Hit the F key, default binding resets cockpit view.
Thanks but I already tried that. It doesnāt recenter, it just takes you back to normal view if you have zoomed in or out.
I just find it amazing that these basic things are not available in FS. Just as well itās not like this in DCS!
Just toggle tracking off and back on? Iāve never personally had a need to recenter with Tobii but Iāve not on the beta. Did occasionally need to do it with TrackIR.
For SU8 and us Steam users we need a way of binding the hidden function of F12 to something else as F12 is the Steam shortcut for taking a screenshot which I use a lot.
I have tried my tobii tracker again in SU8 and it is much improved (indeed, now totally usable) since I last tried it. When I reset cockpit view with position=1 I am behind my chair, so I am keeping position=0 and losing left/right/up/down translation. F12 has no apparent affect in Steam other than screenshot. I have four requests for the next iteration:
- the sliders (in controls/tobii/sensitivity) should have tooltips explaining what behavior they control
- the position slider should be split up into three translation sensitivity sliders - I want half up/down sens, full left/right sens, zero fore/aft sens (but others may want to lean in to look at an instrument)
- a āfore/aftā cockpit camera position slider should be added to camera settings
- user-bindable (whatever F12 does)
I have Steam FS2020, and also Tobii. Iāve simply remapped the Steam screenshot key to something other than F12 (Alt-F1, as it happens), and itās working fine for me.
Remember you also need to go back to your default keyboard profile in controls settings. However, once you are back at the default profile, you can modify it back to what you may have had before. Clearly, thereās a new hidden binding for F12 in the default keyboard profile which is missing from user-defined profiles made prior to SU8.
While in Cockpit Camera you can use the mouse to look 360 degrees by holding the right mouse button and keep moving it either left or right but while using the Tobii Eye Tracker the view is locked to 90 degrees either left or right. Please provide a setting to enable looking further than 90 degrees as software like FaceTrackNoIR V200 allows you to move your head a little to look further by tweaking the sensitivities.
Do you mean you look beyond absolute left or right I.e. not behind you? If so, check your config as I can look fully behind me using only Tobii.
Thanks. I forgot I locked it to 90 degrees in the sensitivities.
Really enjoying using the Tobii after the native implementation! One additional feature I would like to request is that of Relative Translation.
Relative translation allows you to change how head movement is translated when you look to the side or to the rear. For instance: when you look behind you and you want to move your head to the right, then you will have to move your head to the right. Currently, you have to move your head to the left in order to move to the right when looking back.
Basically when the yaw axis exceeds a certain angle (say 120 degrees) then the X axis is reversed. This adds ALOT to the immersion of actually being in the cockpit.
3 different ways:
- Launch MSFS, click OPTIONS, click CONTROLS OPTIONS, click KEYBOARD, keep clicking the left or right blue arrow until it says DEFAULT, Click on the Home icon, click on APPLY AND SAVE, go for a flight and then press F12 to Center/Reset the view.
- Use FaceTrackNoIR V200 and choose a keyboard key for Center(donāt use F12 as you currently canāt unbind it in MSFS) and unbind that same key in MSFS. I posted a guide here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/making-tobii-eye-tracker-work-with-su8/472111/252.
- Use the arrow keys (not the numeric keypad), left/right arrow moves left/right, up/down arrow moves up/down, Alt + up/down moves closer/further away from the instruments without zooming, f to reset.
Iāve just posted a deeper dive into the new settings and what each slider does. Check it out and see if it helps you optimize the settings and get an even better experience while piloting the skies

Tobii Gaming
Itās a moot point now, as Iāve sent the Tobii device back. Just didnāt work well for me.
However, I donāt get the F12 reset thing at all. In the default profile, I get āLiveriesā when I press F12.
Itās not visible (as yet) within the customisation of the in-game controller (keyboard) default profile, but it was added as an underlying mapping to the default profile in SU8. So, this is why it doesnāt work on any other custom profiles created pre-SU8, but it does remain embedded with any new custom profiles taken from the default post-SU8.
Basic question, how do I tell what version I am running?
- Start MSFS
- Click OPTIONS
- Click GENERAL OPIONS
- Look for DISPLAY MODE and click on FULL SCREEN
- Click on Windowed
- Click OK
- If a popup box appears click KEEP CHANGES
- Click the Home icon
- Click APPLY AND SAVE
- Look at the MSFS title bar, it should look like this:
the version information will be on the left. Version 1.23.12.0 is SU8.
Thank you. Yes, Iām running SU8.
Still canāt see the F12 reset working though. Iāve selected KeyBoard Default profile and applied it, but no F12 reset. Weird.
The F12 reset would only work if you are using a Tobii Eye Tracker 5/4C or a TrackIR device.
Also if you are using Steam(I am) you need to remap the Steam screenshot key to something other than F12:
- Click the carat ^ in the taskbar.
- Right click on Steam and then click on Settings.
- Click In-Game.
- Click where it says F12 for Screenshot shortcut keys and press some other key or key combination.
- Click OK.
- Launch MSFS.
- Click OPTIONS.
- Click CONTROLS OPTIONS.
- Click on KEYBOARD.
- Keep clicking the left or right arrows until it says DEFAULT.
- Click in the SEARCH BY INPUT text box.
- Press your new Steam Screenshot shortcut key or key combination.
- For all results that are returned, click on the top one and click where the key or key combination is.
- Click CLEAR CURRENT INPUT.
- Click VALIDATE.
- Repeat steps 13-15 until you have removed all the results.
- Click the Home icon.
- Click on APPLY AND SAVE.
- Go for a flight and then press F12 to Center/Reset the view.
Now if for some strange reason F12 still isnāt working for you then you actually need to edit the input profile config files by hand. If you are using Steam then it is real easy to find these files, this post here will tell you how to find them: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/making-tobii-eye-tracker-work-with-su8/472111/255
and then follow the instructions posted here(which also contains the location of the input profile config files for the MS Store version of MSFS): https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/making-tobii-eye-tracker-work-with-su8/472111/242
I think you are thinking of TOGGLE HEAD TRACKING and it currently unbound so you need to bind a key to it however when turning TOGGLE HEAD TRACKING off it resets the view to looking straight forward so Iāve written a workaround that you can use here(it will keep your view where you are currently looking at): https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/making-tobii-eye-tracker-work-with-su8/472111/252.
F12 is the new hidden function to Center/Reset your tracker. The fuss over F12 are two different issues:
- F12 is the default key to take a screenshot in Steam and so it will interfere with trying to Center/Reset tracking.
- F12 is a hidden function that is not exposed in the CONTROLS OPTIONS in keyboard settings(try pressing F12 in the SEARCH BY INPUT textbox and only LIVERIES will appear). For any custom keyboard profiles made prior to SU8 the F12 key will not work so you need to change it back to a default profile first and then you can edit your custom keys. Alternatively you could hand edit your custom input profile config file and add the hidden F12 function by following the guide posted here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/making-tobii-eye-tracker-work-with-su8/472111/242. You can also change this hidden F12 function to a different key if you hand edit the input profile config file by following the guide posted here: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/making-tobii-eye-tracker-work-with-su8/472111/242
My sim is the MS store version and I greatly appreciate the SU8 update. Thank you.
If I put my PC to sleep with the SIM activated, it becomes unresponsive after it returns.
Tobii itself responds, but the SIM will not work unless I reboot.
Is there any way to work around this?
(Sorry for the machine translation.)
