Option to turn off windscreen reflections

While flying in the Beechcraft G58 into the the sun on a partly sunny day with winter on the ground, reflections of the ground appear on the wind screen as if the entire body of the plane is invisible. An option to reduce or turn off wind screen reflections off would be a welcome addition. Vr people want it too. Too distracting.

Thank you.

Thanks for this

I have a bug report on this too. Seems like it’s especially bad with snow coverage

I can’t imagine this is intentional

this is so annoying a bug, its driving me crazy

i would advise that you don’t maintain separate threads on the issue because the vote will get split

IMO it’s a bug, not a wishlist, if mods could merge these that would be great

Though seperately an option to turn off the effect would be a workaround but given the amount of work for the team fixing the sim I am guessing this is very low priority

I cannot get a good screenshot when i have dozens of these spots on the window. even turned up settings to see if it was raining or what these things are, but no rain. But the fog on the first pic in this topic…woo, didnt have it that bad yet

One of the easiest ways to experience this issue is to fly the Twin Otter on the Lukla landing challenge. As you approach the threshold you can see the whole world beneath the plane literally flashing before your eyes up the windscreen.

It looks awful, it’s hugely distracting, and it really needs to go. I didn’t like reflections on some aircraft in 2020 (like the C152 and C172’s side windows when banking), but the issue in this thread is on a whole other level.

it slike having a downwards camera and have it projected on the windshield

The reflection is horrible. I don’t understand why it can’t be turned off. There are very few settings in the MSFS 2024 simulator.

Sure could be nice to be abel to turn off those reflections and in the same run to be abel to “clean” your winscreen for dirt. Gets a bit anoying with the same dirt in each aircraft all the time.

Windscreen effect can be reduced, have you tried medium? I use primarily VR so I always have mine on High as I like the visual elements that assures that I’m behind a glass window. Without them its like sitting in a windowless cockpit - something I strongly disliked in older flight sims.

However, I agree that there should be an “off” option so you have my vote.

Possibly fixed with the latest patch? I havent checked yet

i checked, i dont see any change, it doesn’t look like its fixed

If you are still seeing this issue, please list the aircraft where you are still seeing the reflected exterior. Pics showing this would be useful too

  • Thanks!

Here’s before and after the latest patch, this is flying around CYMM at night with snow, in the Savage Norden. It definitely did do something to it but I still wouldn’t call it fixed.

Before:

After:

In my opinion its “improved” in that it looks different, and theres less terrain detail reflected (buildings and trees seem to be gone) but all the snow mask and the roads still seem to be there - the result is not really a net improvement because visibility is still awful

Beechcraft G58 Not Fixed.

Please fix.

Sr22 still flying through a sandstorm when the sun hits the windshield
and the displays also have the same problem

Same issue for the G36:

I’m a bit confused here, as there seem to be two issues.

The first one described was an actual reflection problem, where a distorted image was apparent overlaid on the windscreen. I actually haven’t seen this very often, probably because I don’t really fly at night.

The second problem is a uniform yellowish cast over the windscreen when the sun is shining on it. I see this one a lot in particular (but not all) planes , and find it extremely annoying.

Are both these due to the same effect, or are they actually two different problems?

To see the reflection issue, yes at night but flying over forest in winter during the day can produced the undesirable results. These are two different issues. I have already filed a bug report and informed them too that the fix issued in the last update to address the reflection problem did not fix the issue at hand. This second issue will need a bug report. Perhaps you could file one WeamDreaver? Looks like a bad case of “over saturated window haze.” would be a good line for your bug report topic.

i think both of these can be solved if we had an option to completely turn off all windshield refelctions
