[KNOWN ISSUE] **UPDATED 13th of July** Crashing with Nvidia GPU drivers 536.40, 532.03, 531.79, 531.68, 531.61, 531.41

If you are experiencing the following, and you have Nvidia GPU in your PC:

  • Sim is crashing without any notification
How to find crash report from Windows Event Viewer
  • Sim is crashing with “Your graphics device has encountered a problem…” error
  • You are experiencing stuttering and poor performance
  • You are experiencing long loading times (up to +2 hours)

This is most likely caused by your GPU drivers. Drivers 532.03, 531.79, 531.68, 531.61 and 531.41 are known to cause issues with the Sim.
Before going back to older driver, you can try to switch from DX12 to DX11 (if you are using DX12). We see more of these issues with DX12.

If you have one of these driver versions installed, we recommend going back to version 531.29 or older driver.

Issue is being investigated by both, Asobo and Nvidia. We will update this topic as soon as we have more information.

We are receiving reports on Zendesk that latest Nvidia driver 536.40 can cause some instability with the Sim.

If you are using the 536.40 driver with your Nvidia GPU and are experiencing crashing, we recommend going back to version 536.23. If this version is unstable on your system as well, we recommend going all the way back to version 531.29 and wait for Nvidia to release a new driver before updating.

With the latest 536.40 driver, we are also seeing crash reports with the following message:

Error: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG (0x887a0006)

If you get this error, it is most likely caused by your GPU drivers.
