Poll: Nvidia 497.09 Experience [Update: 497.29 drivers with fixes available now]

Hello everyone,

We are carefully monitoring reports from our players that the latest Nvidia Geforce driver (497.09) may be causing issues with Microsoft Flight Simulator, including, but not necessarily limited to, crashing to desktop (CTD) and blue patches where ground terrain textures should appear. Please vote in this poll so we can better understand how widespread this issue is and if it is affecting everyone who has upgraded to the 497.09 driver or only a subset of players.

Please choose the appropriate option for your version of Windows (10 or 11) and which DirectX version you are using (11 or 12).

Thanks,
MSFS Team

For me nothing newer than nvidia driver 466.77 works since SU5 because of this.
It is unclear if it’s caused by the sim or the driver, but maybe it’s related.

This. No issues here. DX11.

Running on Windows 11 with clean install and just getting CTD. Seeing blue patches popping up around the ground.
PC is 3080 TI, AMD 5950x.

Huge improvement for me. Playing in VR I got like 40% more FPS.

DX12 has settled down since SU7 and even without this driver is much better … Very smooth but there is still a hit to fps (my guess is 10-15%)

With my 1080ti I am having CTD’s with any driver version higher than 466.77… Also tried out 497.09, but CTD when loading the flight…

Not only do I experience a crash to desktop, but the entire PC restarts to protect itself. Not even a “Blue screen of death”

Anyone with an Intel system experiencing this crash? Edit - I see in the other thread there are.

I will say that I have seen a huge spike in CPU usage with this driver set?

Minimum is 44% and I’m seeing spikes into the 90% range.

Watch your CPU temps with this driver.

Exactly the same for me.

Yup that sounds like overvoltage protection to me but is it cpu or gpu I ask?

It starts to get annoying because other games are complaining about outdated drivers

That’s what it seemed like to me, but couldn’t confirm. I have a monitor for temps and none were even close to 70C…
