Unfortunately, I don’t know if any community manager or moderator is monitoring this topic.
But I have collected some of the topics I have encountered since the beginning. There may be more.
After extensive playing today I am afraid I have to reinstate that the introduction of METAR clouds is having too mutch of an immersion breaking problem, not only immersion breaking but general performance of the sky. Today I was flying from a tiny island in the ocean, the METAR reported a few clouds, after loading in not only I am met from the usual towering cumulus, (while meteoblue had very high clouds) but also when leaving the METAR area I could see a wall of clouds surrounding the island, …
Hifisim has a very good track record for making real life weather, you could make him fix flaws/make it better in MSFS! You did hire WT, so this would make the sim even better!
Currently, the weather system is in lockdown, and unable to be accessed by 3rd party devs. Please open this up, so features that Asobo aren’t willing to develop can be created by the likes of HiFi etc.
Some of us want things like archived weather, or TAF/forecast based weather generation. Even just the ability to set the weather by writing a METAR. This is extremely valuable when training for specific scenarios.
It seems to me that the visibility is simply unlimited. Everywhere, all the time. Unless I’m inside a cloud, I can see to the horizon. Humidity slider on weather panel does nothing, under any weather preset. For all I’ve seen in the video on youtube, it is the same for everyone, just nobody seems to have noticed yet.
There have been many useful posts about this topic from community members in various weather related threads time and again but I believe this topic deserves a separate thread of it’s own since it’s such an important and most ignored aspect of MSFS’s weather system ever since it launched.
The weather system currently doesn’t contain any haze or visibility blocking elements outside the METAR station’s vicinity. Even when it tries to create some haze by matching METAR reported data, there’s an ar…
Air quality has been awful lately on the west coast of the United States — the sun has been orange and the skies have been brown. As nice as it is to fly in a pristinely clean simulated air, it would be neat to see pollution and poor air quality in the live weather.
Even in “normal” times, the sky in places like Los Angeles has a distinct look with smog hanging near the ground, below an inversion.
Air quality data is publicly available, at least at ground level. I wonder if it is accessible in…
It’s time we had a dedicated ‘visibility in live weather mode’ thread!
I’m a IRL pilot. Live weather is excellent however ever since launch, visibility in live weather mode is always unlimited. Visibility never changes!
I’m fed up of flying in almost unlimited visibility.
Surely by now, visibility from the meteoblue model can be implemented in the SIM in live weather mode. Everything else (clouds, winds, temperatures) is!
Please Asobo, model visibility changes in the atmosphere in live weath…
Hi guys! we have seen many wonderful new features for the new 2024… but unfortunately we have not yet seen implementations on the meteorological engine except the fabulous work of the atmospheric colors with light changes etc and new cirrus clouds (great Asobo!). The only thing I personally would like to see is the dispersion\fading of the clouds that we had at the beginning of 2020… we lost a bit of immersion in seeing fixed clouds without fading… We certainly have new performances and I think …
Can we please have a weather update only? To fix the issues with mostly one type of clouds, different layers, the return of lightning (disappeared since su7) propper fog, realistc and varied cumuloninmbus?
Needles to say that most of the time my flights are in a sea full of scattered cumulus, often too close to the ground and very gray! I know the next update will try to tackle clouds layers, but still, a weather update only could be very very useful in my opinion

Ok so there is a heated debate going on regarding the updated weather engine in sim update 7. And it appears there two sides of preferences and both sides feel they have good reason for why they prefer one way or another. Keep in mind I have no expertise in coding and don’t know all the details about what makes up the weather engine. I am relying on what others are reporting.
So far now I it seems that the weather is now making use of METAR data locally around airports to more accurately corres…
ISSUE DESCRIPTION
Description of the issue:
There is a bug where clouds in the distance are displayed with incredibly poor quality even on ULTRA settings.
This must be a bug as it was not like this in MSFS2020, where the clouds were good quality to the horizon, therefore, a regression that has slipped through. It can’t be intended to be like this as they just don’t look like clouds, in the same way that if an aircraft did not look like an aircraft it would be a bug.
They are always extremely…
To summarise the above, the combined wishlist would look something like this.
The list can of course be extended:
improve cloud depiction: variations, cloud quality etc.
visibility depiction outside of METAR bubbles
option to turn off METARs
a big, “only weather” sim update
3rd party acces (HiFi, REX) to the weather API. If Asobo refuses to pay proper attention to the weather, others will be happy to do so.
