately happens.
Other players can’t even do heavy cargo missions because they don’t have planes to buy due to having the standard edition.
And those who bought the expensive edition can buy planes, but they can’t start missions either.
The ATC doesn’t work properly, making it almost impossible to complete missions.
Routes disappear, like the destination airport and so on.
I really don’t know what the developers are thinking if they believe this can wait until January.
No way.
By then, the game will be dead.
So you expect everyone to stop asking for fixes to the pletora of issues we see because of…“The Policy”.
I have no idea about any policy but it would be cool to see all those fixes that , as Asobo claims, can now come easily and smoothly and super fast because they are server side…or whatever
But MS/Asobo would not. They would maybe call it, “Helicopter breaking” and then point out all the Cessna 172 missions that work.
Those types of bugs get fixed with traditional patching and QC, rather than with rushed hotfixes.
I took two six month breaks from 2020 when I was dealing with game breaking issues that MS didn’t consider game breaking, and therefore didn’t patch quickly. When I came back both times, it was almost like flying a new sim.
And that context you provide I think it is useful but doesn’t justify the fact that many parts are very broken, often with issues we already dealt with in FS2020…so I think it is normal for people to voice their displeasure in the form of questions like OP’s…are they going to take the same time it took them last time to fix things (+12 months in some cases)? do we need to dedicate the same time and effort to log the same bugs over and over again?
2020 “supported” VR on release. Actual Support for VR came I think 2 years later. I may have my dates wrong, but this is what I remember. You can likely expect a similar delay for 2024, hopefully half that time? Like it or not, industry does not support VR very much. Last I heard, HP is ending support for VR. I’m sure you’ll argue with me, but, it is what it is. I wish it were different.
BTW, apparently Microsoft is releasing hotfixes as we speak, without actually saying anything. I saw somebody post an image of a partial list of fixes applied yesterday.
That was the “supported” part. Maybe I got the two years part wrong, perhaps it was a year later they added the dedicated VR development team for a little while which added the actual support for VR, or was that in that December and I’m way off?
Be that as it may, @CraigRiga is correct we’re not seeing any comment on making VR actually work in 2024. There’s a difference between being able to connect a VR headset and have the game recognize it, vs. being able to actually use VR. My comment was meant mainly to support what @WellREDBarron has been saying… “Yeah, fixing VR is pretty far down the triage list right now, sorry.”
What you have seen as “partial list of fixes” was a patch for the flight planner tool.
Completely different product, with more than enough own bugs on it’s own.
Yes, it works with FS-24 and it IS a big addition, especially for the XBox customers for sharing flightplans.
Be that as it may, the team responsible for developing 2024 navdata code and tools released a hotfix for a 2024 associated app, and didn’t say anything about the release. I wouldn’t doubt it if there are likely hotfixes being applied we’re unaware of, because they can.
Communication with the user base is a significant load on people, and, given how fast things are moving right now, and the likely light staffing going on right now, I agree with what a lot of other people are saying. Communication is going to suffer even more than bugfixing right now.
