Moving from Xbox to PC, First TODOs

So, for many reasons I decided to move from Xbox to PC, Im waiting on the parts to arrive to assemble it, (last pc I assemble was like 20+ years ago). :crossed_fingers:.
Anyway, what shall I be aware of on PC?, what do you recommend me as first steps to have the sim up and running, meaning plugins, add-ons, and so on. (important folders and their purpose). Oh BTW also my firs windows pc as im a mac user. LOL Im gonna be so confused.

S.O.S here.

I recommend installing a debloated version of Windows 11 Pro.

Hereā€™s the method I used, along with the Windows features I chose to NOT install. I prefer to have a local user login, not a Microsoft Windows login, and it was very easy using the method in the linked video. My computer (and FS2024) has been running very smoothly since I basically rebuilt it with a clean Windows install when I moved from a 5800X3D to a 7950X3D CPU.

I also highly recommend the free software ā€˜Addons Linkerā€™ available on flightsim.to. In fact, I think itā€™s a ā€œmust have.ā€ Itā€™s easy to use, and can help keep your Community folder clean (especially if like me have a lot of 3rd Party addons.)

Other than that, Iā€™d review these threads:

Cool thanks,
Im just asking not on the recommended build, as I do have that already. But software related to have me up and started with the sim in the ā€œbestā€ possible way.
I do have to mention I have the TCA side stick and quadrant, ( I was using it on xbox, is fantastic).

Care to share your component list?

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D
CPU Cooler: Be Quiet! Dark Rock Pro 5
Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX B650E-F GAMING WIFI
GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16G SHADOW 3X OC
RAM: Kingston FURY 32GB KIT DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 Beast White EXPO
Storage: Kingston KC3000 NVMe SSD 2TB
PSU: ASUS TUF GAMING 850W GOLD
Case: Montech AIR 903 MAX White
Monitor: 34" LG UltraGear 34WP65C-B
Fans: 2x Be Quiet! Pure Wings 3 120 mm PWM White (additional intake and exhaust fans)

Did you consider 64GB (2x32GB) RAM? I ask because Iā€™ve been reading that some people are reporting >32GB being used while the sim is running. I have 64GB and I donā€™t think Iā€™ve seen more than 30GB used. But I like headroomā€¦

Otherwiseā€¦Excellent!!!

Yes I did, actually it was my in my first build list, but needed to bring things down in order to get that processor. Worst case scenario, I get an extra 32 pair. We will see how will it behave.
Im gonna check those addons and so.

There have been reports of people having issues with 4 DIMMā€™s and AMD CPUā€™s. Thatā€™s why I put the 2x32GB notation in there.

Personally, I built a 5800X3D system running with 4x16GB almost 4 years ago, and had no problems, although I think my memory latency was higher than it might have been if Iā€™d had 2x32GB.) 32GB DIMMS were very pricy when I built that system, though. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I wouldnā€™t worry too much about it - just be aware that it could be a potential issue down the road.
