Can anyone confirm that MSFS will support 2x RTX 3090 (SLI) as soon as DX12 comes for PC-Version?
Didn’t they get rid of SLI because it’s not needed anymore because the cards are powerful enough to run anything out there. Or is it just available for the 3090 cards? I can’t remember.
Yes you are right, SLI is often considered a novelty these days because (at least some say) it only introduces latency with no significant gain. However this is not a shooter so I’m thinking there might be some benefits once multi screens are available … and there again I can’t afford one 3090 yet alone two
Exactly.
Just enjoy it in whatever form it takes or you will all be pulling your hair out. Personally I have no doubt that Asobo knows what needs to be done/fixed and have every faith they will do it. I certainly won’t be losing sleep over it.
It’s not only several monitors for MSFS but also VR-enthusiasts like me, who want the best experience. And if MSFS can benefit well from two 3090’s in SLI, I would buy another one. There are crazy VR headset coming for the consumer market with incredible quality. Just watch the videos about Varjo VR-3 or Varjo XR-3. They are not affordable for normal people (~3500 to almost 6000 euro, plus a yearly subscription of 800 - 1500 euros) but in some near future people will be able to buy such quality for much less money. And who ever played MSFS with a HP Reverb G2 for example, knows how great this already is.
Hmmm, since the update on the 27th don’t we now see touchdown effects (smoke particles) along with dust particles when rolling over dirt? I never saw these before the update on the 27th but I do now…
Tbh I think they’ve just used their contrails engine for that but maybe your suspicions are correct
Maybe they did. And maybe it works

As for DX-12, I don’t expect multi-GPU 3090+3090 (like NVidia could do with DX-10/11) will be supported yet, it will be quite some work to do that in DX-12. In DX-12, the GPU’s are assigned in the application. Suppose they could assign the cockpit rendering pipeline to GPU1 and the scenery outside to GPU2 ? I’ve heard nothing in the Q&A about it, but DX-12 does support multi-GPU. When the program makes use of it.. there’s no external setting for DX-12 yet, as far as I know..
I was incorrect and quite surprised by the introduction of particle system improvements with the last update. I was previously led to believe it was an improvement associated with DX12.
I’ve seen trees move in a storm today.. Maybe it was already in, I’m not sure.. but it really happens !
Trees have have been moving like that in strong winds, since back in 2020 versions.
If you look carefully, they do not actually BEND over their length, but instead ROTATE about a point.
Not so obvious in this video, but if you get close to a single tree, and can see where it is planted in the ground, as the tree ROTATES about a point somewhere on this trunk, you can see the place where it enters the ground, MOVE !!!
I have some pictures from a session where the weather went wrong, and there were something like 1200kt winds! The trees were horizontal.
Any news about when DX12 will touch down on PC?

The fourth-most voted-on question in the upcoming Twitch Developer Q&A is, “Which Sim Update will have DirectX 12 support?”
So, I would expect that it will be answered when that gets rescheduled.
That being said, I expect that when they do implement it that not all of the benefits will be available on day 1. I expect that it will take a few sim updates.
what is the better part for DX12? Any xbox user could tell us now?
With the performance and fidelity we have now I’m willing to wait for DX12 for when it’s fully ready.
Does the xbox version already support ray tracing?
I guess when they implement it, much more thinks will be broken an no longer work.
In comparision SU5 will be a walk in the park
At least with DX12 they will have had months of it running on XBox before it comes to PC. Hopefully that can help mitigate any bugs when it comes to PC.
