World Update II: USA incoming

I used a TCP/IP monitor program to look at the network connections that MSFS creates on launch and while running. At one point during launch and initialization it is talking to no fewer than 10 discrete IP addresses. Once the sim if fully up and running, the number of active TCP/IP connections reduces to about 5. Of those, only one is using IPV6 - the rest are are using IPV4, including the address with the largest number of “received” packets, which I assume is the scenery stream.

For real Flight Simmers this MSFS is spetacular. It has problems but a lot of fun white wating more development. But martketing and Youtube videos attracted another type of gamers that, in fact, do not like this type of program

Excellent Q&A from Jorg and Seb, reminded me of my time running a s/w dev team (hell of a while ago now though!). Lots of brilliant things to come. I know there are those who expect/wanted an all single all dancing system from its initial release but with such an enormous and complex piece of software this was never going to be the case and the evolutionary concept of releases sounds
brilliant to me. Great stuff MS and Asobo.

I can certainly understand the frustration and disappointment after all that hyped marketing and the sanctus on youtube. They simply didn’t deliver what they have announced for months.

But bad mood is one thing, bad attitude another. The way people express this frustration is pathetic but quite representative for today’s internet generation.

I fly the planes that work in areas that look good. Enough to explore alone in Europe, a livetime is not enough. I’ve flown across Germany, back and forth to UL airfileds I’ve been to with our UL in reality and currently I’m discovering France. It’s simply beautiful and I can highly recommend that, you really calm down from daily stress.

Yep, The FS franchise matured over many many years to FSX and has later been converted into P3D. the all(most) new MSFS will take its time too but with today’s financial possibilities regarding online purchases and DLCs it will be a LOT faster, I’m sure. 1 year, maybe two and the sim will have changed to the better quite a lot. Asobo simply can’t just snap their fingers and update the whole thing to another program.

GA pilot yes. Turboprop no. But I know how the proplogic should behave.

As mentioned before. I’m a big advocate for MSFS, but we need to talk about the bad stuff in order to get fixed.

I found a workaround a couple of days ago but I didn’t give it a try because I had to go in the .cfg file and mess around with some numbers. On the long run I don’t want my sim to mess up due to me changing numbers around so I left it as is and just been dealing with it. I have a 100mbps internet connection and my sim is installed on my C drive. I know there’s a lot of other people experiencing this issue so it has to be on Asobo end.

Edit: I also tried the workaround Asobo recommended which was deleting the cache, which that didn’t work. Btw, I’m running it on a i9-10900k/32gb ram/ 2080 Super

I want a world update update for KLAS (Las Vegas).

Sin City looks way less fun at night than my bank account and hangovers have experienced. :innocent::grin:

Flew the other day to see Bryce Canyon since I was there several times in real life. The parts I flew around Utah were - ugh. Once you’re used to photogrammetry it spoils ya.

Bryce IRL…

I don’t know how they would handle Arches National Monument…

I smell a little problem for AI.
On the other hand incredibly beautiful monuments.

I hope Asobo can figure this out and give guidance on how to make it work. If it’s truly some kind of difference in protocol, they should release a dev tool for checking. Right now, the only real indication is if the main connection to multiplayer is down. The Xbox networking page also does some testing, but that’s about it.

I haven’t been using multiplayer myself. I assume that activating MP would open additional TCP/IP connections. Not sure if those would be IPV6, though from what I have seen, the majority of the game’s internet connectivity is using IPV4.

northern europe could need some work! very bad terrain data and no detailed airports

I am not happy at all that they chose USA. After all, US and Western Europe has always been the best covered areas in sims thru the years. It would have been great to have some other areas this time. Africa, Central America, SE Asia for exsmple…

I very much doubt if the biggest market is the US, its a population of less 330 million versus 447 million in Europe. Its more likely just a matter of data and the fact that they have a lot more for the US at this point in time.

MPTO airport please!!

Did you buy this addon? If you did, can you tell me this?

  1. Is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers located in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia modelled in this addon? It’s not very far from Pentagon.

  2. It’s been stated that people who buy it from places like Aerosoft, Simmarket etc are getting an installer, using which they can customize the addon and add/remove parts they don’t want. I’m guessing that the four enhanced airports that you call optional could be added or removed using this installer. But what about those who want to buy it from the in-sim MSFS marketplace? Are they going to get this installer too? If not, will these four enhanced airports be automatically installed for them?

Adding you @BostonJeremy77 to this post because it seems like you bought it. So I thought you could help? Drzewiecki Designs Washington and Moscow Finally in Marketplace!

And tagging you all @CarriedFoil20, @SuperSasquatch, @sttovo too, all who said they bought the addon.

Thanks.

So hmm…the dev has replied to me claiming it’s been modelled lol

I can’t tell ya yet. I am currently on the world tour and finishing up Asia. Then Oceania and only then will I make it to Americas, and even then making my way up from Chile! But I also had that question about the optional airports. To be honest, I haven’t bothered to ask anyone as I figured I will just find out when I come through DC and Moscow. Sorry I couldn’t be more help!
