Eventually? Too much work..but I know it’s not a priority LL and FF.. 220 dollars for aviator edition it’s not enough
They implied these would be FS2024 compatible by including them in the Aviator Edition. The fact that most show up as “not approved” by the publisher is embarrassingly half-kiestered.
Hi, now that the Carenado F33a is out for MSFS2024… shouldn’t it be easy to update the V-tail Bonanza? Or am I wrong in thinking it is almost the same aircraft?
There’s nothing difficult about updating the V-Tail Bonanza or any of the other Local Legends and Famous Flyers.
They are Microsoft planes made for them by Carenado, inibuilds, etc. It’s up to Microsoft to pull their finger out and get them or pay them to update these planes.
I’m surprised no one has brought this up with Jorge on one of the Q and A’s…unless people have tried and these questions haven’t been picked in order to avoid embarrassment…
I know myself and others have raised bug reports on this stuff and they’ve been ignored.
It was brought up in the last Dev stream. I swear I just posted about it in another thread, but can’t remember which one. Asked about whether the LL/FF planes will get updates, Jörg said: “Yep, that’s the plan”. No timeline or any further details, though.
Edit: found it
I sure hope all the LL/FF aircraft receive functionality updates for msfs-2024. I can imagine how the V-tail Bonanza would change with the improved flight model & increased number of CFD contact points on the ruddervators and airframe. Or all the career-mode missions to complete in each of the aircraft.
Military cargo in the Do-31, Seabase passenger airliner in the Latecoere 631, Skydivers in the SC7, VIP charters & Cargo in the MU-2, the absolutely massive cargo transport in the AN-225, all of the passenger routes in the ATR…Each of the LL and FF aircraft fit into a career mode mission category.
@NixonRedgrave, I asked for an update on this several times in the July Developer Twitch Stream chat today and Jayne picked that up and asked Jorg about the status of famous flyers and local legends. They also had prepared some updates for this proactively in their slides.
This came up in the last stream, but basically the issue is the MSFS team doesn’t have the developer capacity from 3rd parties to produce the updates (either because they have other projects, or in other cases, the developer teams don’t even exist anymore).
However, Jorg said he is committing to getting them as updated as possible, though they may not all get updated to 2024 native standards. Some of them may get quicker updates, while others may take a good bit of time to get updated.
Similarly, Jorg said he is working on updates to premium deluxe aircraft (e.g. 747 Dreamlifter) art and related issues within the next 1-2 months, some of which will ship in SU3 and some in SU4. There are two teams specifically working on those updates. Also, Jorg spoke with Hans on the ATR and they agreed to another update in the works to fix outstanding issues.
Unacceptable.
Press X to doubt.
Also unacceptable.
My advice to anyone coming across this to just stop buying these addons. If continued support and compatibility isn’t guaranteed by way of being an official addon, then they’re no better than all the other abandoned third party addons. Of all the addons for sale, these should receive continued support, no ifs, ands, or buts.
They don’t need to be! They just need to WORK in FS2024 on an FS2020 level. That’s all I ask for.
Way ahead of you. I will never buy another Famous Flyer / Local Legend again until the Skyvan and other DOA aircraft work in FS2024. I’m not in the business of donating to abandonware.
Yeah, he was just answering both of those questions as they often come up around the same time - “will bugs be fixed, and will they be moved into the 2024 SDK?”
Thanks for asking.
The hilarity? In my Redgrave Redux 307 thread, I offered the work of my mod to Microsoft for free:
Have they taken me up on it? No. Will they? I doubt it.
Can’t find a developer? I’m right here, and have been since March of 2024.
EDIT:
To add to this, I’d fix some of the other broken aircraft for free, too. It’s not that hard to find people willing to put in effort to make the sim great. I’m knocking on the door, Microsoft, just open it.
Im more peeved that the people who purchased the aviator edition paid a lot more, for aircraft that hadnt been upgraded. Even after 9 month theres still bugs galore!
And without an apology about it, too.
(Not that it would make much of a difference in helping us victims feel better.)
The biggest issue is the availability of dev’s for this now, I expect. Alot of the teams (including mine) who worked on these aircraft don’t exist any more as Jorg acknowledged. I worked on around 10 of the FF and LL by example so those aircraft will have to be reverse-engineered by whoever is left to debug and upgrade to fs24 standards as everyone in the team who worked on the core of those aircraft are gone.
I bet there are many talented members of the community who would take this on if given the opportunity.
“World Hub” but for planes! Wishlist item?!
I just offered, again, a few posts up.
I submitted a question (via the form for the dev stream) about updates for these aircraft as well and had hoped for an answer.
One positive thing seems to get lost, Jörg said something along the lines … “Initially we didn’t want to move all of them over to MSFS 2024 native, not even all of those teams still exist. But we heard you, we’ve started it, will take some time, Oliver has started” (I haven’t had time to rewatch it for a real quote so it might be inaccurate)
I love the Bonanza V tail and the Staggerwing and I’d love to see them and other planes improved, like the Skyvan. It could be better, sure, but the situation is not that bad.
A lot could be fixed by the community if the config files had not been encrypted.
True, but Xbox purchasers deserve any/all fixes as much as PC users do.
I wish they would let me officially fix the Stratoliner for this reason.
The problem with posts like this is they lead to hyperbole, it is not a major problem, sure it is a problem. But it is not game breaking. A sense of scale will assist you in having things taken seriously and not being dismissed
