[A320neo v2] PTU sound and "hundred above" callout missing

 Thank you using the Bug section, using templates provided will greatly help the team reproducing the issue and ease the process of fixing it.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

N/A (Xbox Series X)

Which aircraft are you using that experiences this issue?

iniBuilds Airbus A320neo v2

Brief description of the issue:

When starting the first engine, the PTU kicks in (there is the ECAM message) but the PTU has no sound (that ā€œbarkingā€). Also, during approach, when minimum altitude is set: there is no ā€œhundred aboveā€ audio callout, while the ā€œminimum!ā€ callout is present.

(Note: Just to be sure, I tested with both my regular soundbar and a headset, to hear everything as clearly as possible. No volume adjustments were made in the options menu. All other sounds and audio callouts are clearly audible.)

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

N/A

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

PTU:

  1. Start up the Airbus A320neo v2 from cold and dark.
  2. Start only one engine first and listen to the (lack of) PTU sound

ā€œHundred aboveā€:

  1. Set the minimum altitude in the MCDU on the approach perf page (BARO)
  2. Listen to the audio callouts while approaching the destination airport

PC specs and peripheral set up:

N/A (Xbox Series X)

Are you using DX11 or DX12?

Are you using DLSS?

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

The PTU bark is only audible in the older A320ā€™s.
The Neoā€™s do not make that sound.

Thanks. (Too bad, I love that sound.) Then I only miss the ā€œhundred aboveā€ callout.

Thatā€™s just not true - the PTU is still present in the NEO. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBpoSvBmhos

Airbus has modified its A320neo to eliminate the characteristic ā€˜barking dogā€™ noise generated by the A320ā€™s power transfer system during ground manoeuvring.

The noise has been a familiar feature of the A320 family and originates in the power-transfer unit, a bi-directional device enabling the green and yellow hydraulic systems to pressurise one another.

It typically activates when the differential pressure between the two systems exceeds 500psi.

Airbus A320 programme manager Klaus Roewe says that the airframer has developed a modification which ā€œeliminatesā€ this noise.

The noise is generated by vibrations within the pumps and the modification involves installing two additional dampers ā€“ one near the engines and the other near the wing root.

Airbus says the amendment means the issue has been ā€œsolvedā€.

Its interesting because i can find alot of videos with new A320neos built years after the date of that article you posted from, with audible PTUS. Could be an airline option airbus grants?

No, it isnā€™t an airline option.
I wouldnā€™t take too much stock from a vid that might be mislabeled.
It could also be that the sound is ā€œmuffledā€ and still slightly audible, I havenā€™t flown in a real Neo, just the older Airbus versions.

Another example, with the reg provided in the description. Delivered in 2020, with audible PTU bark https://youtu.be/NQvxG_y0uNw?t=20 and I havent been able to find any official info from airbus on it, only some random articles on the internet

I believe the earlier Neoā€™s may still have the bark, but the later ones do not.

Asked around in the FBW server, they say this has been changed and ā€œimprovedā€ but itā€™s certainly not gone. (type rated a320 pilot kindly answered the question, ill trust his word  )

Here are links to some threads here on the topic, including some comments from the FBW folks.
All state that the sound is not (or barely) audible from the cockpit.

Yes its totally realistic that itā€™s not audible from the cockpit, but im talking about in the cabin. Iā€™m assuming this post is also trying to listen to the sound from the engine/wing views

you can hear the PTU just fine if you get close to the cabin door, hearing it in the cockpit is unrealistic, you can also check it by turning the yellow elec pump with the engines off on the ground.

So, just to reiterate: the ā€œHundred aboveā€ callout is still missing.

The ā€œhundred aboveā€ is an optional callout and is only included on airline request.

Consider it requested then.
