Official Discussion: Upcoming Hotfix Announcement

In all fairness, I think that the new trim issue may be a byproduct of fixing the trim wheel on the Bravo. At least that one works perfectly now in the C172.

I can say that this is completely untrue, but will say no more on it than that.

I’m sorry but did she say there’d be no hotfixes in between? I must have missed that bit

Explain then how:

I Been Playing MSFS 2020 since Oct 2020 on a purpose built PC;
Never had a CTD;
DL and install SU5 smoothly;
Many, many CTDs with an empty community folder;
Reformat and install windows 10, latest NV drivers, W10 up to date;
DL and install MSFS and hotfix smoothly;
Still get CTDs..about 30% of the time

The ONLY variable is SU5. So, NO, it is NOT on my end.

Overclocked maybe? Undervolted maybe?

Nope. No OC. Bone stock 10700K, RTX3070, 64 GB RAM, Samsung NVME SSD

Also any addon either from the marketplace or community folder can cause CTD

Hyperthreading enabled?

Did you READ the post?

Yes you said empty community folder but marketplace addons are not installed in the community folder

Of course it is. I am not disabling HT. It has always been on. It is a HT processor.

Of course but lots of people disabled it when it ran on just a few threads

The only marketplace stuff is whatever comes with it for free. Not bought anything. But even then…AGAIN…it is not MY stuff. The mess was introduced with SU5.

You probably ought to move this conversation to the main CTD thread, rather than conduct it here.

It’s the same for me. Exact same system, add-ons blah blah blah.

Pre SU5 - no crashes
Post SU5 - Unplayable

SU5 is the ONLY variable.

Agreed. Lets stop talking about it here guys. Thanks.

I think it’s entirely relevant to this thread.

These are problems introduced by SU5, and I’m dismayed that they’re not supposedly going to be tackled until WU6.

That needs feeding back. If this re-install fails to work I’ll be forced to leave the game until Asobo addresses these problems. Is that right or fair to me? I don’t think so.

I’m the same but how do we know the archaic installation procedure hasn’t introduced a data corruption into our client?

Also, what sort of mainstream software requires bleeding edge drivers? To be so dependent on particular driver versions just smacks of lazy programming. I’d be more inclined to believe the data corruption theory as that might explain why everyone seems to be affected slightly differently?

So SU5 seems to place more load on the GPU and CPU (by distributing workload more efficiently across each core). You may have had an unstable overclock that wouldn’t be realized until after the update. Also, MSFS for some users seems to really not like overclocks at all (even stable).

I’m not directly saying the issue is 100% your system, but I’m trying to figure out these CTD issues for users on the forum.

Not at all, and I’ve made the very same point you’ve just made before.

However, when it crashes on a completely fresh install and all I’ve done since start-up is start downloading the World Updates from the Marketplace then something is very wrong. I should add that my problems with these CTD’s came after the hotfix. Prior to that SU5 was ok. Go figure.

ps What do you mean by ‘people like me’? Play the ball, not the man, my friend.
