Can msfs remain as a PC flight sim and a xbox flight game

Really?

Because it’s a flight sim and F14s fly?

Try and think of it this way. Why do warbird owners spend £££s restoring and then flying warbirds if they cannot shoot each other down?

Because first and foremost they want to preserve classic and / or rare aircraft that fly…

You can’t compare any of the PMDG-level aircraft to any of the default aircraft.

You sit in front of a screen - it’s not real - it’s a game. And what is a label anyway - I don’t know how I got so worked up over someone so detached from reality.

I just need to learn to ignore these types…

As if the label defines the actual content. You can call it whatever you like. Flight Sim has always included gamey content and been distributed and categorized as a game for home entertainment purposes.

It’s also not going to be the go to game on the PC platform 9 years from now, or even Microsoft’s go to software product. Yet Flight Sim has been a successful product nonetheless, and making it available on another platform contributes to that.

Fair comment!

Although “Whatever” is such an… unsatisfactory repost. Don’t you think?
Still, at least you had the grace not to tear my head off. Haha.

And yes, true though your point may be, sadly, the X Box is but one of many of the victims of derision in
these forums. Hardware, software and users alike!

Hopefully time will work in all our favours.

Given that Microsoft themselves say this is a ten year project for PC flight simmers it almost will certainly be the go to game for them. I stand to be corrected since I do not own an xbox but my understanding is that at present xbox users are unable to make us of of the massive amount of freeware mids that are available to PC users . Is this the case .?

The eternal sim vs game discussion is really tiresome, it’s just a label in the end.

MSFS can be enjoyed by more advanced users as well as those who are new to the genre and everyone in-between. It’s the perfect example where the different aids can make the experience easier or more complex (by turning them off).

Aa a community we should welcome new people with open arms, some fresh blood is definitely what the genre needs and we have all started somewhere, right?

Let people enjoy it the way they prefer, may it be by exploring places with the drone camera or doing a ten-hour flight.

Steady on. I am a PC user and no one told me I was part of a cult. How do I leave?

Man I hope it lasts ten years. Sometimes I really worry this is going to turn into round 2 of Microsoft Flight. Microsoft has lots of franchises that have been around for decades though. Halo, and the RTS “Age of…” series come to mind.

Not yet, but it’s supposedly in the works.

And you aren’t either. You’re just a game playing schlub like the rest of us.

So right now as it stands we actually have 2 very different versions of this title . The xbox version that is unable to make use of the 1000,s of mods that are now available and the PC version that allows those users who wish to add mods to enhance the game/sim to do so.

I believe that at least some of the resentment with regard to Xbox and PC has been discussed in another topic lately, which I’m linking a post of mine which tries to sum these up:

“We got to get this right with you guys first, and by you guys I mean the people that really have been propping up this thing for the past 35 years”

And the recurring question seems to be why do PC simmers are believing Xbox is reducing their experience, or endangering their hobby, and there is at least a few possible reasons to me which I’ve posted there. Here is an extract:

Nothing really wrong with this, but to stay on the topic, and on focus, this raises the question of what direction the game will take if 20x more Xbox users concerns are different than 20x less PC users. I’m not saying here something about gamers vs simmers, but to illustrate:

Nothing wrong with the Xbox in itself, but if this is so huge a success, and given the limited resources available, the game can only be focusing for the largest population using the game, an in this case, it is not a question of gamers and simmers (although it could), but I have a strong feeling from the initial Xbox feedback it will be a question of how you use the game and for what reasons

Now to me this doesn’t mean there should be 2 versions of the game either and this makes no sense at all from a technical perspective. In effect, what MSFT is offering through their “Gaming Everywhere” value proposition is to code once and deploy on all compatible devices. To me the question is not technical here at all, it is about shifting priorities instead.

And please folk I urge we keep things civil. Let’s not flame anyone…if I’m in any anyway angry or dissapointed it’s with Microsoft who with a little more thought could have delivered versions for every platform and taste .and still could .

The game will never just be PC. The whole point of releasing the title on console is to expand the community and provide more opportunities for the team. Also, having the game on both platforms allows the team to see the changes/fixes that they can bring to both platforms and work further more on there projects. PC has had it with previous titles, that was that past and will be the past from now forward as this is the right step forward imo.

Yes, ok. Easy.

It is easy to respond to a half quote.

And what half quote is that is?

To be honest, although there are a lot of add ons etc for the title. The one thing I would like to be able to do is create my own liveries on console - I can do it on a certain rail based sim/game and on car based games. I’m a man of simple needs :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

For those of you who are unaware of the number of mods created already and unfortunately it seems only available for pc users at present they run into 10000s .

I think the more people who have access to the platform the better for everyone. More people who hook in the better and more profitable it is for 3rd party development for add ons. This is a win for everyone.

My wife is not a die hard sim player. But she can pick up a controller and do a discovery flight in amazement. Now she asks me on how to fly the F14 using the Hotas controller. So now I am teaching her everything about flight.

Being an ex pilot it’s awesome to see her take an interest in what I have been involved with all my life.

Stop thinking that just because it’s a different platform does not mean it’s now flawed. That’s why there are sliders for everything and assists. Flying is fun and should be accessible to all who wants to learn.

How many of the so called PC die hard simmers actually spent time in flight school. Probably not many. Reading faqs on the internet is not flight training. So let’s all chill and enjoy.

The best thing to do with people that attempt to draw a false dichotomy between “simmers” and “gamers” - ignore them.

There’s a legitimate and reasonable discussion to be had about differences between Xbox and PC (addons are a big one, along with peripheral support), but if it’s the only thing someone is saying is “Xbox bad, PC good” or something like that, just use the ignore option. My ignore list keeps growing in these threads.

I have a high end PC and a Series X, and I enjoy MSFS on both. The base game is exactly the same. PC is more fun for IFR with navigraph integration and the ability to mod the 787, 747 and the FBW A320, Xbox is more fun for VFR cause it’s plugged into my big living room TV. But I could play either and enjoy it.

I suspect I’m not the only one playing it on both PC and Xbox. And yes, I too am a “serious simmer” and I’m also a “gamer” and it’s all the same thing in the end. Just have fun yourself and let others have fun, and ignore the people who only carp and whine without contributing something positive to the discussion.
