Thanks for the update.

I had a go of the high altitude stratosphere challenge. Didn’t go well! Not sure if there is a bug in the Objectives hints text. The pre-game screen said about firing the booster jets (whatever they were called) but the hint I was waiting for never came up. Could not reach Mach 3 let alone Mach 9! (it was 1.47 with the 10deg pitch then started going down to below 1 so I nosed down, turned boosters on myself. Then it overstressed (seems that setting is forced on in challenges as I have it turned off) when reaching Mach 1.9.

I was pretty tired when trying so I probably missed something. Not a great view forward in this thing! Better than smashed high-speed glass directly into your face though I guess

I just took the Red Wings Constellation out for a cruise.

I got curious about where it stands in the list and wasn’t really surprised (maybe a little?) to find that only four people listed this model in their Top 5.

Since version 1.8 is broken I am still flying version 1.7 and looking forward to the proper release of either 1.8 and/or 1.9 - the model will ultimately get better I’m sure. Right now it is clearly a work-in-progress.

A touch pricey, in beta and only available at simmarket is the three most likely reasons for that.

Previous top five:

  1. Milviz Cessna 310
  2. Aerosoft Twin Otter
  3. SWS Kodiak 100
  4. Flysimware Cessna 414
  5. Big Radials Grumman Goose

Current top five:

  1. Milviz Cessna 310 - continues to impress
  2. Aerosoft Twin Otter
  3. Big Radials Grumman Goose
  4. Asobo Husky A-1C - rediscovering this little jem for bush trips
  5. Just Flight 146 Professional - The 146 Professional is interesting and a very well done simulation but I don’t think I’m a jetliner type so this may not last long in the top five. We will see.

Dropping out is the Kodiak and Cessna 414 but they join my all time favs the Just Flight Piper Turbo Arrow III, Hawk T.1, PMDG DC-6, Wing42 Boeing 247D and Flying Iron Spitfire Mk.IX.

As of today (May 27th):

  1. Fenix A320
  2. Milviz C310
  3. PMDG 737
  4. JF BAe 146
  5. JF Piper Arrow

Would like to see in the future:

  1. Study level King Air B200 (with realistic engine management/failures/analog avionics)
  2. High fidelity C172, at least on par with A2A or AirfoilLabs level - this would be great for people who want to practice realistic VFR flights and even beginners
  3. Boeing 777-200ER/300ER/F - coming from PMDG, fingers crossed
  4. Diamond DA-50 RG
  5. A good glider - to prove the point that Asobo address pure flight physics calculations seriously

Agree completely on the Constellation. So full of charm and character. Incredibly complicated systems wise but luckily with an extensive AI. 1.9 is just out now with a lot of improvements. By 2.0 it will come to the marketplace.

I don’t use the challenges but I had no problem getting to mach 10 and 275kft in open. The first time I enabled scramjets at mach 3 I didn’t pitch up and it overspeeded faster than I realised what what was going on. The second time I pitched up 20deg and it was all fine.

Like most of these planes you need to follow the right profile stages, there’s good detailed descriptions in the relevant thread.

Old list

  • Concorde -
  • Staggerwing -
  • Kodiak -
  • Islander -
  • Embraer 110 Banderainte -

This weeks list

  1. Concorde - Still pretty thrilling to get her up to Mach 2
  2. Embraer 110 Banderainte - Started flying this bird again and even with its flaws I do like it.
  3. Grumman Goose - Just purchased this last week and started learning it, both water and land landings, I’m in!
  4. Staggerwing - Still enjoy flying this old gal.
  5. Islander - My go to for Caribbean flying.

Updating! Old one:

New one to integrate the Fenix:

  • 737 - PMDG
  • 247D - W42
  • A320 - Fenix
  • C310R - Milviz
  • P28R Turbo Arrow III/IV - JF

(quality wise the Fenix could be first, but the lack of performance is a limit to my enjoyment)

Hi all. The Sunday Runway Show is Live and On Air again!

If you want to see some MORE GREAT planes that fall outside of the Top 25 above, you can grab the full PDF download here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lffh78nxreqz6to/MSFS%20Aircraft%20Ranking%2015.pdf?dl=0

And the weekly chart:

(Note that the weekly scores are not direct additions to the main global charts, because many of these are updates from existing contributors. Therefore sometimes the actual effect on the main table is a reduction of total score for a particular plane).

——— MY SUMMARY —–—-

Cessna 310R had the biggest increase of the planes right at the top end, and seems that it will be staying with the leading pack.

The Fenix had a huge 27 position increase since last week BUT still not reached the top end (just made it to #15 - and nowhere near the number of votes the PMDG 737 received at launch).

Surprised that the Trislander hasn’t even had more than 4 mentions!!

Kodiak actually lost a number of votes this week via people updating their lists, so the gap is closing down a bit.

Quite a few new planes were mentioned this week! French-VFR PBY Catalina, Asobo Gee Bee R2, L-39 Albatross and the Darkstar from the Top Gun DLC.

Note: As I didn’t hear back from @V8SHARK I assumed they would prefer Fenix over FBW now (…if I’m wrong let me know so I can adjust).

Hiya. Is there an error in this? You have 2 number 4’s with the Goose inset below CRJ. Check please

1.) The Fenix Airbus
2.) The not-yet-released Fenix Airbus P2F Freighter version
3.) The PMDG 737 (if getting the visual bugs in the cockpit patched)
4.) The Flysimware Cessna 414 Chancellor
5.) The Carenado Seneca

The best hangar ever!
